I recently ate at Sandgate Post Office Hotel restaurant. I let the waitress know I am celiac and she was very helpful. There were plenty of gluten free choices and options on the restaurant menu. My husband and I ordered garlic bread, mussels, duck, gnocchi and cheesecake. All gluten free and decent portions. The service was fantastic and the food delicious. This was the second time eating there. Last time we had a share rotisserie meal and sides - also gluten free. We ate during the week which was less busy and quiet. Highly recommend!

No longer coeliac friendly since changing management!
— Not at all
— No gluten-free information on the menu

Our menus offer gluten-free, very low gluten, vegan, vegetarian and lactose free options and we cater to specific requests. We often get coeliac customers. Whilst the entire menu isnt gluten-free, we certainly can provide options for you. We have a dedicated gluten free fryer and preparation area.
This place is no longer Coeliac friendly. Changed management, changed chef and ignorant waitresses. I’m extremely disappointed ☹ Also very noisy.

We take your allergy and dietary requirements very seriously. Please advise your needs at time of booking and our chefs and kitchen team will do their best to accommodate you. Our menus offer gluten-free, very low gluten, vegan, vegetarian and lactose free options and we cater to specific requests.
Specially prepared coeliac-safe dishes can be made on request with prior notice using a dedicated gluten free fryer. Please put a note on your reservation in the Dining Room.
We cannot guarantee complete allergy free meals due to the potential of trace allergens in the working environment and supplied ingredients.
this was a fantastic place to eat, with wonderful g. f. options. the food was extremely good, and terry was a fantastic host. the energy, and vibe was fun too.
very sadly it has different management now. the food was not good. I had the classic burger which comes with fries. the burger bun was still really good, but the quality of the meat patty was very bad, as well as overcooked. I think the new management is buying the cheapest ready made patties, and the chips were disgusting really, although the chips were cooked well, they were the cheap, and nasty type. not good enough to serve in a hotel.
what a shame, very disappointed as this was always a great place to go, and my friends would travel some distance to eat there with me.
would love to know where the previous chef is cooking now? if anybody knows can they please write it here. he was extremely good for anybody with c. d. as his girlfriend has c. d. too.
hopefully it improves there
sad to loose a good thing locally.

The Head Chef that was at the establishment prior to the renovations, is the same. We carefully choose our ingredients and certainly dont go for the cheapest. We dont get many complaints considering the volume of people that eat at the venue. We dont get complaints on the burgers and chips so apologise sincerely if you didnt get our usual level of quality. Over the last year, chips have sometimes been in short supply so we have sometimes been forced to change brands. We are more than happy to rectify any issues when you are at the venue so please let us know when you visit. If you eat in The Dining Room you will get full service and extended menu options for gluten free as opposed to the bar menu.
Seriously delicious food, amazing service and everything can be done gf! They have a separate section in the kitchen for preparing gf items so they are coeliac safe.

I have been a severe coeliac for over 25 years. Sandgate Post Office Hotel is one of the best gluten free dining experiences I have ever had. Outstanding. Thankyou.
