Very knowledgeable about gluten. Our server was funny and enjoyable! Many sushi options, happy hour prices make it well worth the meal.

I’m sure it’s great for sushi, I’ve been here before having celiac and the food is incredible. So this review isn’t for sushi. Last time I went I tried ordering fish, was told it would be plain and it came out with some weird seasoning on it. Nima sensor caught gluten and after a chat with the manager, it was apparent that they were not very cautious or informed on what gluten is and didn’t seem very caring of the situation.

Waiter went through the whole menu and told me which were gluten or could be made gluten free. They then also had a gluten free lava cake for dessert from a golf tournament that day that they offered for me since the desserts on the menu are not gluten free.

We got takeout and the sushi was really good. My only problem was when we got back to our condo they put all the sushi gluten-free and non-gluten-free in one container so we had to figure out what was gluten-free and what wasn’t which was kind of annoying.

No table reservation available for weeks, so opted for scheduled take-out, 48h in advance to secure an early dinner pick-up time. There are other items that are naturally gluten free but not included in the gluten-free menu, such as simple maki rolls and nigiri, as well as the misoyaki chicken that we ordered with a side of rice. It was delicious! My favorite items were the sushis and rolls made with fresh local produce and fish. Very flavorful! We requested GF soy sauce at pick up.

Gluten free menu and tamari. Knowledgeable staff.
Yes
They had a separate GF menu with most of the sushi rolls available, as well as Tamari sauce. We ordered a few rolls and appetizers (the eggplant was delicious) and they always announced GF when they brought a new plate. Considering it’s hard to find GF sushi restaurants I really enjoyed this meal.

This place was absolutely amazing! My boyfriend and I are gluten free and they definitely know their stuff. My boyfriend has a severe gluten allergy so we choose our restaurants very carefully. Their gluten free menu was very large and the staff was knowledgeable. They even note on the menu for sushi with crab that the gluten free version has real crab because imitation crab contains gluten. Very impressed with this place, highly recommended for anyone seeking fresh sushi!

Best sushi on Maui and in my top 5 ever. Fresh, beautifully prepared and delicious.
Waiter was very well informed about celiac and they have an amazing GF menu. Brought out tamari right away and reassured us every step of the way. Awesome experience!

4 of my family are GF. WE ALL DID VERY WELL LAST NIGHT. This is sometimes s trick at many restaurants. We enjoy sushi and our servers knew very well what the menu was for us GF types. Watch for the specials, you might get in on the early bird special and be able to eat twice as much.
This is a tough one for me to rate. I had an AMAZING gf meal here, and the folks could not have been more helpful answering questions. But then my non-gf husband (with GI system of steel) and I both got violently ill afterward with some of the worst food poisoning of our lives. This is the only food we both ate. Make of this what you will. We love sushi, and before the sickness, we loved this place.

The food was really good, and our server was very knowledgeable and helpful. He saw us looking at the gluten free menu and immediately brought us Tamari.
This place is incredible!! The filet mignon was heavenly. Very unexpected in a sushi place. Their sushi was delicious and we will definitely come back!!!

They have a GF menu and our waiter was very attentive and double checked to make sure my sake and my prepared wasabi was clean. The sushi was very fresh and delicious! It's a popular place make reservations or line up early before they open at 530!

Good food and clearly marked menu for GF items (there was a G next to them). Server listened and was understanding for my needs (was with gluten eaters). Nice environment with a wide range of options but expensive food. Worth it for a nice sushi night out.

We received excellent service here; and DELICIOUS food. It’s always humorous asking for food suggestions when I’m pregnant and Celiac at a SUSHI restaurant, but our server took super good care of us. He gave us several menu options and answered all of our questions; even double checking with the kitchen multiple times when he wasn’t 100% sure. The butterfish was GF and absolutely delicious and they had a Tamari on hand as well. Highly recommend.

I love this restaurant and frequent the one on Oahu. However, the one on Oahu removed all their miso dishes a while back (miso butterfish, miso eggplant, etc) because they realized they weren’t GF due to malt vinegar. Someone that wasn’t communicated across locations. I let them know so hopefully it’ll change but it made me unsure of/distrustful of their menu. Went with basic sushi to be safe and was fine
Staff was great, very helpful and knowledgeable. Had Tamari on hand for sushi, and had GF menu which helped with selection. Very busy restaurant, so definitely potential for cross-contamination but my celiac husband did fine. Sushi itself was good, but we were a little let down after all the rave reviews - wasn’t better than what we regularly get at home in SC.

Sansei’s has great Japanese cuisine. They have a lot of gluten free options and a separate gluten free menu. The food was really good, and they had Tamari Soy-Sauce. They have a gluten-free Lava Cake that was pretty good.
