Had a delicious dinner here. Had a separate gluten free menu with a lot of offerings on it. I had noted that I had celiac in my opentable reservation and my waiter came prepared with a gluten free menu and explained they take it very seriously. I felt comfortable with everything they gave me, and had no issues afterwards (though I will mention I am asymptomatic/silent celiac). The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is that they did bring bread to our table (fine...) but they serve it directly on the table (c’mon!) so you may want to upfront tell them not to bring bread for others or to bring it on a plate.
Other than GF pastas, Scampo is actually not very allergen friendly at all. My wheat-allergic son didn't want pasta the night we went, and they could not do even an order of fries OR a couple of scrambled eggs for him, so he ended up eating a mixed berry plate and snacks that I brought from home. I was expecting a lot more given the reviews. They have shared fryers and a rigid kitchen. We will not be coming back.
Amazing service and very helpful with GF allergy. Ask for the GF menu, it's separate. The Server brought out celery and dip for me and bread for the table! The GF pasta is definitely the best I've ever had! And for those not GF, the rest of my party loved their meals. Need to come back!!
They were very allergy-friendly!! I ordered a pasta dish with cheese and pepper. When they brought out crunchy breadsticks, the server made sure to put them as far away from me as possible and he brought out carrots and dip for me without asking. Run, not walk, to Scampo! Yes, it's expensive, but very good quality food!!
Ate at the bar and the two bartenders that helped me were both attentive, and carefully reviewed the recipes of the chefs to not only make sure that I ordered well, but make sure that what I was served was what was intended to be created by the chef.
I had posted the first review while dining at scampo. It was a wonderful experience, at the time. However, it turns out, it was not for me. I am a very sensitive celiac. Something must have gotten through. I was sick within 45 minutes of leaving the restaurant. I was very sad, it seemed to be a greAt place, and seemed very knowledgable and safe. Maybe for others...but not for me that night. :-(
