Their gluten free pizza is very good. I also like the gluten free sandwich bun.

Had gluten free original sandwich here. They assured me they use Udis gluten free buns. Which they did and it was delicious yet I believe There had to be some cross contamination because my evening didn’t end well. I have a pretty quick onset reaction to gluten and was uncomfortable all evening and night. I’ve gone over everything I ate And I prepared All my own food except Schlotzsky’s so this has me questioning their cross contamination protocols.

Had a great, hot, gf ham and cheese sandwich there. Only negative, they did not have any designation on the wrapper that my sandwich was the gf one on the order(the other diners in my party had regular buns) but it was fairly obvious to find it when we started unwrapping them

Zero - there are no safety protocols. They treat GF choices like any other order

They advertise UDI’s buns. Do nah available for all sandwiches, and falsely advertise all Udi buns shown on their menu because they only have actually one size and type - a tiny hamburger bun. You are not only ripped off from getting the usual 7” sandwich down to a 4 inch slider sized bun, but you are paying EXTRA for the opportunity. And to top it off getting glutened

Got sick about 20 min after eating a GF French dip and crouton-less salad. Celiac here, I know the difference and I was definitely massively gluttened

They share that they take precautions for cross-contamination but cannot guarantee that it will not happen.

Best tasting gluten-free bun I’ve had at a fast food restaurant! Plus it’s only a 50cent additional charge. The sandwiches are big and have quality ingredients.

So, on their website, there is a section for gluten free options. They can do sandwiches, pizzas and breadsticks, according to that section. They use Udi’s bread and crusts, and the woman who took my order assured me they’ll change their gloves and use a separate section with clean utensils to make it. Granbury / Glen Rose are almost entirely devoid of gluten free options and a nightmare for the vegan or vegetarian celiac. The vegetarian Caprese sandwich on an Udi’s bun was delicious and quite honestly, a relief to find somewhere safe after researching many places.

They will swap out gluten free buns or flatbread for their sandwiches or pizzas. Most of their chips are gluten free also. The gal who helped me at the register said they take gluten free very seriously and are very careful to prevent cross contamination. The gluten free bun was not bad at all.

Thanks to this group I found a place to eat heading back home from our road trip to Houston. Yelp has this place at 2 stars which is not accurate. We had a great experience and food was fresh and staff was nice. I’m mentioning that in case you look up both and hesitate to go.

I have gluten allergies. My son is Celiac, but he wasn’t with me on this visit. You can order any of the sandwiches on a gf bun for an extra $1.50, plus they’ll check soup, salad, and chips, if you have any questions or concerns. The young man who took my order could answer all my questions off the top of his head, and I had no issues. A little expensive, but most of the sandwiches are hefty, with quite a bit of meat.

The cashier did not understand why I needed the workers to change their gloves and acted as though it would not be an issue. However, as with every Schlotzskys I've been to, I did not get sick. She mentioned that the sandwiches are all made in the same oven, and placed directly on the racks. I believe overall the chain is celiac friendly, and perhaps this cashier was simply unaware of the seriousness of celiac disease.

GF pizza is celiac safe. So far every Schlotzky’s location where I have eaten takes great pains to ensure no cross contamination, and many have an open kitchen where you can watch them stop and clean everything and use separate dishes, etc for the GF pizza. Crust is always dense, but it’s fine. Have not tried the GF bun.

Hubby eats here often. Staff changes gloves, separate work station and when taking to go they place his order in a separate bag. It's UDIs bread so not the good ol Schlotzskys bread, but it gives him taste that is similar to what he remembers.

If you tell them you are celiac, they will do their best for you but know that everything goes though the same convection oven and wheat bread is made readily from scratch. Again, that being said the staff is knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and they go out of their way to create the safest, tastiest GF food for you. Udi's buns and pizza with Schlotzskys fresh recipes and ingredients makes my day happier.

Staff knows to do glove changes for GF. And the bread is great! They will do sandwiches or GF pizza . a little more training for staff would be good. I saw them use contaminated gloves to get the apple slices out of the bin and I mentioned it and the manager said he would go over it with them

I called the Mt. Pleasant store to ask if the GF bread had eggs in it. (I also have an egg allergy.) The guy who answered said, “I have no idea.” I waited for him to say something else, but he didn’t. I said, “Are you able to check?” He wasn’t willing. So, it’s obvious they don’t want to serve people with food allergies.

Rating all 5 stars because the service and the food was great. They stated they take precautions to avoid cross contamination with gluten, but it is a sandwich shop after all. My celiac daughter did not have gluten reaction with her gluten free pizza crust. They also offer gluten free breads. Overall great experience. Just make sure to make your gluten needs known when ordering

Love this restaurant! The owner is there most of the time and he’s the one that’s made my sandwiches/pizzas anytime I’ve eaten here. The food is delicious and they use Udi’s bread.

***Edited to add: they told me they don’t feel completely comfortable serving me since they can’t be 100% certain that they’re safe for celiacs. I haven’t been back since my conversation with the owner.
