This place is super cool and the ambiance is great! They have gf beer. Unfortunately I did get a reaction. The pizza was the best I’ve had but I would be careful if you are Celiac. I mean it makes sense they bake in the same oven. Fresh flour everywhere. The staff is great and I would go back with my non celiac folks because this place makes delicious pizzas.
Just ate there with my family and daughter, who is Celiac. The variety of GF pizza is wonderful and the taste is amazing. The server was very knowledgeable about the process and said that they prepare the pizza in a separate location in the kitchen and cook it on its own, clean tray. Cross contamination could possibly happen as it’s not a dedicated GF facility but this was by far, the best GF pizza dough we’ve ever tasted. It was even stretchy!
Truly delish GF pizza but don’t fool yourself… this is cooked in a shared wood-burning pizza oven. Ask for your GF pizza to be baked on a separate pan in the oven, otherwise it is bound to be quite cross-contaminated. The pizza is prepared in a separate space, & the staff is thoughtful about accommodating… but all the pizza is baked in the same wood-burning pizza oven.
Holy WTFunk did I just eat? It was EPIC!!!
I sat at the bar, and my server/bartender Michael was great. Friendly, professional, and had great suggestions.
I tried their signature pizza, the Settebello. Holy Stars & Garters it was amazing. And I got it on the gluten free crust... And this was at a different level that other pizza places. Most others use a frozen crust, but not here... They make tgeir crust in house, and fresh daily.. it isn't the cracker thin crust you find everywhere .. this is a proper risen crust. Handmade, and just WOW!!!
Other people have said it's the best GF pizza they have ever had, and I don't think so can argue with that assessment.
If you love pizza, and can't eat the gluten in a typical crust, then you have to try Settebello... You won't regret it.
I’m a very sensitive celiac and never have had problems here. The GF crust at this place is so good I almost had a panic attack the first time I had it thinking they had accidentally given me gluten. This GF pizza is made completely in-house in a wood-fired oven and it is a whole other level! I found the place years ago with some Italian summer students and they said it was the closest pizza in Pasadena to what they had at home - so you know it’s good!! Definitely save some space for the Panna Cotta dessert.
Best gluten free pizza I’ve ever had! It’s authentic, thick, airy, and chewy. Not the basic thin crust all other restaurants use for their gluten free. I called ahead of time to make sure there’s no cross contamination, and they said they handle and cook separately anyways. Didn’t feel sick at all after eating!
The food was very expensive and not that good. We went at 3pm on a week day and I am willing to concede it may have been an off day, but we won’t be back. There’s a $5 upcharge for the GF crust making a personal size pizza over $20. Our GF pizza was very burned around the edges, the pine nuts on the “Settebello” pizza we ordered were even all scorched on top and the sausage was dried out. The server should have been embarrassed to bring it to the table. And to top it off the rest of the crust was very very doughy, not cooked through. The pizza oven was obviously way too hot. And the “warm beets” appetizer we ordered was not good either. It was golden and red beets that were pre-cooked and unevenly re-heated. The golden beets were grossly overcooked and mushy and the dish wasn’t heated all the way through so beets on the edge were warm but those in the middle were still cold. It was gross and we didn’t finish it. Again, a server that cared would have questioned our unfinished appetizer and charred pizza remnants left behind, but, this guy didn’t care. The tomato sauce on the pizza was delicious. That’s about all that was great.
They seemed knowledgeable about gluten free, but there may have been some CC as Celiac hubby was having stomach pain and urgent bathroom visits the next day. We can’t absolutely blame it on Settebello because we ate away from home more than once that day, but it’s the most likely culprit.
They had so many rave reviews here and on yelp that we were excited, but we won’t be back. And we wouldn’t recommend it to other GF diners.
If you like your pizza more authentic than the American kind drowning in cheese, this is IT! My husband is Italian and he loved the Settebello and I got to Gambinetto with shrimp. Not the cheapest, but it's the good mozzarella and good olive oil and we hike 6 miles today so we deserve it!
My daughter has celiac and we went here for pizza as we heard good things. We ordered a few different types of pizza. This was the best GF pizza I’ve ever had by far and I would have never guessed it was GF. My daughter had zero reaction and I would highly recommend this restaurant
They use deglutenized wheat which is not safe for those who have a real wheat allergy. It's only safe for those who are allergic to the gluten starch which is removed but you can not remove the wheat protein from deglutenized wheat. This is why their pizza makes some of us VERY SICK.
It was my favorite gluten free pizza in Nevada, but I have to update this review. I’ve had the pizza many times over the years, but I got glutened badly on my most recent visit. It reminds me that at the end of the day, I’m gambling my health as someone with Celiac disease when I dine in a kitchen full of flour.
