Not a good experience for Celiac. They had “gluten sensitive” options on the menu, but almost all items had to have some sort of modification that wasn’t listed on the menu. When I asked the waitress about what modifications needed to be made to certain menu items to make them GF, she was unsure. She also stated that all of their food is prepared in the same kitchen with the same fryers. She did say they could clean a small part of the grill for me, but the safety and knowledge of celiac just did not seem to be present there. Nothing sounded promising, and I felt very uncomfortable so we unfortunately had to leave the restaurant.
Gluten intolerance (not celiac) - things are fried in common fryer)
We ate outside and enjoyed the gorgeous view. The drinks and food were phenomenal, as was the service. I’m gluten intolerant and my husband is allergic to seafood. Our server Cece was knowledgeable, kind, and attentive and was able to give us great recommendations. It’s our first visit (we’re vacationing) but it will definitely be a regular part of our trips here! And there’s even a menu for dogs!
Items are marked as GF on the menu BUT in many cases it means there is a GF option for the dish. Be sure to tell your waiter or waitress that you need to eat GF. They've always been able to explain the options easily. I can't have a couple of the items marked GF due to cross-contamination but I still have a few options with decent variety. Nice sunset views on the bay. Oh, and they are dog friendly and will happy bring you a water bowl. They even have two or three menu items for your pup.
I was really disappointed. I saw all the great reviews on here and arrived only to be told they no longer have a designated gf menu and their gf marked items aren’t actually gf because they share fryers. So the nachos, sweet potato fries, chips for the dips…. Everything basically is now cross contaminated.
This place was great! When we first drove in, they had a pride flag out which was what initially drew us in. Then we found out they have a lot of GF options with appetizers and entrees. They even ring the meals up under “gluten free” so the kitchen staff can take extra precautions. The staff and atmosphere were phenomenal as well. Highly recommend!
The staff seemed overwhelmed to begin with and that just got worse as we moved from the 4 o'clock hour and into the five as more dinner guests arrived. Took about 15 min for our waiter to talk to us, not to mention the hostess wouldn't put us at a shaded table even though they were available. The online menu and the physical menu didn't match. They do have clearly labeled GF items, but since the menus didn't match and the atmosphere seemed disorganized, I was nervous about ordering due to my Celiac. However, sometimes you gotta take the leap. I asked the waitress about the soy glaze on the Ahi Tina dinner (labeled GF). She said, uh, yeah, if soy sauce isn't usually gluten free, then I wouldn't order that. I asked if she could check with the kitchen. She did and informed me that the meal could be made GF by leaving off all sauces and glazes. She was very friendly but GF clueless. I ordered sans condiments. The coconut rice was actually delicious but the rest was bland since there was absolutely no flavor. I asked for some oil and vinegar and she was so confused. In the end I did end up with slight sickness, probably due to cross contamination. Don't go. It's a mess.
This is a great place! We sat on outside deck. I have gf nachos and gf bbq wings, very good! The rest of my friends enjoyed there gluten food and the server and her manager were so friendly. They filled us in on so local breweries!
Lots of options- make sure you tell waiters because they have to modify to make it gf. Ordered nachos they were supposed to leave off the sauce that had gluten- but accidentally brought it out with the sauce. Luckily we caught it, but had to really pay attention. My son did love this place though, his favorite for our vacation.
I hadn’t been here in a couple of years, but remembered they had an extensive gluten-free menu. I was not disappointed. Lots of selections, servers who understood celiac and cross-contamination, and even had two managers come to the table to confirm that they spoke with the kitchen and the food would be safe.
Worst "gluten free" experience. Ordered from the gluten free menu was brought fried shrimp on top of my oysters. With bread on the side of my plate. Waitress took it back and the manager brought it back out. I could tell that all they did was peel the fried shrimp off and toss grilled ones on. When I picked up the grilled shrimp there was still reading stuck on the cheese. The kitchen also sent me 2 orders of sweet potato fries. The second came after we asked for our bill. This place is a mess.
We sat waiting for two and a half hours for a seat and our waitress who was the supervisor. She was horrible. The appetizers were cold and my boyfriends raw oysters were hot. We followed the flow of people just walking out after watching the kitchen crew fist fight with each other. Horrible experience. If you want a true shaggy experience go to the one in Biloxi Mississippi. The shaggys here in Pensacola needs better management. Sorry it makes me give them a star to leave a comment, they don't deserve that much.
They do have a GF menu here, but I'm not sure it's Celiac safe. The food was just okay. :-/
im sensitive to gluten, NOT CELIAC, so I can have cross contamination and therefore should not be taken as a source if you are very sensitive to cross contamination or contact, however, the managers here are very knowledgeable about what cross contamination is and what contains cross contamination risks. They also now have markings on theyre menu for each menu item that has a “gluten sensitive option available”. If you are like me and have a gluten allergy or sensitivity that is on the more mild side, this is a great option their tacos and bowls all have GS options available
Our server Bobby was super knowledgeable and said he wanted me to feel comfortable. I ordered the southwestern chicken bowl. He said he put on the order 3 times that there couldn't be cross contact due to an allergy. Unfortunately all chips, fries, etc are in a shared fryer so all that stuff was off the menu for me. The bowl came out with tortilla strips on it so I informed him it needed redone. He said the tortilla strips are not put in the fryer as they come in a bag from their supplier. Instead of leaving it at that, he went to the kitchen to double check the bag to confirm it was in fact gf which it was. The meal was so delicious and I have lots of leftovers. Our hostess even told our Bobby before he came over that I was gf so he came completely prepared. I highly recommend.
I can't speak to the safety as I didn't speak to a manager but they all seemed very accommodating and knowledgeable.
Good food, super knowledgeable waitress, all in our party left happy and full! GF and Dairy free in our group! No one got sick! 5 Stars for sure!❤😃
For our appetizer, we enjoyed a pound of the royal red shrimp. One of our gluten-free entrées was they gluten-free tacos with tuna and side of mixed vegetables.
The other gluten-free dish was one of the southwestern bowl with grilled chicken, rice, and vegetables.
Make sure they leave off the chips because there is not a dedicated fryer. Other than that it was a great view and delicious dinner with friends.
I went with my daughter for an early dinner. The menu was clearly marked, the wait staff was very knowledgeable about ingredients and preparation procedures for avoiding cross contamination, and the food was delicious! The vibe was fun and relaxed, and there was even live music. I will go again if I’m in town, and I am very sensitive and didn’t get sick at all, so I feel pretty safe.
