Really friendly staff and I told them up front I'm Celiac. It was a lunch rush on a weekend but they said that they would clean a part of the grill as best they can. I went really simple with cheeseburger with a gluten free bun. The fryer is not shared. 3 stars for gluten and but 5 star for service and communication.
So I have celiac and to be honest it’s kinda sketchy. Just for warning ⚠ needed to clear that up. I’ve eaten here a few times burger only and it’s been tasty AF. The crispy ends of the burger are my favorite. They seem to do the best they can but I can see how cross contamination would be easy. For me out of everything this place is worth the risk 😂 super tasty and fast. I recommend the smoke shack without the sauce and I add the gluten free bun lettuce, onion and pickles. No fries as the fryer is shared.
Gluten free buns available. I have celiac and didn’t get sick.

Most Shake Shack locations offer gluten-free buns for burgers. A lettuce wrap is also an option.

Poor service and no real options for GF folx. Pricey too but I like milk shakes.
The manager here (evenings anyway) is great at dealing with you and ensures things are decontaminated etc before he makes your burger
We stopped here in a pinch. They have a gluten free bun but I’m nervous with chains. But the manager was there and when asked about gluten free he explained the whole system, how they use separate tools, regular buns are toasted in a toaster and gluten free buns are the only bread that goes on the grill. He even offered that the fries were not in a dedicated fryer before we asked. It wasn’t busy and based on his knowledge I felt safe. It was a good burger, the bun got really mushy (probably rice based) but was nice in a pinch, no reaction. I’m not sure how I would feel about all locations but this one is a safe location for me.
Fries are unsafe because of a shared fryer, but burgers on a GF bun are safe! They recently updated the app and either removed the ability to mark allergies or made it really hard to find, so be careful when ordering with others getting gluten-containing buns.
Staff seems to be well trained or understanding about cross-contamination. I made an online order and they put my gf burger in the same container as my girlfriend’s (a regular burger), and they were touching. When we told them about the issue and that I am celiac, they remade the burger for free, and gave us free ice cream for the trouble.

Amazing fine fast food unlike the shake shack in the airport this is heaven if your celiac and visit Manhattan. Prices are reasonable compared to other restaurants in New York. But, food, quality,variety,options… I’d go as far as saying that as fast food if it’s for celiacs this place is unmatched from what I’ve experienced. The vibe inside is great too btw
