Casual, GF buns or burger wrapped in lettuce. Fryer is not gluten free.
We went in and I first asked about fries. The host said they were cooked in a dedicated fryer but contained soy (made me nervous since soy is not wheat/gluten). The person taking our order clarified that they are NOT in a dedicated fryer. We ordered a cheeseburger on a gf bun and had no reaction. My daughter enjoyed her burger and we left with full bellies!
Staff knew about gluten free and asked if it was a preference or allergy. To me that meant they were going to handle my order differently.
Gluten Free bun was dry, but show me a gluten free bun that's not LOL.
Fries are cooked in vegetable oil which is a no no for me due to cross contamination with winter wheat usually grown in the same fields as soy beans.
No problems after eating there.
Most Shake Shack locations offer gluten-free buns for burgers. A lettuce wrap is also an option.
Went straight to the counter to ask questions, the girl seemed unsure, but the manager came right over. We went over the options together and my son had a cheeseburger on a GF bun and some soft serve vanilla straight from the machine at the back. The manager actually prepared my son’s food himself to make sure it was done properly, and to put me at ease, and it was on its own tray. A little disappointed they don’t have a dedicated fryer, but not surprised with the breaded chicken items on the menu. Great service, though.
Very knowledgeable about allergies. They changed their gloves prior to making our food without is asking. Great food. Highly recommend.
They have gf buns & asked if it was a preference or allergy. Burger came marked with a gluten free sticker. Didn’t get fries so can’t speak to those, but so far no reaction!
Most shake shacks I've visited have been fine, this one was chaos and accidentally gave me a normal burger bun rather than the gluten free kind
Relatively quick. Hamburger was fresh off the grill, made to order. Good quality for a fast food place. Had the burger only, fries are cross contaminated.
8/28/24 update: Today I learned they cook gluten bread on the same surface they make the burgers. Very disappointing. They did offer to clean the grill off 1st. This explains why I would occasionally get sick. Sad because this was a favorite and staff and managers ALWAYS assured me I was safe. Sadly, they are missing important information for CC.
** previous review: They are very knowledgeable about CD. If I don’t get a cashier that is knowledgeable I always ask for a manager. They are very accommodating. They burgers are great and the GF bun tastes great too. The fryer is no a dedicated fryer so I don’t do the French fries. They always get my toppings for my burger from the back. Eaten here around 30 times and never gotten sick.
