The service had no clue what they were talking about and even got a little rude/huffy. I asked about the gf soy sauce as they claimed they had it. The bottle (labeled gf by them) turned out to have wheat when reading the ingredients. The food was not that good either. Would it recommend

Symptomatic Celiac

I have a severe gluten allergy and have been coming here to Hillsdale location for over 5 years. They pass my celiac test (throw up after 3 hours, sad but upside is I always know when Ive been exposed). Call them up and tell them you have a wheat allergy and they can accommodate. To be safe, I ask for all sashimi and sushi without wasabi (often thickened with corn starch) and they package my order separately on request. I also use my own soy sauce since we order to go these pandemic days.

I've safely had tasty sashimi and unagi (ask them to hold the furikake rice sprinkles if you're concerned like me). The sushi is fresh and above average (we're hard graders). Admittedly, I only eat sashimi and unagi here. This neighborhood restaurant always satisfies my sushi cravings and it's great to feel comfortable eating with less fear of being glutened.

Not many options for celiacs unless you're ok with just sashimi and nigiri, the waitress made that clear. At least they're up front about it. They did provide tamari, but as usual I brought my packets of gf soy sauce. No reason to take a chance on poorly labeled bottles of soy sauce. I did not get sick, and the fish is really fresh and delicious.

Half Moon Bay location not gluten free friendly at all. Asked about what was gluten free and the server said nothing. Really? Wow. Okay I will go somewhere else.

Descent sushi and I have never had a problem when I request all my food to be prepared without gluten or soy sauce. They said they would even keep a bottle of Tamari on hand for me if I wanted to bring one in. Nice people.
