I was a little skeptical but definitely listen when people say this is a must not miss! Just wanted to say a huge thanks to all the great tips and ideas here for eating GF in Omaha. We visited from Iowa all last week and had amazing food. Sharing the details for anyone else planning a trip soon:
I had the shucks puppies (they weren't marked but confirmed they can do basically anything fried gf) and fish and chips. It was outstanding, even my gluten eating bf loved it! Would definitely go back next time we are coming through town
A great find! We saw this reviewed and decided to try it. The fried fish and baby cakes ( potato rounds) were delicious! The coleslaw was good, too! Lots of gf options to choose from. They have great staff, are very careful, and mark your food with a gf skewer. We will be back!
Amazing food with knowledgeable staff! Gluten free food comes out of the kitchen with a little gluten free sign so you don’t have to question it. They have a separate fryer too. Everything was delicious, we will be coming back.
According to the manager, everything that is fried in this restaurant is gluten free. They do not fry anything that has gluten in it. They are the most knowledgeable about Celiac and cross contamination of any other place in Omaha. They are very careful to make sure things are correct and not cross contaminate. I have eaten here many times and never gotten sick. I am Celiac and very sensitive to cross contamination. I would recommend the calamari and the lobster sandwich!
This place is amazing! I got the gluten free fried shrimp as an appetizer and the chicken and chips for my meal. My tummy is happy and so am I. It was all delicious and my picky 2 year old even ate a bunch of shrimp and some of her dad’s Haddock. Lots of gluten free options and they’re even fried!
best place for gluten-free in Omaha! Owners wife has celiac so almost everything is gluten-free and everything is marked on the menu. Breading on the fish is already gluten free, and they have gluten free buns for the sandwiches. Only downside is they don’t do reservations and it can get busy in the evenings
The food was amazing! I had the fried calamari and the Cajun shrimp risotto with bread. None of it tasted gluten free but it was! No reaction at all from the food! They were all so friendly, helpful and accommodating. The chef even came out to talk to us about the menu!
I used to LOVE this place. Everything breaded in cornmeal! Cool! BUT the fries have changed and I believe they’re BREADED. COATED IN BATTER. I don’t think it’s cornmeal either. I got so sick the last couple times and the serves brush it off and cut you off stating “it’s gluten free” won’t even answer questions. I’m a server/bartender. I would never do this.
This place is amazing!! All of their fried foods are GF. And the seafood was fresh. The fried clam strips and Icelandic Haddock were great!!
I must say that this was definitely the best stop we decided to make, during our cross country trip!!
I have multiple gastro issues.,including Celiac disease.
Almost everything is done gluten free and absolutely delicious.
I got the pollock fish and tots and my daughter got jambalaya, both exceptional!!
This is well worth getting off the highway for!
While I’m not celiac my partner is and he says: “Very knowledgeable staff, eclectic and fun. Wonderfully racially mixed clientele. Fun pub-like atmosphere. Both squid and shrimp were fresh and excellent!!” And I agree…
Wynn was our waitress. She was awesome. We were so well taken care of and felt very confident about food safety. She was very knowledgeable about gluten free and made it effortless. My celiac daughter had calamari, catfish fingers, French fries. I highly recommend coming here. Huge portions and great food. Most everything can be done gluten free. They have a dedicated fryer.
My daughters were do excited to eat fried shrimp and calamari! Staff very knowledgeable about celiac, have a dedicated fryer, and were also extremely friendly and courteous!
Oh my goodness!! When I say the food tasted so good I thought I was “glutened” … it’s not an understatement! Shucks really out did themselves when it comes to their gluten free options! We the BREADED crispy shrimp, BREADED fish and chips and a BREADED spicy shrimp po’ boy! All of the food was fantastic and it was most definitely gluten free! No problems here at all! All of the food came out with little wooden skewer flags to alert the staff it was GF. Seriously, 10 of 10 stars AMAZING
Ordered fish and chips with shrimp appetizer. Waitress was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions without me even needing to ask her. Food tasted great, dedicated fry yes and no. Everything they fry is gluten free so they don’t need a separate fryer. She explained it’s all made with corn starch and they have someone come and certify their kitchen. They also have gluten free buns. If you want gluten free fried fish, shrimp, fries, or hash Browns. Then this is the place to eat!
My go to is Fish and Chips, but the Burger and Fries are delicious too! Meals marked gluten free from the kitchen.
Our server was so helpful and knowledgeable when I asked a ton of questions about making my meal gluten dairy and soy free. It came out perfectly and was so tasty! Highly recommend!
The food here was amazing! I can’t believe it took me so long to finally try it, but I’ll for sure be a regular now. The fried calamari and fried shrimp poboy were excellent. The roll they used for the sandwiches is one of the best GF rolls I’ve had, I even had my husband try a piece and he said it tasted like his gluten roll. I can’t wait to try the lobster roll and fish and chips! Plus it’s very affordable for seafood. We both got our meals, an appetizer, and hard cider/beer and our tab was $43 before the tip. Highly recommend.
Edit: I ended up getting glutened last time I ate at this location. I’m going to keep my original rating because I’ve eaten at this location several times and never had an issue, but personally I’ve been sticking to the pacific location since then.
They have a dedicated fryer, the best seafood in town, and attentive staff. We've been there so many times now that the staff automatically grab the GF menu for me. I've never once gotten sick from eating here and I've never had a bad meal either. If I could give them 6 stars I would!
Stopped here for lunch on the way to catch a flight at Eppley Airfield. The gluten free menu at this location had a more limited selection than the one listed online, but it was great to eat fish and chips again, and the food was delicious! I have Celiac, and did not get sick after eating here. The neighborhood looked a bit sketchy, though.
