Ate here on Mother's Day while traveling with my CD sons (adults). Both ordered the GF french toast (plain) and were satisfied with their orders. They reported no ill effects from CC during the next week. Given how busy it was for a holiday, Sunday brunch, we were more than pleased with the swift seating and service and care towards our special needs.
I have eaten at this Silver Diner location dozens of times this year. They have a gluten free bread that can be used to make sandwiches. I usually order the salmon or cod. The majority of the staff know exactly how to deal with handling an allergy, or someone with celiac. Generally I ask them to choose the “Gluten Allergy” button on their tablet, and to alert the chef. Their gluten free brownie Sunday is also excellent. Compared to other Silver Diner locations, this location is by far the best when it comes to knowledge about Celiac.
I ordered the gluten free quinoa coconut pancakes, and they were surprisingly delicious. They had a chocolate brownie with vanilla and chocolate ice cream marked as gluten free, yet their vanilla and chocolate shakes were not listed as gluten free. Both were made with Breyer's ice cream, and those flavors are gluten free. Furthermore, the allergen menu showed that these shakes were gluten free. I had one and did not get sick. Bottom line: the menu and the allergen guide are inconsistent.
I have celiac disease and have eaten here three times. First I got the seasonal shrimp and watermelon salad. Great stuff. The other two times I ate a burger with a gluten free bun. I ate the fries too. I did not get sick but I did not ask if there was a dedicated fryer for the fries so be cautious if you are extremely sensitive. I will definitely be back to try the beyond meat burger and other entrees. This place is always hopping so don't be surprised if the waitstaff is swiftly busting their ass. Lol!!
I had the gf summertime cod and it was delicious! Silver Diner has been great so far. Really great ingredients and a variety of options without compromising taste.
I didn’t felt safe -staff wasn’t knowledgeable of gluten free diet/items on menu. I was told to look for gf on the menu. Children’s menu gf choices- gf spaghetti and lamb meatballs (no information if they were gf), quinoa pancakes, and grilled cheese sandwich. Adult had very few choices with gf by it. I had to ask if they could make my daughter, 9, a gf cheese hamburger from adult menu - it wasn’t marked as gf item. I was told that a gluten free bun cost extra. Order came cheese wasn’t on the hamburger, my barbecue sauce for Barbque burger was missing - I asked for it to on the side, and daughter’s requested mayonnaise was missing. They never came to offer refills, if we needed anything, or ask if we wanted dessert. I had to flag down the waiter to get my bill. The restaurant was at quick pace but not “bust”.
They serve good burgers on gluten-free bread. There are also some salads and other menu options. I love their roasted veggies.
Very helpful, but limited menu. I'm sire they could do more, as they have great food
I would definitely not eat here if you are sensitive. I ordered a steak (which came with mashed potatoes and greens) where it was gluten-free if you asked for no fried onions. I was also told that there was little risk for cross contamination, but that they would mark my allergy. Unfortunately, my meal came out with bits of fried onion on the greens. I only noticed after I had started eating it. I assume they accidentally put it on the plate then removed them. I informed the waitress, who was very apologetic, and simply asked for the meal to be removed from the check. They were nice about it, but I regret eating there.
