*Update below* Kinda gluten friendly. No one really talked to us about the gluten free needs. They gave us a list of gluten friendly items and left us to figure it out on our own.
Edit: on further review. Asked for gluten free French toast. Food came and looked like regular bread to me, asked the waitress if it was gluten free she insisted that it was…… it most definitely was NOT gluten free bread. It was just brown bread. NOT a happy camper
Smittys made our dining experience so normal! My partner is celiac and the server didn’t skip a beat when we had questions. They have a full separate gluten free menu available and you can also make a few things on the regular menu gf as well. They have designated, different coloured plates for the gluten free meals. What a treat to not feel like an anomaly when going out to a restaurant. 11/10, we’re definitely making this place a staple.
One of my favourite breakfast spots to go to in truro, servers are very kind and knowledgeable and I have not had any issues. Before ordering I inform that I have Celiac and I usually replace deep fried hash browns with the shredded version as they are gluten free and they do not have a dedicated fryer but do prepare food separately, my order is always brought out separate from those that can have gluten as well and that itself is reassuring. Definitely recommend asking what is available and they will always let you know, there’s more than you think!
Myself and multiple celiac family members eat their all the time. they are very knowledgeable and they bring the gluten free items out separately. While they do not have a dedicated fryer, A lot of the items on the menu can be modified such as their skillets to use shredded hashbrowns instead of fried. 10/10 we will continue to be regulars.
