After traveling all day, using this app we stumbled into Smokehouse 41 BBQ. Anyone with celiac knows the relief when you ask the food preparer if they have GF food, and she whips off her gloves to change them and says "Of course!" She also changed cutting boards, knives and opened new packages of meat! It was amazing for us to eat pretty much whatever we wanted (I think there are 2 things on the menu that are not gf!) I am df too, and there was plenty for me to eat. And no nasty surprises later (getting sick!) Starting off our trip to Yosemite with a great meal at Smokehouse 41 BBQ was awesome!
Had dinner here tonight, great find. As mentioned, they changed the board and gloves for gf. Shared the ribs, brisket and pulled pork (last one was best) plus coleslaw, beans and twice baked potatoes. All was great. Got talking to a local and she said it was the barbecue place around and they drive 45 minutes to eat here. Highly recommend
Wow!! Absolutely delicious. Having read a review that it could do Gluten Free we decided to try it out and were not disappointed. My husband and I both had a two meat plate, I had ribs and 16 hour smoked pork and two sides of coleslaw (with a sweet dressing, not mayonnaise) and warm twice baked potato casserole. You could share one of these plates between two depending how hungry you are. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. As someone has said previously, as soon as I said that I was Celiac they used separate chopping boards and gloves to ensure no contamination. All meats are gluten free and all the sides except the mac and cheese were also gluten free. I’m not sure about the fries. Would highly recommend.
I stopped here out of Yosemite National Park with my husband and daughter.
Good BBQ in a real restaurant after a long day at the park.
I had the 41 Baker with pulled chicken on top. They did a great job of yelling “sanitary for celiac” and then using a whole new cutting board, changing gloves, a new chicken to pull from, and one person handling my food. I felt very safe.
Almost everything on the menu is gluten free except for the Mac and cheese and fries and bread.
Delicious barbecue! Staff take lots of precautions when it comes to celiac safety — they used fresh meat, new gloves, and a new cutting board + knife. Only 2 things on the menu are not gf (bread + mac n cheese). Would definitely recommend if staying in Oakhurst / visiting Yosemite!
Extremely celiac friendly and were very accommodating! I told them upfront I had celiac and the girl immediately said “No problem!” and the whole line of workers changed their gloves and cutting boards. Only things that have gluten were the Mac and cheese and rolls, basically everything else is safe. The brisket was 🔥🔥🔥
Absolutely fantastic food and felt so safe eating here. The staff were aware of what coeliac is, and knew what they needed to do to prevent cross contamination. My meat was prepared on a separate clean chopping board and the staff changed their gloves before handling my food.
Basically everything bar the mac n cheese, breads/sandwiches/burgers, fries (no dedicated fryer) and desserts is gluten free. I had the brisket and pork chops, with beans and coleslaw as sides. Everything was delicious. I wish we could eat here again, but it isn’t open on Mondays/Tuesdays!
I came on a Sunday when it was really busy, but felt completely safe. When I told the guy at the counter I had celiac, he immediately washed his hands, got new gloves, a new board, knife, and meat to cut from and made sure everyone else in the production line changed gloves as well. He even pulled a to-go box from a fresh stack. It gave me such a sense of relief! I got a pulled pork plate with coleslaw and the twice baked potato and it was DELICIOUS! While they don’t advertise the place as being gluten-free, the precautions they take and delicious food make it a must stop for someone with Celiac!
Great place for a gluten free bbq! The staff was very accommodating and knowledgeable. They switched gloves between each order without us asking and clearly took gluten contamination very seriously. On top of being extremely gluten friendly, the food was incredible. Would recommend and would love to go back next time we’re in town.
Smokehouse 41 blew me out of the water! After a long day of hiking, we were looking for anything I could eat. The cashier was not very kind when I asked what was gluten free. Thankfully I asked another staff member and she was able to check for me! Once in the line, I said I needed new gloves for celiac. Without a second thought, the man got new gloves, new knife, new cutting board and new meat. He let the whole line know I was celiac. I did not feel sick afterwards and it was delicious!
Great experience today! Although the shop was very busy the man at the order desk was more than helpful and enthusiastic 😍 he just changed gloves but did that again, got a new cutting board and knife, new „untouched“ meat and informed the colleagues who take care of the sides to also take new gloves and make sure no bread touches my food. Amazing experience! 🙂 not offen you feel that safe and „normal“
The most amazingly pleasant experience I’ve had eating in a restaurant. The young man carving offered a new board and knife when I said Celiac. I apologetically said that would be great. He made me feel welcome and NOT AT ALL like it was an inconvenience! The rest of the staff all knew what was gluten free like it was no big deal!! I’m so pleased to be “no big deal!!!” Usually restaurant staff either doesn’t know gluten is or acts like it’s an imposition. This was such a fantastic experience!!! Going back tomorrow!!!!
Yummy, safe BBQ!! Came here because of other reviews and was not disappointed. The staff was super accommodating and understanding. I was told everything is GF except the bread products and Mac n cheese. For the meat I ordered, they washed hands, changed gloves, and cut on a clean cutting board with a clean knife. I even got to try a local GF cider! Highly recommend
Fantastic experience. The staff was very knowledgeable about gluten free concerns. They changed gloves, used new utensils, and opened a new container of meat for the two celiacs in our group. One of our celiacs had kids pulled pork, the other has pulled chicken, no reaction for either. And…DELICIOUS!
My non-gluten intolerant husband really wanted to try this place because of its rave reviews online. We called ahead to inquire about gluten-free options and were told that their sauces and rubs are all made in-house and are gluten free.
I tried the stuffed sweet potato with pulled pork and their signature BBQ sauce. It was absolutely amazing and didn’t make me sick afterwards!
