Went because they have “gluten-free” menu. But it is not really gluten-free because there is not a dedicated fryer. So the “gluten-free” nachos are not really “gluten-free“ because the “gluten-free” pork is put on a bed of homemade potato chips fried in the fryer… we were not told this when we ordered. Fortunately, the woman who brought our order to the table let us know, and we had to order another dish for my daughter. She ended up, ordering a platter with pulled pork, beans, and collards, but they plopped a large piece of garlic bread right in the center of the plate. 🙄
We were very disappointed with our experience. We were excited to see such a great gluten free menu online. When we arrived we explained to the waitress my son has celiac and asked for the gluten free menu. She said that there is really no safe items for anyone with celiac due to cross contamination as everything is cooked on shared surfaces and shared air fryer. The chef said he could use a separate clean skillet to cook the burger, but that was it. It was brought out in a basket served on top of their homemade chips which are not celiac safe. The manager had them cook a new burger and brought it out alone. They could not confirm if ketchup was gluten free. I will not return here and do not feel like their “gluten free” items are safe for people with celiac.
Extensive gluten free menu is available if you ask. Very good food. Waitstaff is very knowledgeable and can let you know which bbq sauces are safe! All 3 restaurants owned by this family (Sharkeys, Fins and Snook Haven) have gluten free menus and my celiac plagued family feel comfortable eating at them.
This "old Florida" institution has been here forever, but it wasn't GF friendly years ago. Thy have a GF menu, two GF BBQ sauces and a good understanding of our issue. No GF bread alternatives. Glad to see that I can go to our old stomping grounds and eat well.
