They have gluten free bread. If you want French toast they do it on the same grill as regular, but they “scrape it the best that they can”. I stayed away from that and got an egg sandwich. Eggs are on a different grill. Food was just okay.
Late lunch. Friendly place.. the waitress also has to eat gluten free. Service was quick. The gluten free white toast was delicious, unfortunately they had run out of gluten free English muffins..I had scramble eggs with cream cheese Avocado and sausage., excellent home fries .. My body did not get sick afterwards. Will be returning.
I got a breakfast sandwich on a gluten free English muffin & it was delicious! The chai tea was also really good. Didn't get sick at all & I would 100% eat here again
Ate breakfast here yesterday morning just like we always do when staying in Mystic Area. I had the gluten free French toast and it was delicious as always. I have Celiac and am extremely sensitive. They were very busy but the server took the time to explain everything on the menu that I could have. And she also explained that they would wipe down grill and be sure to use separate egg wash They do not have a separate area but are extremely careful about cross contamination
An unfortunate end for vacation. My wife and I stopped in looking for a local breakfast place with gluten sensitive options for her. We were greeted instantly and waited about 5 min to be seated which wasn't bad at all. From there we were asked what we would like to drink. My wife stated a small orange juice and a coffee and I had a chai. The server stated she is welcome to help herself to coffee while she got the drinks but did not indicate where the coffee was located. Not the worst thing in the world but would be helpful to know where to go rather than wander in a fairly busy place we've never been to. The drinks were presented to us by a different server who simply walked away after doing so. Following this, a third server took our order and we ordered French toast for myself and a gluten free grilled cheese for her. We indicated it was an allergy to which she assured this would be prepared separately as to not be cross contaminated. Here's the important part; we waited for nearly 35-40 minutes for anyone to see us after that point. My wife even noted that a table across from us who had come in after had already received their food which was substantially more than ours. We also noted they were regulars based on the conversation with their server welcoming them back for their 8th year in and perhaps that's why they received the order faster. We were then approached by the third server from the above mentioned wait who asked, "did you all get your food?" To which we stated we did not. She replied, "I didn't think so, let me go check." We were then left for another 10 minutes until the first server brought us our food. After finishing the meal we were quickly met with the first server again who stated she would grab the check. This was the quickest part of the experience which took maybe 2 min. When presented with the check, she stated the drinks were taken off due to the wait. While it was appreciated, the drinks taken off were the $2 orange juice and a $4 chai vs. a $30 meal. Now by all means we're not asking for any handouts nor did anyone have to comp anything as we did not ask for anything to be credited. Based on what transpired however, we felt it could've been handled a little better. Food wise, unfortunately the French toast for me had hints of onion/peppers that were prepared in the same area as omelettes but it was not bad. For my wife however, the grilled cheese had in fact been cross contaminated leading to her feeling sick afterwards. We assume it was rushed to be made upon realizing the food was never made to begin with. Whether it be from staffing shortages, where we were seated, or just because it may be busier than they're accustomed; based on this experience and lack of care for allergies/ preparation/ delivery of food as well as service we can not recommend this place or return in the future.
I had The Sampler for breakfast. It included two eggs, two sausage, two bacon, home fries, two pcs toast, and substituted pancake for a piece of French toast (now 2 pieces). It was sooo good and no issues. Server was very personable and knowledgeable of GF. Asked how severe reaction was and assured me that items are cooked separately. Pumpkin spice coffee was great too. Highly recommend eating here. Enjoy!!!
My daughter (Celiac) and I (not Celiac) had breakfast here yesterday morning and I must rave about them. As soon as I told the server that my daughter had to be GF, she launched into describing what they offer (a lot!) and how it would all be safely prepared in a separate pan, etc for no risk of CC. She said if my daughter wanted French toast, it would be prepared with a separate, safe egg bath. She also stated that in addition to writing the necessity on our order slip, it would be verbally communicated to the cook. At one point while looking at the menu, she happened to overhear us talking about homefries and made a point of letting us know that the homefries are Celiac-safe, as well. When our order was brought to the table, the waitress even noticed that they put my wheat toast on top of the homefries and offered to bring us a new portion. I hadn't even picked up on that yet! I felt very confident, as did my daughter. She even commented how 'this is going to be our breakfast place!' Highly recommend and already looking forward to when we can go back.
Safe food but gross! Toast is grilled on the grill so it’s not toasted at all. Waitress made me feel like I was bothering her asking for GF. Asked for well done eggs but got egg yolks that were barely cooked. None of us liked our food. I gave it 3 stars because we didn’t get sick.
Kinds feels like you stepped into a time machine in a good way. Very cute and family friendly! Gluten free choices will blow your mind! Never have I ever had better gf bread or English muffins. English muffin was light and the texture of a croissant! The bread was light and fluffy as well. It made excellent French toast! Wait staff was very knowledgeable and happy to explain and accommodate. You seriously cannot ask for more. Totally worth going here for breakfast or lunch! We will go back!
I am unfamiliar with this area but found this café through this app. I called ahead to order takeout so I don’t have anything to offer re the ambiance, etc.
I got a sandwich (BLT with chicken) they put it on GF bread. It was really good.
It came with chips; I foolishly assumed they were single serving packages but they were loose in the box with the sandwich. I ate some; my stomach doesn’t feel great.
I shouldn’t have eaten the chips and my gut (haha get it?) says there is cross contamination. Sandwich was good, but the tummy ache I already feel is not so good.
Found this little place on the app, my daughter has celiac and the staff was beyond accommodating and careful, re- cleaning equipment and cooking her food separately! She has GF French toast for the first time and LOVED it!
This was such a wonderful find thanks to the Find Me Gluten Free app! I went three mornings in a row - because when you find someplace with great food that is safe, you don't go just once! I had gluten free French Toast - OMG it was so good. I also had their hash browns with bacon. The other two days I had different omelettes. All were delicious. The staff is very knowledgeable. I can't wait until my next visit to Mystic so I can go again.
The food was excellent and the staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. I had an omelet made in a separate pan and gluten-free bread...they checked with me about toasting the bread. I didn't have it toasted because there wasn't a dedicated toaster...but the bread was wonderful! I will be returning soon!
Needed breakfast for my son who has celiac and this was a great little place that offered gf French toast by request and assured me that all eggs are prepared on gf pans.
Educated staff, good service and celiac safe ! Many great options including French toast, omelets, breakfast sandwiches and even homefries.
Sister restaurant to When Pigs Fly in Waterford. They have amazing gf English muffins and they will make gf French toast with their gf bread. Unlimited refills on coffee also.
