Having eaten at many similar places in Newark and such, we assumed that I could have a nice traditional meal. Unfortunately it turns out that every sauce contains gluten and they are all pre-made. Also the biggest shocker is that their yellow rice contains gluten as well. Yes that is right, their yellow saffron rice contains wheat as part of the flavoring. So this rules out paella or most meals short of plain rice and meat. I ended up getting the surf and turf which ended up being dry and flavorless.

Now for the good, the waiter was knowledgeable, friendly and kept me from ordering items that I would have just assume were GF. Also the chef made me a gf soup which was very tasty (oh yeah their soups all have wheat as well) and was able to modify the broccoli rabe appetizer so I could have that as most of the items again contained wheat.

The waiter did say that they were looking to add a gluten free menu in January since they get a lot of requests for gluten free dining. I am hopeful that this is true and would certainly try it again if they change their recipes to be gluten free. I will certainly post a new review if this happens.
