We love going to SMG, but it’s hard for me to eat there with a gluten allergy. Although they offer a GF pizza crust, I’ve gotten sick both of the times I’ve tried it (figured there was an honest cross-contamination mistake the first time, so I decided to try another go). Staff assured me they take care in GF dishes, but no explanation for becoming ill right after...🤷🏻♀️. Still enjoy going to view a movie, but wish there was more care.
We had their GF pizza and it definitely was not GF.
Not a good experience on our first try. We asked all the right questions, and server gave us the answers without even checking. OK, great, seems to know what she's doing. We get our food and the person who delivers it says: these fries aren't gluten-free! I responded, "but we asked" the server whisked the fries away as well as our burgers with gluten-free buns. It took a very long time to get our second burgers which had fruit with them. OK. Cool. I get about three bites into mine when the same server comes over and says, about my burger, "that burger bun isn't gluten-free!" She whisked my food away again. Comes back a third time with a burger with a gluten-free bun. Of course about half an hour later, I have to go use the bathroom. See the server in the hallway, and thank her for taking care of our food. We have a whole conversation in which it turns out she whisked the fries away because of fryer contamination rather than actual flour on the potatoes. A question or warning about that would've been enough. In addition, had she just simply left our burgers with a warning, I wouldn't have gotten glutened. (We seem to be okay with fryers) I requested that they either don't offer gluten free foods or that they know how they work and train the servers accordingly. Her response was, "they're just kids." If they're working in a restaurant, they need to know allergy issues. And they need proper training. The burgers were very good, but know what you're in for.and consider getting there early enough to order so that the movie doesn't distract from communicating with your server. So, yes, they have gluten-free food, but they don't necessarily know what they're doing.
Place was a lot of fun. Burgers were definitely good with their gf buns!
Informed the waiter I had a gluten allergy. He said they have gluten free buns and pizza crust. Had chips & salsa and the bbq chicken pizza on gluten free crust. Both were good. Chips are thicker, which I like. Pizza was good.
When I walked in, I asked for a gluten free menu and the hostess said they had nothing gluten free as I turned to a page in the menu with gluten free buns... Then I was reassured that it would be safe by the waitress who seemed to be clueless as to what celiac disease was. I was very ill the next morning. I do not recommend. They didn't even get back with me about my complaint.
The only reviews on this location were a few years old, so I decided to give the gluten free pizza a try this weekend, hoping they've improved their practices. Nope. I ordered the gluten free pizza and went over the importance of my food not touching anything else, changing gloves before making my food, and cooking my pizza on a separate surface. And I still got glutened. Also, the pizza was kind of gross. I ate several pieces because I was really hungry (and it was palatable, not terrible), but I didn't enjoy it, had a headache and upset stomach before the movie was over, and have spent the whole weekend being sick. :( if you must eat here, sneak in your own food or eat the packaged candy if you know it's safe.
I ate here last night. Ordered the GF cheeseburger with a side of fruit. Waitress assured me she would talk to the kitchen staff and make sure they changed their gloves, etc. I'm so sick today, and I won't be risking it again.
Gave me a regular bun instead of gluten free. Pay attention before you start eating. I already took several large bites. Also since they have fried breaded items, odds are that the French fries are cooked in the same oil so I certainly wouldn't classify it as gluten free friendly. At least they have fruit as an option as a side. Pay attention to bun!! Judging by everything else I wouldn't try the pizza as highly likely its contaminated.
I ordered gluten free pizza, the pizza delivered to me looked "too good" to be gluten free, so I stopped a server to ask if this was the gluten free pizza and he said yes and it wasn't his problem. It was absolutely gluten-filled pizza.
They have finally changed their menu again to show that they do serve gluten free items (such as pizza crusts and buns). They change their menus frequently, so always ask every time you go. Gluten free pizza and nachos are awesome.
I wish I did not give then even one star! This review is actually for the one in DULUTH but I don't see theres on here. terrible place for celiacs...2x got sick from eating here. last time I told the manager and he was a complete rude idiot. He told me I didn't know what I was taking about. ...wait staff had no idea what gf was. .. brought me a glutenous bun by accident then glutenous fries. THIS PLACE IS NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY. ..the manager was a waste of time to talk to. They Should stop saying they are offering gf. . They DON'T
No gluten free menu or options. Food is subpar. Ordered myself a burger that came with soggy fries and the burger itself pretty bland. On the plus side, my husband is Celiac and has been fine eating the chicken nachos (has had these 3 times before without being glutened). That is the only food he will eat there. We do love the combined movie and drink option but the food itself leaves much to be desired. TIP: reserve your seats early online or buy your tickets in advance as you have to select your seats at the time of purchase.
I normally stick with the pepperoni pizza. Last month, I tried one of their new artisan pizzas, and I think there was something glutenous in the toppings. A few months ago on a busy night, I attempted to order a burger with a gluten free bun, but they kept bringing it out with glutenous items on my plate, so I wound up asking for a pizza instead. Other than those two instances, I've never had an issue with the food, and my husband and I always enjoy going here.
I just recently went here to watch Ironman 3 and I got the GF pizza. I really appreciate the effort they made to provide gluten free options so I can enjoy the experience with my girlfriend, but I have to say that the GF pizza was terrible. I managed two pieces and then had to stop. I haven't had any reaction so I'm sure I'll end up trying something else there, but I'm not sure what. The biggest disappointment for me is that although they have GF buns, they don't have GF fries. Still I appreciate the effort and I'm sure that I'll go again.
I had a pizza the other night, it was tasty, the crust was soft, slightly doughy (think school pizza when you were little). It was served in a foil type tray, which seemed like the tray it came in (seems to be the newest way to reduce cross contamination). The server, nor the kitchen could tell me whether certain toppings were gf though, so be cautious. They also offer gf buns now too, but I haven't tried them.
