Four different items were marked GF, but weren’t. Fortunately, our waiter was very careful. He kept coming back to the table to say, “I’m really sorry. The <such-and-such> isn’t gluten free either.” Why write“GF” on the menu if it’s not? I really can’t recommend this place. The food wasn’t even that good.

Items clearly marked GF on the menu. Fantastic burgers! Also had an perfectly cooked double pork chop on our second night dining here, New owners did a nice job on the remodel. A go-to for our annual Rehoboth Beach vacation.

Servers did not seem confident about gluten free menu. Ordered the crab cakes, steamed broccoli and a baked potato. They brought a baked potato loaded with bacon, which I had no idea if it was gluten free. At that point I had stuck my fork in the potato and in the crab cake. Whole dish ruined. They remade it without complaint but I was really just too nervous to enjoy. Crab cake lacked flavor in general. We were supposed to return later this week but we’ll be trying somewhere else.

Happy to have found Summer House. They have a gluten-free menu with enough variety that I felt I had some options. The waiter, Justin, noticed I had the gluten-free menu and commented that they take allergies very seriously. I had the fish tacos, which were very good. They offered GF crab cakes. Soup was not GF which was disappointing. Overall very happy with the options and the service.

Similar to the last post, when we checked in, the manager was at the hostess desk. She handed me a gluten free menu when I asked, but said that they were in the process of updating the menu to match their regular menu, so it would be best for her to come by the table to discuss what they could do. She never came.

Based on other’s recommendations, I ordered the crab cakes. They weren’t the best I’ve ever had, not the worst. But, no contamination/illness so that’s a plus. Hopefully once they get their menu updated, it will be easier to navigate.

I had high hopes based on the reviews, but this place was a bust. The manager greeted us at the door, assured us "most" of the menu was available GF, and that she would personally check in on us at our table. Well, she never bothered to stop by in the 45 minutes we were there, and our waiter shot down most of the things we tried to order. I credit the server for being up-front and knowledgeable and not talking us into ordering the wrong foods, but the manager really dropped the ball.

The food was mediocre. The service was spotty. The restaurant wasn't exactly clean. I'd describe it as a half step up from a dive to be honest.

The icing on the cake was my wife got sick about an hour after we left. I don't think it was gluten. I think it was just poor food safety. Definitely not returning to Summer House!

Make sure to ask for GF menu! GF crab cakes were great. Waitress knew about GF and manager delivered the food and let us know it was prepared safely.

They do have a dedicated gluten free menu and the manager brings your food to the table explaining that they take food allergies seriously and to let her know if I have any concerns. My family and I had lunch here. Similar to Big Fish Grill they have a separate gluten free menu and the manager comes out and speaks with you and delivers your food to the table. I had baked wings and a large salad. Several gluten free options and kind servers. We will return the next time we are in the area.

We had a server who was knowledgeable of the disease and need for precautions when preparing food. A manager stopped by and relayed that she was aware of my need for GF and that the restaurant takes steps to prepare the food properly. The manager did this on their own which was reassuring. We struck up a conversation with a foursome near us. They had a member of their group who has Celiac disease. She indicated she eats at Summer House when in town as she feels confident in their food preparation and enjoys the food.

The staff was awesome! They were really knowledgeable and the manager takes great care of you if you specifie that it’s for celiac. I had Fillet mignon and twice baked potatoes and it was delicious. Highly recommend

Food is good (especially the slaw!!!!) and portions are generous. They do take reservations. It is a popular place with young families.

All staff from reception to servers recognized "celiac disease." Good GF menu with several choices for each course. I had lobster bisque which was delicious (served with packet of wheat flour saltines 😢 so someone wasn't thinking, made me a little nervous but was assured it was GF), crab cakes were also wonderful with side of Yukon gold mashed potatoes. Portion was large enough I took some home for next day's lunch in a much appreciated cardboard takeaway box (we generally refuse plastic or Styrofoam for environmental reasons). Will definitely eat here again

Amazing food! Our waitress was more like 2 stars...not five. But basing this on gluten free options and food, it was absolutely delicious.

I was disappointed. My food was just ok- shrimp and scallops over vegetables, not much flavor. My daughter's steak was too charred for her to eat. Maybe they were having an off night. All in all its good that they have a gluten free menu, but my experience was just mediocre.

They had a great menu and waitress was very helpful! Loved the food too!

The menu is limited but what they have is excellent. They are one of the few restaurants that no blue cheese contains gluten. My experience was good and 45 minutes later I am not sick.

Super disappointing. Gf crab cake was good but tiny. I left hungry. Not a very large selection of gluten free items.

Large gluten free menu. When our waitress was told about celiac disease she sent the manager over to take my son's order. He also delivered the meal as soon as it was ready to ensure nothing happened to his meal. Only drawback is the shared fryer so he couldn't have French fries:(. We will plan to go back to Summerhouse next time we're at the beach.
