The food at this restaurant is outstanding, but if you are a Celiac I would suggest you do not go. The kitchen is very small and all they can offer is substitutions.
Upon a recent visit there, we requested a gluten-free bun to be used as french toast for my granddaughter. It was not until after she got sick that we asked our friends who were with us whether she got squares or circles. Each independently collaborated that she received triangles for her French toast, Indicating that she had, indeed, received a glutened meal.
We, in the GF community hold a responsibility to inspect our own food, but we also entrust ourselves to the staff who are offering to meet our needs.
I returned to the restaurant and asked that the staff be re-educated on the seriousness of food sensitivities and allergies, but once again, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone suffering from Celiac.
No separate frier, and many products are breaded. Be careful with allergy or celiac. Food is decent otherwise.
Nice place but small kitchen and serving area. They don’t have a gf menu but they did take care of cross contamination for me. I had cheese omelette and potatoes. Was yummy and no issues
Found this Cafe on here while traveling to NJ. We ordered to go and were pleased with our experience! The GF options were pretty good and the staff was really knowledgeable! Wish we had a Sunny Day Cafe in South MS.
Have been a few times. No gf menu but they have a gf roll and are willing to cook things a separate surface. Have never been sick when eating there.
I had a “banana split” minus granola. It was delicious. However, my server didn’t seem too worried about helping me order anything gluten free. She said the banana split and avocado toast were the only real options. Omelettes were not a “safe” choice.
I get breakfast sandwiches and burgers from here with a gluten free bun on a weekly basis, never had any issues with food and super friendly. Online ordering has been a bit finicky for gluten free items being listed but I always call and get great service.
Went on a busy Saturday, so we were skeptical. They did have the GF rolls, which were a good texture. Excellent service, servers didn't bat an eye when my husband said he had celiac. Food was good and he did not get sick.
Although this place has good food their only gf option is a gf roll which they were out of when I ate there. Too little effort to classify as gf friendly in my book.
Nice place. They care about their food and their service - that's clear. On the day we were there, they had no GF rolls, which were on the menu, but I still recommend SDC. Food was great!
Great service! Knowledgable staff. Great sandwiches and breakfast!
