Surfside Beach Pizza & Restaurant

Although I know that it is very difficult to avoid cross contamination in a pizzeria, I decided to try this place because of the great ratings. The waitress seemed very knowledgeable and mentioned that although they know there is the risk of cross contamination, they have regular customers who don’t seem to get sick. Sadly that was not the case for me. After eating part of an antipasto, which was delicious, and part of a very bland, flat gluten free pizza, I am in a lot of pain. (I do have Celiac and am very sensitive).

My two year old son has Celiac and we have eaten here on multiple occasions and have never had a bad experience. He is EXTREMELY sensitive and has not once gotten a reaction. The staff is amazing and this will forever be one of the only pizza places that we patron.

Good gf margherita pizza with fresh ingredients. They cook it in a separate foil pan so it does not get contaminated in the oven. Tasted great and did not get sick. While I was there, 4 others came in and ordered gf pizzas so they are used to it. Would definitely return!

Staff was very knowledgeable and there were plenty of pizza options. My pizza was really good and I didn’t have even the slightest cramp, which says a lot! I have Celiac and get so very sick with cross contamination. I actually hadn’t eaten pizza out in about 9 months because I’d gotten so sick the last time I ate local pizza back home. I would definitely recommend them!

Currently not safe for celiacs. We were warned that due to short staffing, they were not able to guarantee no cross-contamination. Appreciate the honesty but I was very disappointed considering the good rating.

Staff very knowledgeable, they make and use separate ingredients to ensure no cross contamination. Used separate Pizza cutter and cooked Pizza in a separate disposable Pan. Pizza was very good, crust was one of the best I have had! I do have Celiac.

We thoroughly enjoyed Surfside Beach Pizza! What a wonderful little spot. Their GF pizza was fantastic. Crispy crust. Perfect portion. All but two toppings are GF. The toppings are separate for GF pizzas and made in a separate place. It’s cooked in the same oven but on a separate pan. And it’s brought out separately. The staff was very attentive and concerned about our gluten free questions.

The pizza was delicious!! They were out of the chocolate cake when I went, but said it was delicious so to check back again! Other people in my family had the regular pizza and said it was delicious! They were super friendly and super knowledgeable about their gluten free procedures and were happy to answer any questions I had!

No longer have the ravioli but still have the GF pizza. Went there for the ravioli so was disappointed. However got the pizza and it was really good.

Excellent GF pizza! Thin but perfectly crisp. Second time here and the place was packed, great sign for good food! Definitely will be back on our next vacation.

Excellent gluten free pepperoni pizza. The chocolate cake was good too.

My 11yo celiac daughter had the gf pepperoni pizza. She loved it so much we went back a second time during our stay. All of the staff was very knowledgeable about GF and explained how the pizza would be handled. GF is prepared in a separate area with separate utensils and separate ingredients. We would definitely come back again!

Staff were super friendly and engaging. Also knowledgeable about gf & cross contamination. I had the gf pizza with light sauce, cheese, ham & bacon. We also got an order of the gf ravioli. Both were very good. No reactions after eating there.

We you'll be pleasantlysurprised at the staff there cordial friendly and outgoing that take time to explain each item that is both Celiac and gluten friendly or gluten free there are options to include ravioli as well as Pizza and you may also find occasionally on the specials stuffed peppers they atmosphere is laid-back and not stuffy like a nearby business, that offers a more refined dining with cloth tablecloths and napkins and not so gluten friendly

Server very knowledgeable about cross-contamination! The gluten free pizza and gluten free geese ravioli were excellent and our server was able to tell us with confidence which pizza toppings were safe and which sauces were safe. Would definitely return!

after great reviews, we went with high hopes. the gf ravioli tasted frozen/freezer burnt. boyfriend didn't have good experience with the pizza or wings either, sadly

11/11/17 People raved about gf ravioli, but they didn't have any when I got here. My only options were gf pizza or a salad. I got the pizza. The server said they keep it completely separate from the other pizza. It was thin crust and crispy. It was really good! My brother and husband who are not gf also enjoyed it.

So yummy! I was torn between the GF pizza and the GF cheese ravioli. Settled on the pizza. The sauce wasn't sweet and the crust was thin and crispy. So good! I planned on taking half of it home, but it was too good! 😋 My GF pizza with pepperoni and glass of water was less than $10. SCORE!

Place gets very busy so plan ahead. Safe for all with celiac. Recommend this place.

Best place so far at the beach. I had the gluten free ravioli with sausage and a ala vodka sauce. Dish was incredible. My son got a GF pizza which was delicious. Service and food were top notch.

Awesome GF pizza. Standard GF crust, but with the NY style sauce and toppings, so good.

If you get the ravioli, order the Ala Vodka sauce. It was heaven!! Waitress seemed knowledgeable about what was and wasn't gluten free and they had Red Bridge Beer. Cute little pizza joint and oh how I wish I could have ordered their regular pizzas because they looked amazing.

We thought pizza was ok, we drove a long way because of the reviews and was disappointed. Baked zita was good though. I didn't think the owner was very friendly and when she brought us boxes ( we ordered three and had lots of leftovers) she brought us three styrofoam containers ( I'm sure they are cheaper) that we had to pile in our pizza on top of each other. Would not make the trip for this restaurant nor would I recommend. As far as gluten free, as we was eating our zita she came out and said "you know that's not gluten free", my heart stopped and then upon closer examination she said "oh yes it is" are waiter did close to the same thing, so makes me wonder of the safety and carefulness. So far so good on not being sick though.

Gf pizza was delicious with crispy crust and lots of cheese and veggies. Make sure you stress you are celiac. They said they bake the pizza on a dedicated tray and have dedicated cutter. However, I was told they bake pizza in the same oven as regular pizzas. Another reviewer said they were separate. As with any pizza place, potential for cc, but I did fine.

Chocolate cake was to die for!!! Pizza was very good too. Loved it!

Gluten free pizza was thin and crispy. Delicious sauce with fresh toppings. Our very friendly waiter actually made my GF pizza because the kitchen staff touches the other flour and they don't want cross contamination. The non GF pizza and dinners were very good according to the rest of my family. We will definitely visit again!

PHENOMENAL gluten free, celiac friendly food. I'm talking NY style gluten free pizza and pasta which is SO hard to find where I'm from. We had the white GF pizza and were told ALL pasta sauces were GF to go with the GF ravioli!! OMG their ravioli Alfredo was worlds beyond OG's gluten filled pasta. We STUFFED ourselves! We are going to have to make this sweet, family owned establishment a twice-a-week vacation destination! The owners and the one daughter we spoke with were the friendliest, most accommodating folks we've encountered at the beach. We didn't even get "looks" from anyone being an interracial married couple (which sadly still happens, even in the 21st century). I'm seriously sad that we are leaving in a few days...but we are still going to try to fit in another visit!!!

This is one of the best gluten-free pizzerias I have ever been to. The waitress was very knowledgeable and the pizza I had was reminiscent of the pizzas I had in Italy (prior to my diagnosis). Fantastic pizza, also have GF ravioli and GF chocolate cake. Will try those another time. 6 out of 5 stars!

Loved the GF ravioli stuffed with cheese with GF Alfredo sauce. Also, my brother had GF pizza with ham and sausage was delicious as well. The only complaint would be the service although they were extremely busy we had some confusion as to which dishes ordered were/were not GF in the end it turned out fine and was a great meal.
