I can't say enough good things about this place. We started out last year just going for their large variety of cupcakes, but today we also decided to eat lunch there. They serve some of the best Indian food I've tasted in years, with a surprising mix of Caribbean items, plus there are less-ethnic menu items such as pizza (good, but not amazing) and burgers on GF buns. There is also a large breakfast menu, which we have not sampled yet. The entire restaurant is GF and most items can be made without other allergens like dairy or nuts. There is also GF beer available.
Best GF bakery in Bmore area so far! The HOSTESS CUPCAKES ARE TO DIE FOR!! Love this place!
Good food, baked goods were the highlight! Friendly staff, but my non-celiac family members didn't like it very much.
Heaven!! Cinnamon rolls and French toast are awesome! Can't wait to go back.
EVERYTHING is GF! Chocolate chip muffin was moist & didn't crumble like many gf treats do. Very good. Also had hash browns & toast. Hash browns have others spices in it that provides a little "kick." Worth a try.
I consider my trip to Baltimore a success because we found sweet 27! We had breakfast this morning: gluten free pancakes AND the best cinnamon bun you will ever have (gf or not)! We plan to go back tonight for dinner.. that's how good it is! Totally gf restaurant, so you pose no fear of cross-contamination!
oh my goodness. delicious food, kind and lovely staff, everything is gf. so good. go there!
The entire menu is gluten free! I have celiac's, so being able to share appetizers and desserts with friends while out to dinner is definitely unusual for me, and I really enjoyed doing that here. I ate at the bar/restaurant, and shared 2 appetizers, had a curry entree, and shared a dessert. All were tasty, and I did not get sick afterwards. The menu is very eclectic (tacos, curries, burgers, etc), but everything my friends and I ate was good. I was visiting from out of town, but would definitely return.
great options. I have celiac and I was able to eat pancakes, cinnamon bun, and cupcakes. all were delicous and had no reaction afterwards.
cupcakes were amazing!
this place hasn't changed in years, good treats, interesting menu. atmosphere could use a little help
A mix of Indian dishes and conventional baked goods. Come for the cupcakes.
It was super to have soooo many options. However, I was a little saddened that they couldn't sub things out, due to allergies. Seems ironic but I guess nothing is perfect. Definitely worth a visit.
We visited Baltimore and needed to find gf food for lunch. We were pleasantly surprised by the Wonderfully spicy food, and especially enjoyed the duck tacos! The potato fritters were also delicious and filling. Be warned, portions are huge, so order to share, except for the cinnamon rolls, they are too good to share, just go to the gym afterwards.
I have been going to this cafe/restaurant since it was just a cafe called Sweet Sin...needless to say I'm still around because the food rarely disappoints. I have gone by myself and with others and have always had a pleasant experience. I can say that the sweet potato fries are my least favorite item on the menu as they are battered in chickpea flour which being gluten sensitive I can appreciate but as far as I'm concerned, sweet potato fries are deelish on their own and don't need to be overdressed. The pizza was really good except for the crust which should have perhaps been baked seperately before toppings were added to prevent sogginess.
The BEST gf cupcakes I have EVER had!!!
The food is EH but it's a safe place to go for a meal as a Celiac. My favorite thing about Sweet27 is when they swank up the menu for Valentine's Day. They raise the prices but it is so worth it to get a fancy meal without any fear of gluten.
Food was good. Servers were fine. I was treated horribly by the owner.
I've been eating at Sweet 27 with gluten-sensitive friends since before knowing I had serious problems with gluten myself, and I can say from our shared experiences that things are really hit-or-miss for Sweet 27 when it comes to getting sick. Compared to Harmony Bakery up in Hampden and the always-reliable One Dish Cuisine down south, I've been sick after eating at Sweet 27 far more than I now find acceptable knowing that I have safer, reliable alternatives. Certainly not every time has resulted in the gluten flu, but you and I both know that once is more than enough. (An extra note: a lot of their baked items have dairy in them, so please ask questions if you are also lactose/casein intolerant.) I'm grateful that Sweet 27 is here, but for those who are particularly sensitive, I would use a lot of caution.
Beautiful and delicious cupcakes
The Pastries were Divine! Not only All GF..many Dairy Free options as well. I was in area on vacation & this app led me rt.to them. Happy I found it! Off the beaten path a bit..but worth the detour😊
Great unique food, friendly staff. The desserts are amazing!
Amazing food. Friendly staff. Quaint environment.
The red velvet cupcake was divine and I grabbed a German chocolate for later.
Delicious! It is amazing to have a group dinner and be able to share everyone's food! I tried the croquettes, chickpea fries, wings, tacos, and duck curry--all were wonderful.
I appreciate restaurants that are gluten free more than words could express so I give this place one star for the efforts they take to be gluten free. The food however is horrible! The garlic mashed potatoes had so much garlic we couldn't eat them. The pizza crust was the strangest consistency and although I quickly realized that this is primarily Indian cuisine I was surprised that my pizza tasted so far from traditional pizza. Basically we just spent $70 on lunch that none of the four of us ate.
Excellent food and such a treat to not have to worry about cross contamination!
Their food, all gluten-free, has a multicultural flare with influences ranging from the Caribbean and North Africa to the Middle East and India.
My daughter and I celebrated my birthday there in October. Both of us were quite ill after eating the pizza. I have celiac and she is extremely gluten sensitive. The other meals our party had were fine. Don't know what happened, but we will not return.
my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The fish and chips were scrumptious! definitely worth the price since everything is gluten free and a small business. the owners are great people.
heaven had a street address its here !
100% dedicated gluten free restaurant/bakery/cafe that also is very vegan, dairy-free and soy-free friendly. I sampled their crab cake appetizer and the 12" pesto vegetable pizza (the pesto is dairy-free). Both were absolutely delicious. Prices are good compared to the up-charge in prices often seen with gluten-free fare. Save room for dessert because the bakery has a tempting array of muffins, cookies, and cupcakes that are gluten-free and dairy-free as well as to-go offerings of their sandwich bread and hamburger buns. We enjoyed this food more than we can possibly say. We had three appetizers and shared an entree. Everything is fresh, service was great. I may drive the 3 hours to eat at this restaurant or we will find excuses to drive thru Baltimore.
Fantastic food and bar - Indian, Mexican, Italian and American dishes - all cooked to perfection. Everything on the menu is gluten free and much can easily become dairy free or vegan on request. This is one of my two favorite places to eat on the East Coast - places I'd gladly drive an hour and a half to enjoy. The restaurant and bar is also attached to a marvelous GF bakery of the same name.
Wonderful desserts and pizza. Whole place is gluten free!
I have now been here a record number of times. Love the gluten free dairy free pizza, especially the white pizza and shrimp pizza. The cupcakes are amazing, especially piña colada and German chocolate. A lot of choices and good price (2.85). Recently they updated their menu and the mango BBQ chicken is so good- it's similar to sweet and sour chicken but with a mango sauce. And the latest reason I love this place is that I needed a DFGF cake last minute and they had a cookies and cream cake which tasted SO good and all my family that can eat gluten and dairy couldn't tell the difference and all had seconds. Also pretty much everything on menu is ok for soy allergies, their chocolate has soy lecithin and that's basically it.
Gluten free heaven! Love the soups and cupcakes.
The best sweet plantains I've had (and they've been a family staple my whole life!). Everything they make is great. Their GF snicker doodles are AMAZING
A MUST STOP PLACE FOR GLUTEN FREE! Gluten Free and Dairy Free pizza was incredibly delicious.
Awesome place. Excellent cupcakes, Indian food, and good pizza. All gluten free. If you are looking for something more formal and nice, they also have the Meet 27 restaurant next-door to it, that focuses on their Indian cuisine.
Simply Awesome. Food is great and the cupcakes are fabulous!! If you are near you must stop in
I stopped by on a business trip from Connecticut. Food and Staff were awesome. This is the first place I have ever eaten that besides my house that i have not had to worry about cross contamination.
So far I have only had the Toasted Coconut cupcake, but it was delicious! I can't wait to go and have lunch. It seems like such a nice place.
Great place, everything is gluten free and they label for other food allergies as well. Was exited to find a gluten free dairy free cupcake!
So far the only thing I've liked is their pizza. The cupcakes, muffins, and pies are mediocre.
Don't let the exterior of this place discourage you. The entire place is gluten free, and the breakfast and baked goods are delicious!
Best food every! Best cupcake every and great desserts. I have eating everything on the menu. It is the best
What a wonderful little cafe to indulge your cravings in. It is a treasure.
If you are looking for a good cake, beware! After reading the mostly positve reviews on this bakery, I ordered a cake for a very special event. Tiramisu is one of my favorites, and I figured a bakery would know what the flavor profiles of this dessert are (coffee, ladies fingers, and ricotta cheese). A friend picked up the cake and brought it to DC. Upon opening the box we discovered a pumpkin cake with cream cheese icing. Thinking they had sent the wrong cake, I called and let them know the wrong cake had been picked up. The individual on the phone, apologized telling me that a manger would call me in the morning to refund my money. After several days calling the bakery trying to get in with a manger, I was told that was the cake and too bad if I did not like it. (I still do not think i got the right cake or else they dont know what a tiramisu cake is). I threw away most of the cake which was to serve 24 ( i had a party of 40 people) since it was not a good cake - pumpkin, carrot whatever. As an individual with celiac i have stomached through a lot of bad gluten free products but this was one of the worst cakes i have ever had. I'm never going back, nor will anyone I know! In the end it was a bad cake, with VERY BAD customer service.
Pizza was good, a little crumbly but good. The cupcakes are excellent!! All natural drinks. Very nice and helpful staff.
