I was there today and there were no GF muffins or GF bread. Just the salad and baked potatoes
The food there is clearly labeled GF. They have lots of options, from chili to baked potato—even GF blueberry muffin!
I wish they would post an icon on each sign labeling if a dish is gluten free. I had to look up their site on my phone to know which soups, dressings, etc were safe to eat.
I’m not sure about everything on the menu but they do have really good gluten free rolls. The flavor changes every month so you can always call ahead and see what it is. You can also just purchase a bread bag and can fill it up with whatever you want 😊 my daughter LOVES them.
They say “gluten friendly” rather than “gluten free” because there is a high chance of cross-contamination at this buffet. Salads are the main thing they serve, along with soups and baked goods. Most of the time, they have one gluten free baked good. The coconut muffins and cinnamon muffins are delicious. No gluten free options for pastas. The chili is safe, and they often have one other gluten free soup. Not the best option for celiacs, but still pretty good. I recommend getting food right as it is set out, so it is the least contaminated it can be.
I walked in to check the place out before actually eating since it is a salad buffet and saw a worker move around the gluten “friendly” lemon muffins with tongs from the regular muffins that were right next to it. I left. Clearly the workers are not informed and I would stay away.
all you can eat buffett. however, as a celiac, all i could eat was plain lettuce. and a few other veggies. my family loves the pizza and pasta and cookies and cream lava cake sundae. i was eating a salad with no dressing and a plastic fork and i still got sick.
Great gf options! Soup, rice noodles, salad, and muffins. The staff was very knowledgeable and went out of their way to get food that hadn't had any cross contact (got some of it from the back for me). I'm extremely sensitive celiac. What a reassuring experience!
Love their "gluten friendly" signs on most foods. Salad and most dressings GF. They also have GF muffins in which I never get sick from. I usually eat 5 or 6. Last time it was GF coconut muffins. Ice cream is GF too. Definitely a tolerable place for celiac and those highly sensitive.
Sweet Tomatoes has great food and some gluten free options. However I've been glutened there. It's buffet style and many of their dishes have food residue. Clean dishes are a challenge to find. I would not recommend to a person with celiac.
Absolutely amazing. As a celiac with an egg allergy buffets are seriously scary. The salad ingredients are seperated in a way that cross contamination is very unlikely. All of the labels are clearly presented as gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian. I asked the kitchen manager if there was eggs in the ice cream mix and instead of giving me an answer or an I don't know, he brought the bag of ice cream mix to me to check for myself. I truly appriciate that. I will return again.
I asked about GF menu and the server told me they didn’t have one. I showed her this app and she said “ speak to the cashier” so I did to be told the chili is definitely gf and the the salad bar but not sure about anything else. Very unhelpful staff. We left.
Nice salad bar and staff. They had several gf salads at the salad bar but had placed them next to obviously unsafe salads with gluten so I couldn’t try them due to cross contamination risk. If they can organize that better this place would be a safer option for me and those like me.
This place is a mess between dirty utensils, no GF soup option, even though their website said they’d have and few already prepared GF salads also the dirty floor, bathrooms, tables it’s just ew! The only saving grace was the amazingly soft and delicious GF snickerdoodle buns and coconut buns. No GF pastas and don’t try their piña colada rice pudding it was disgusting. Don’t count on staff knowledge, although they do have clear signs. It’s basically an all you can eat salad dump.
I love this place for a cheaper buffet while Celiac. Since I became pregnant, finding a satisfying, healthy and affordable meal has been difficult elsewhere... but not here. I always leave full and happy with many healthy options! I would recommend taking your time to look at the items that are next to gluten-containing items and avoiding them unless they have been recently changed out by staff. Items next to croutons and the like... don't risk it. I got sick from this place once and guess who's fault it was... MINE. Take responsibility Celiacs and take care of your illness! Don't let a wandering eye make you nervous-- I would also recommend not going there during peak hours like SATURDAYS where things run out often and utentils are not always available so people without your allergy might grab your thongs to pick up their GLUTEN BUNS and put it BACK IN THE GF BIN! Not cool! But I can't blame others for their ignorance, it is gross to use your hands at a buffet! In the case of Sweet Tomatoes, the GF buns are placed next to gluten buns so if there is no utensil, grab a napkin to pick them up, or a clean fork! Since this one occasion, I have not been sick and have had the soups and even other items next to gluten-containing items as long as I take care to notice the 'situation'. Floating croutons? nope. Lol. Crumbs next to my GF option? nope. Pickled items are also a eat at your own risk situation-- I can't eat anything with distilled vinegar in it like ketchup or mustard so I avoid the pickles, jalapenos and such. You dig? Also the drinks may not be labeled but as far as I have experienced the lemonades are fine :D
Clearly labeled and they always have a gf muffin, soups, and plenty of salad toppings and dressings. I have eaten here a couple times now. Recently I had a reaction from the salad. I had found pasta somehow mixed in with my salad toppings... Maybe got dropped into the hard boiled egg toppings? That's my only guess. Didn't see the couple pieces of pasta until half way through my salad. Makes me sad because this place is delicious! Not sure I will chance it again. Wish they had better separation of the bins so food doesn't drop in other food while reaching for items. Like one row rather then double rows.... Or just keep the glutenous items at the end of the line grouped together.
Ronald was awesome! The restaurant was already very good with lots of options but when I asked if they had any of gf chocolate chip muffins that were not in such close proximity to the other bread items he immediately baked a new batch and personal delivered them. They were fantastic!!
What a find....having celiac, it is good to find a place that understands cross-contamination, has knowledgeable staff, well-labeled items...and fresh, warm lemon muffins that even my husband went back for seconds (and he's not celiac!) for. At first, with it being our first time, I took a spoonful of a salad with a non-gf dressing. Ronald, the Service Mgr, checked label and made me a fresh salad... great customer service... it was my error. We will definitely be back.
Very clear labeling for gf, vegetarian, and vegan! It is buffet style, but they are very clean and orderly. Since it is a buffet style place you can build your own meals, but they can't know if another customer has used the thongs on gluten foods. I always pick up things by hand when they do not have their own set of tongs, and choose from the back, depending on the food obviously. They staff are very accomodating if you need anything. So far I haven't had any issue here.
I love Sweet Tomatoes. I have had no issues eating at one all across the country. But this Sweet Tomatoes was the best to date (every salad, soup and bread was labeled Gluten Free, Vegetarian, etc.) And a big added perk, they offered Gluten free muffins. They were so good I hope I can find the recipe one day.
has a very good selection for gluten free items and also has some soups that are gluten free... now if they figured out how to make clam chowder with no gluten I would practically move in .. they need a couple meat items though... like optional chicken breasts or thighs
What a disappointment; they had nothing available that was gluten free, except salad and of course you take a risk eating from an open buffet. I spoke to a server, who didn't know what I was talking about and then the manager who said he might have a microwaveable cup of soup he could offer me. $18 for literally just plain salad for one adult and one kid. I can eat lettuce at home for less than $18. I told the manager I didn't think they should advertise that they are GF, or be on this map and he said they don't, which is ridiculous because I have a coupon in my purse advertising that they have a gluten free selection. sounds like the corporate office decided to jump of the GF bandwagon without providing training to restaurant staff.
Not enough GF items. Salad and usually one soup. On occasion they will have some awesome GF muffins but it's few and far between. I would love to see them expand their selection.
