The food is good and it seems lower risk for cross contamination than some other options, but their prominent disclaimer about not guaranteeing that anything they serve can be free of allergens plus their new automated ordering system that leaves no room for comments or requests is disappointing. It is easy to alter your order in the online system, which is good since many once GF options now have glutinous toppings by default.
Generally I love Sweet Green and they are my go to for a quick GF meal. This location makes delicious salad, but twice I have eaten here and found a crouton or other piece of bread in my salad though I ordered it GF. Delicious, but if you are concerned with cross contamination make sure to either go in and order so you can make sure it’s made right, or try a different location.
Also if you use the app to order it you can put in dietary restrictions and it will note if there is anything you can’t have in their premade bowls. Very helpful.
Menu is listed by what HAS gluten (instead of what is gluten free). I was super excited to try it bc my celiac sister from California goes all the time and has never had an issue. I ordered the autumn harvest salad. I 100% think it was cross-contaminated bc I had reactions a few hours later. My sister was fine. I did not specify with staff that I had allergy. So perhaps that would have helped? Bottom line: try it, be cautious.
