Menu has definitely changed since last year and the experience I had was nothing like the previous comments! To be fair - I am celiac but not highly symptomatic, so if you are very sensitive, I would recommend asking more questions. However, the menu is not marked as GF but our server was knowledgeable about what was and wasn’t GF. He also said chips are in their own fryer and are safe. Tacos can be made on corn tortillas and also with lettuce wraps. I felt safe here! Food was very good and vibes of the entire place were awesome. Would for sure go back

A joke! Went for a friend's bday dinner. Asked for gf menu was told they do not have one but since I'm celiac the only choice was grilled shrimp tacos but no tortilla only on lettuce wrap or I could get a salad- thats it. I went with the shrimp on lettuce combo w/rice and beans. Food arrived cold and flavorless- the shrimp was barely cooked. It was aweful and had it not been for being out with a group for a bday dinner I would had complained. Avoid!!!

I wouldn’t even try to go here if you have celiacs disease. One of the employees who is gluten free said that even though they have corn tortillas, it is not safe from cross contamination and none of the food is safe. They won’t take the necessary precautions or change their gloves. I’m just thankful she communicated that before we ate there because when I called in earlier asking about options they said they could cater to a gluten allergy, but it turns out they couldn’t.

Delicious! I was able to get a vegan and gluten free lunch, no reaction :)

I was told they would clean the grill to make sure of no cross contamination. I ate there last night (it took 35 minutes to get my food and had no reaction) then today, they waitress told me they were short staffed but would make sure to clean the grill again. The food came out in 10 minutes, and my food (and my moms) was cross contaminated. Ruined my vacation

We sat at the bar. I spoke we the hostess before we went in to confirm there was gluten-free and she gave me a menu, she said there wasn’t any at the bar. I had ground-beef tacos (soft-corn tortilla, they had crunchy too).

this has been the best place by folly beach so far to eat GF. they have a gf menu but it isn’t updated, but everyone seems to know what is and isn’t gluten free. our waiter knew everything pretty well and asked questions to the kitchen for us about whatever she didn’t know. we are all pretty sensitive and had no issues. they had a decent number of options as well.

Chips are prepared in a shared fryer which the waiter informed us of. Did provide corn tortillas for salsa appetizer. They do have a gluten free menu with several good options. Tacos can come on corn tortillas or lettuce wraps.

Staff is very knowledgeable about gluten. They do not have a shared fryer. They have a gluten free menu for the stuff that is sautéed separately. Chips are not gluten free, you can ask for separate corn tortillas that aren’t fried for guac. Great tacos, awesome service.
Yes
Great tacos with a dedicated GF menu, though they only have a couple copies. Staff is knowledgeable about gluten. Unfortunately tortilla chips are fried in a shared fryer, but they will give you corn tortillas to use with salsa, guacamole, etc... I skipped that and went with tacos: shrimp, Americano, and Kimchi. All were fabulous with the corn tortillas, but the Kimchi was my favorite because it reminded me of Mu Shu - something I haven’t been able to eat in years. The restaurant also has a cool vibe with good service.
Long line but excellent food. Perfect food for sitting on the beach and great gluten-free options.
Yes
Have a gf menu and other allergens menu. They do cook chips in same oil as other fried food. Have tacos wrapped in corn or lettuce.
Their gluten free menu isn’t truly gluten free. They fry the chips with gluten containing things. Also I ordered gluten free tacos but got sick afterwards anyway. Not good for Celiacs
No
The waitress was very sweet however they had to reprint the GF menu. I am also allergic to cilantro and had to find that menu. It took an extra 8 mins to get menus. Once I found what I can order (2 options) I was told the street corn is GF but fried in same fryer. I got grilled chicken tacos on corn tortillas. We waited 30 mins for food and when food came out my tacos were on flour tortillas. The waitress was very upset with the staff and immediately asked for more made fresh. It was then another 15 before food came out. It was good. Nothing I would crave or come back for though. The waitress was the only good thing at Taco Boy for me.
Excellent food and very knowledgeable staff. Their corn chips are fried in the same fryer as other items, but they brought regular corn tortillas for the salsa and guacamole. Highly recommend the tacos Americano.
Yes
had a list of items that were considered gluten free. good was mediocre but good to eat out at a packed place and no problems
We had tacos on a corn tortilla and a rice bowl. Both delicious but a bit spicy for us. I didn't ask if the chips were made in a dedicated dryer but did ask if the Cowboy beans were GF and waiter double checked in kitchen for me and confirmed they were. The guacamole is the best I've ever had!
The server was very knowledgeable about celiac and the food was really good! The chips were not GF but the corn tortillas were. They did not have a dedicated fryer but if you ask they will give you some tortillas instead of chips
The food was okay. I didn't get sick thankfully, but I won't be coming back.
I'm not a big fan of taco joints that don't give you chips with your meal.
we sat out on the back patio, so the atmosphere was pretty good. However, every time the back door opened I got big smell of fish. Not the most pleasant smell in the world.
I have to correct the earlier review: it is very much NOT TRUE that all Taco Boy's tacos are served on wheat tortillas. I ate there last week and you can choose b/t corn and wheat tortillas, or a Bibb lettuce wrap for your taco. Maybe if you don't specify, they use wheat, but there ARE other options. Clearly listed on the menu, too. It IS a shame that they don't have a dedicated fryer, though. The chips look yummy.
they do not have a separate fryer and all their tacos are served on flour tortillas
Waiter took time to check seasonings before we even asked!!!
