I’m celiac and Super sensitive. I asked if they had a separate fryer for the nachos. Was told yes and that a lot of gluten free folks eat there. I settled on something simple ordered the three Americana tacos and chips with salsa. It’s been 4 hours and I did not get sick!!!! Food was good and I washed it all down with a margarita on the Rocks!!! Nice to be able to eat out with my family and not get sick! I’ll definitely go back!
Plenty of a GF items marked on menu. I had the nachos and tacos Al pastor with no problems.
I ate here before and had the corn tortilla tacos with carne asada and I don’t remember having any issues. I ate here Friday night (nachos with carne asada)and when I got up Saturday I knew I had been glutened. I’m highly symptomatic celiac and I always explain myself to the server, honestly she could’ve slowed down and listened to me better and that should’ve been a red flag but their gf menu is so large I figured she just knew what she was doing. I’m disappointed and won’t be returning again.
Food was very good. Great music and live band! It was a very good place to eat if you have celiac like me. Items were marked gf and just ask to make sure that there is no cross contamination. I felt perfectly fine after and enjoyed my time there. Will be back! Dan was our server ask for him! Make sure if you get the tacos they are in corn tortillas! Great time.
GF options were clearly marked. There weren’t a ton but there was enough. The tacos were delicious.
Items are clearly marked on the menu. Had the queso blanco as an appetizer and the mexican steet bowl for my meal. The food was delicious!! The atmosphere was cool too (though may be loud for some when there is live music playing).
Tacos were yummy. Corn shell available for all tacos. Waiter said all were good except for anything with birria (which had flour as a thickening agent). Waiter was very knowledgeable. Great vibe! No reactions 😊
I ate here without getting sick, despite having celiac disease, but the situation was confusing and a bit anxiety-inducing. The hostess handed me a separate GF menu that turned out to be highly inaccurate. It said, for instance, that all their meats are GF, but then the waitress told me that all the meats except chicken are cooked on the same grill as everything else, so NOT safe for celiacs. Also, the GF menu said that several items, such as Tacos Al Pastor, for instance, are gluten-free “as is” meaning that no modifications are necessary. But I had to order my Tacos Al Pastor with chicken instead of pork because, as I said, chicken is the only meat cooked on a safe surface. The bottom line is that celiacs can eat here, but they will need to carefully negotiate their meal with waitstaff and can NOT trust the “Gluten-free” menu.
In spite of the good reviews of this place, I had an awful experience. After informing the waitress of my CD, she pointed out things on the menu that were safe and to order corn tortillas. I ordered a pulled chicken American taco and the Brussel sprout taco. I specified allergy and corn tortilla. The tacos came out, and I could tell right away one was corn and the other was flour. I had the waitress visually confirm that both were corn. But indeed, one was a flour tortilla and I only confirmed it after I had taken two bites. The waitress didn’t seem to care after I informed her of the error, and I was not able to keep eating them. She asked if I wanted another taco, but I did not. I spent the rest of my evening on the toilet and vomiting. I don’t believe they take allergies as serious as maybe a food preference or diet. So for reactive celiacs, I would steer clear of this place because it doesn’t seem that the kitchen or wait staff is diligent enough to make sure they give you corn tortillas.
We have two sons with Celiac, we said something to the waitress and she immediately knew what it was and how to protect them. She told us there is a dedicated fryer for the chips, wings, and anything else they might want fried. Corn tortillas available for all tacos. The food is excellent and both boys came away saying they can’t wait to go back.
chips are made in a separate fryer, so def get chips and guac! i got a chicken tinga bowl with mexican rice & it was very tasty. i felt safe eating here and the drinks were very good too. highly recommend
Went based on other reviews. The server brought over a manager to explain what was gf and advised that they can’t fully prevent cross contamination. That being said, he stated that the chips and wings are done in a separate fryer. The chips we had were stale, so didn’t seem to have been prepared fresh. I had the Mahi fish tacos on corn tortillas which were tasty. It was just ok, so not sure we will be back on our next visit to cape may as there are many other gf places to try.
Nachos were delicious with ground beef.
Had a pork burrito bowl and was also very good.
They have an allergen guideline online.
My only complaint was the up charge for the gluten free when they are naturally gluten free anyhow.
They offer a gf “cheat sheet” online so that you can see the gf options before you go. I had the nacho chips with guacamole…yummy. I also had a taco salad that I enjoyed. Someone affiliated with the restaurant came by our table to ask about our experience, and he was very interested in learning more about celiac and being gluten free. He said that there is a separate fryer for the chips and wings; also to talk with your server about your gf needs so that 1.) the kitchen knows and 2.) you can combine gf things on their menu to make your meal. I did not get sick, and I’ll be returning!
I ordered some tacos and chips and guacamole for takeout — really enjoyed the food and felt good afterwards!
Their website has an allergen section that marks appetizers and tacos as GF. Queso and chips are gluten free. They were just okay. I got a burrito bowl with chicken and everything in it was gluten free. I wish I had tried the nachos after reading these reviews. I heard that the brisket taco has fried onions on it so it's not GF, just a head's up!
This was a really great experience. The servers were knowledgeable, and most of the menu could be done gluten free. The only thing I was told to avoid was the fryer, but there were only a few items that applied to. Good drink options as well. Plus good live music.
This place was amazing. Our food server was very knowledgeable and was able to substitute gluten items for a gluten free one in the sampler . Drinks were delicious and the live music was great.
You can get just about anything on the menu here which is a super nice change from normal GF eating out! The tacos are all on fresh corn tortillas, I had both the chicken tinga and beef birria along with Mexican street corn- all delicious and the wait staff was also knowledgeable and careful. Second time eating here with no issues, will def return!
The chips are made in a dedicated fryer and we had some really delicious nachos with them! You can also have most of the tacos on corn tortillas or in bowl form. Food was fresh and delicious and there was live music the night we went. I would definitely eat here again!
I ordered the Mexican bow with chicken, the staff were all knowledgeable about the gf options and the food was delicious.
Tostitos are GF and cooked in a separate fryer. The salsa and guacamole were delicious. Can order any of the tacos with soft corn tortillas. Very good and would go back!
I visited Cape May with my family, and overall I have been surprised with how few GF options there are. This place was by far one of the best we tried. The waitress and the staff were knowledgeable, and when I questioned if the nachos (marked GF on the allergy menu) were cooked in a separate fryer, the waitress went to double check. Guess what, they were! I have not had restaurant nachos in years! I am very sensitive and had no reaction. Very impressed.
