I have celiac disease and never thought I could ever have normal chicken tenders ever again but I stand corrected! Dedicated fryer for being gluten free. The server said there were only 2 menu items that they can’t do gluten free which is so impressive. I got takeout but even still the service was great and the people were so friendly. Would highly recommend!!
This was our first time eating at Tavern in the Square. We chose this restaurant for their Gluten-Free selections. We made a reservation and were seated prior to our reservation time. The waiter arrived and introduced himself as Casey. Drink orders were taken in a timely manner. The local beer selection is excellent. It was very difficult to choose what to order for food as the menu has so many great selections. There were many gluten-free options available as well as Vegetarian and they were well marked. The waiter was unfamiliar with some of the questions we asked about allergies, but promptly retriebed the information. He had a very good attitude and eagerness to ensure our experience was pleasant. I rated the value as good for this type of establishment due to comparable places being less. However, the portions were generous. The food arrived (large portions) and was delicious. We had the General Tso Chicken (Gluten-Free & Spicy but not too much spice), the Fried Chicken Cobb Bowl (a wonderful cobb salad with very tender fried chicken strips), and the Bayou Chicken Pasta (with Blackened Chicken). The most positive thing about the experience is that my wife didn't get sick as she is very allergic to gluten. Thank You.
Great menu with lots of gluten free options. The staff was very knowledgeable and they had a craft gluten free beer that was excellent. We had ordered fried pickles that were gluten free. They arrived and I realized I hadn’t mentioned i needed them gluten free. The server took the order with him to the kitchen and returned confirming they were gluten free. The meal was excellent and I felt safe with the food.
This used to be my go-to place but not anymore. I ordered to-go and was very clear about my order being gluten free. I got home with my meal and they gave me a regular bun for my burger. I called up, explained I have celiac disease and then explained the problem. The person on the phone asked me if I was sure- to which I replied that there is a distinct visual difference in GF and regular buns. I asked to speak to a manager who asked me to describe the bun and he confirmed that it contained gluten. He was very apologetic and did refund my meal, but I told him that I now no longer feel safe eating there.
being so close to my work, my colleague friends and i choose this location for after work drinks and meet ups! never gotten sick from this location, even when ordering in larger groups. i flag down the server in the beginning and communicate well with them. it may help that most of the orders at my table are the same (tenders and fries). also, we usually rotate which flavor of margarita tower to share at each visit!
