Not the most enjoyable experience, the wait staff is not well trained on allergy issues. Our waitress tried very hard but kept running back and forth to check with the kitchen. The kitchen sent her many times with incorrect info and then back and forth. If you have true allergies I wouldn’t make this a first choice.

I've eaten here several times and never had any kind of reaction. They have great pasta and some bread for an appetizer, so yummy!

I just called ahead to see what accommodations can be made, and the employee on the phone said "It is not advisable that you come here." The risk of cross contamination is too high, he said. So I would not recommend this as a safe option.

A bit fru-fru. Kind of loud. I really enjoyed my pasta bolognese. My sister's carbonara was pretty salty though. She didn't get sick but the menu wasn't really anything to write home about. And we're not super fond of smart flour pizza crusts, which is what they have, so we can't speak to the pizza.

Update: we stopped in for dinner and I asked my usual cc questions. In the past, the servers had always stated that gf pasta was boiled separately. Well tonight, the answer was completely the opposite. Our server, stating he had been there for several years, said that it was made together and not possible to be made separately. We got up and left. Regardless of whether the previous servers were just ignorant or willfully misled me to make a buck, we will not be going back.

I love this place!! I have never gotten sick and I have a pretty severe allergy. They are awesome! I tell every restaurant I go to that I have a severe allergy to gluten and double check with cross contamination... So keep that in mind, I guess. But it's one of my favorite places to eat!

NOT A GF place to eat! They cook GF pasta in the same water as wheat pasta, cc is a huge issue w/ pizzas, & they kept pointing to the menu where it says"we're not a dedicated GF facility" This place really needs to be removed from the app. Awesome place to eat if you want to get "glutened". No good!

Manager and server were very knowledgeable and reassuring. I had the black truffle oil risotto and it was delicious. This was our second time here after a great experience durning our visit last year.

The server was very knowledgeable about their gluten free options and happy to accommodate. The pizza was very good although the crust was not a crunchy as I had hoped, the pasta was good but not anything better than we make at home. However, it was very expensive, they charged an extra $3 for the gf pasta as well as an extra $4 for gf pizza crust. Would definitely eat there again just not very often.

The GF PIZZA could have been hung on a wall as a dart board. The toppings were cold. Good pasta for the gluten eaters. Do not recommend!

Let me start out by saying Taverna is expensive. But, we knew that going in. I have a gluten allergy and I heard thru the grapevine that Taverna offered a lot of GF options and Italian is my favorite food so we wanted to give it a try. We split the house salad and had the GF focaccia bread to start. The salad was amazing. The bread was $9 with the GF up-charge which is ridiculous but it tasted pretty good! I was glad we tried it but we wouldn't get it again because of the price. I had a glass of Pinot and it was $10. It was really good. For the main dish I had the bolognese with gluten pasta--it was amazing! But again, $2 extra for GF noodles. It sucks having an allergy because everything is extra and it's not like I want to have this problem lol. Anyway it was a good sized portion and tasted amazing. My husband tried it and loved it. He had the carbonara with regular noodles and loved his too. The total with tip was almost $100....so yeah really pricey for what you get but really good GF Italian food for me. Best part, I didn't get sick at all after eating anything and service was on point!

Ate here last night for the first time. The menu is extensive. The server steered me clear of the pizza since I have celiac but recommended several other options and double checked with the kitchen twice. I always appreciate that kind of awareness. I had the risotto, which was wonderful!

They have a dedicated GF menu, but my server was clueless. I tried to have a conversation with him about what I would be safe to choose from the menu (I'm also allergic to dairy) and he pretty much ignored me. He brought out my salad and I found a crouton in it about halfway through. Even the main dish that I ordered came out different than it was described on the menu (Frito misto breaded in garbanzo flour -- just came out steamed (?) with vegetables). If you brave this place, ask for a manager.

This place was perfect while we were in the area and didn't know where else to go. Their gf menu was very easy to navigate, and made my options very easy to chose from. (It's always nice when there is a totally separate menu) The risotto with shrimp and pesto was wonderful, and the portion was very generous. There was a bite of shrimp for ever bite of risotto, and that's not usually the case with most higher end restaurants. Our waiter was very easy going, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. And although I opted for a glass of vino, they had Omission beer on the menu. Thumbs up. Would definitely come back again at dinner and give their gf pasta dishes a try.

im giving benefit of doubt that inside the restaurant is s MUCH better atmodphere. we chose to eat on patio because the weather is beautiful, but the stench of sewage (or whatever it is) is disgusting. The food is ok, but way too pricey. IDK who gave this $$, but to me $17 for spaghetti is $$$.

They have an extensive gluten free menu but they tried to charge me a different price than was on the gluten free menu & then they said it was because its a $2 up-charge from the menu - deceptive! And the service was horrible!

I went to Taverna pretty excited to be able to get a decent-size gluten-free italian menu and wasn't disappointed. I'm celiac but don't get sick, so I can't speak to cross contamination, but the waiter was knowledgeable enough to help me out with questions. He also waived the two dollar upcharge for the bread (which still isn't listed on the gluten free menu, so in some ways it was the right thing to do). The food tasted delicious, and I'd definitely go back next time I'm in Ausin. Food-wise, rich, tasty, and delicious. The gluten free foccacia seems to be a commonly found gluten free pizza crust that they've customized, but it's very good still and has their own touch to it.

Went here for lunch yesterday while visiting Austin. They had special bread which was delicious and I ordered a pizza which was also very good (although later that afternoon I didnt feel well so I wonder about contamination - I didnt mark down for this as I'm not 100% it was them but I thought I would note that for future diners). The problem lies in their menu. They have a dedicated GF lunch menu which they clearly need to have re printed. The manager came over to "point a few things out" on the menu before I ordered. Those things were even though the prices were clearly listed on the menu they charge an "upcharge" of $2 more than what the menu says for GF items such as pizza and pasta. I was also tomd that although they have 5 different pasta dishes listed each listing a different noodle, they dont really have those noodles… so your feticcini alfredo would actually be served on their 1 GF pasta option which is a penne. Reprint your menus so they are accurate! Why have a different menu if everything on it is wrong?? I still gave 4 stars because my meal was tasty, as was hubby's non GF pizza.

Taverna has an excellent gluten free menu! They have gluten free focaccia which is excellent, multiple pastas and pizza and entrees. The wait staff was very knowledgable as well! They have gluten free desserts listed!
