They say their hotdogs are gluten free, but they do not have dedicated equipment and cook gluten on the same thing that they put the hotdogs on!! Big time cross contamination!
Nothing like a char grilled hot dog with chili on a gf bun. Wish they had some gf sides though.
They do offer gf buns, but no sides available to eat.
Love the buns! Haven't had a hotdog in a bun in years. Enjoyed every bite! Thanks. Any chance of GF onion rings?
So nice to see a great locally owned establishment making accommodations for their GF customers offering Udi's buns. Hot dogs are chargrilled & tasty! Chili is gluten free, too; however they do not have a dedicated fryer for their French fries :( FYI: Make sure to remind them to change gloves before handling your individually wrapped bun.
4/13/17 Tried a cheeseburger on a gluten free bun and it was great. I watched the bun come out of a plastic wrapper and the employee change gloves before handling my burger. GF bun was soft and very good. French fries are not gluten free. 4/16/16 I've always loved Ted's hot dogs, but this was my first one since going gluten free. The gf bun was not very good. Taste of it was ok but texture was not soft like a normal bun. Maybe it was stale.
Packaged gf bun, which I appreciated. But when the girl took it out, she hadn't changed her gloves or taken any precaution about where she was placing it. Definite cross contamination possible if you don't explicitly tell them how to handle. I'm sensitive, not celiac, so I didn't end up with any terrible issues.
Delicious hot dogs! The buns are from Kinnikinick I think. They almost always remember to change gloves when you ask for gluten free, on occasion you have to remind them. A char-broiled hot dog is a fabulous thing. I tried to order fries once, and they promptly told me they're fried in the same fryer as breaded stuff.
Ted's is in no way Celiac safe. However, There are precautions that can be taken. Ask them to change their gloves. Do not get any condiments from behind the counter, since they dip the spoon in a vat and spread it on the burger/dog, often times directly onto the bread, and the spoon goes right back into the vat. There are some condiments on the side. Since I like ketchup only on my hotdogs, I used the pump ketchup near the seating area. Since I just ate, I will update this, if there are any reactions.
I have been there a couple times in the last few months and haven't had an issue yet! The rolls are all individually wrapped and they put them in the microwave instead of the grill. I always keep an eye on the grill person though since they have different staff there so often.
