Unfortunately — because the paella is delicious — I have to report this place is not celiac safe, they poisoned me two out of three times. First time I ordered GF paella on app and called ahead about celiac status, was totally fine. Second time I was cavalier and ordered GF paella on app without calling ahead; got quite sick. Third time I ordered in restaurant and explained celiac status; they brought out my order with actual breadsticks on the side. Yikes. Really too bad because as I mentioned, the paella is delicious.
I can’t recommend this place enough. Every time we go, our wait staff are attentive and knowledgeable and the food is amazing. It’s pricey, so we can’t go often, but it’s such a wonderful treat when we do! If you’re a fan of raw fish, the ahi tuna tacos (with the GF corn shells) are to die for. Great place for a date!
Unsafe for celiacs. We were disappointed with the experience here. We received a dish with regular bread, although we were very clear that we are very sensitive celiacs. When we were suspicious and asked, they were barely sorry and removed the dish from our bill. They didn’t seem to take it seriously and we felt unsafe.
Loved how safe this made me feel. I have celiac and am fairly (though not extremely) sensitive and felt fine after eating here. Most things are GF and staff seems to understand. The food was very good; well made high quality and thoughtfully prepared. Nice fun menu. Staff was good.
A bit overpriced - but you’re in Palo Alto at a full service non chain restaurant so probably within the range of what you might expect. I enjoyed this meal and definitely plan to be back.
All of the Paella's are gluten free and most of the Tapas are marked as GFA (gluten free available). Been here a few times and the staff is very knowledgeable and aware of how careful they need to be. The fryer is not gluten free but they adapt to utilize other techniques to make those dishes tasty! For tapas I have had the pan con tomate, quesos board, pulpo teleferic, and gambas al ajillo (comes with GF bread).
I have had the crab paella, paella negra, paella mixta, and paella lobster (all delicious and highly recommend).
Gambas con ajillo served with GF bread, and delicious although overpriced paella
Been here a bunch of times and have never gotten sick. Gluten free things are labeled.
I recommend:
Appetizers
-Pulpo Teleferic (octopus cooked to the PERFECT texture)
- Salmon Tartar (warning, pretty salty!)
Platos:
-La Porca (DELICIOUS pork belly)
Greens:
-Corn Kale Salad
Paella:
-Lobster Paella
They have a few yummy drinks as well! Just remember to tel the kitchen the order is for a gluten allergy.
Great!! The majority of menu is gf. They get gluten and cross contamination AND the food is superb
I was so impressed by the care the restaurant took to ensure the food I had was gluten free. I came with a group who was having a set menu and when making the reservation we let them know that I have Celiac disease. They prepared a special gluten-free menu just for me, and I was very grateful for everything they did to ensure I could enjoy my meal safely. The food was delicious too!
