The beef rib & brisket.. expensive but truly the best BBQ ever
Their sides are identified for gluten free or not, but bc of cross contamination risk I didn’t get any. It’s pretty stressful inside sometimes so I just order lots of meat to be safe :)

Meat was delicious. Due to other allergies I only had pickles for side. Sides are clearly marked. My husband who can have gluten had the mac and cheese and said it was great.

I would honestly not recommend coming here if you have celiac or a wheat allergy. The risk of cross contamination is far too high.
Despite many of the sides being marked GF, the people scooping sides had mac & cheese all over their gloves, switching around utensils, sides getting spilled into one another. Didn’t feel safe whatsoever eating any of the sides given all the cross contamination I could see at the station.
From there you move on from the side station to the main meat station. The person carving the meat was grabbing buns, then grabbing the next slab of meat to cut, knives, etc. I asked her if she could please change her gloves bc I had a serious wheat allergy, and she gave me attitude insisting the meats were gluten free. After some pushing, she did change her gloves, but not without making a few remarks about the inconvenience (to be fair, it was super busy).
I had already seen her touch buns & the meats, so even with the glove change I felt unsafe. Being pregnant and absolutely starving, I still ate the brisket, but cut out pieces from the middle as she had touched the outsides. All of the stations were the same - grabbing buns, grabbing meat, knives etc. I wouldn’t be surprised if everything had some form of gluten on it.
Honestly - the brisket was fire and I didn’t get sick. But this was one of the most anxiety inducing food experiences I’ve ever had. If you have a serious reaction, I’d steer clear or come maybe right as it opens so you have a better shot at not being cross contaminated. Or do as I did and just eat the middle of the meats where their hands wouldn’t touch.

Best BBQ ever!! All meats and sauces are GF and have never trigger us. The sides are not all DF so be vigilant but no GF reaction. Three of us are strict GF. Don’t miss this place!

Out of the three BBQ places we ended up going to in Austin, TX (Salt Lick, and Stubb’s were the other two) this was the ABSOLUTE BEST! I had no allergic reactions. Plenty of of gluten free and dairy free options. The BBQ was extremely tasty and didn’t even need sauce (although the sauce on the side was good). All of the sides were ordered were fantastic. My friends shared a family style platter and it was amazing. The brisket, sausage and beef ribs were to die for. The rice, jalapeño, coleslaw and green beans were divine! Oh, and the blacks margaritas blackberry flavor was incredible! Highly recommended!

The meats on the menu are all labeled gluten-free. Decent selection. The sides are stored on the same counter so I’d be a little worried about cross-contamination. But the meats are always a safe bet—in my case, at least.

All sides are labeled (GF/DF/etc.), and all meats are naturally GF. I feel mostly confident in their cross contamination prevention but cannot guarantee it as I have not walked myself into the kitchen. Food is delicious

Another big yes for Terry Black’s. I’ll mention that there is gluten near some of the gluten free foods (but not near the meats, hallelujah!). Depending on your sensitivity,, you may want to ask them to get your food from the back, and to change gloves. It was delicious, and I felt great afterward except for having eaten so much!

I was told not to eat here by the staff! Gluten Cross contamination is everywhere as they don’t change gloves and it’s overall a very high risk as they have cafeteria style ordering and (very disappointing)

Great tasting food! Meat and sauces are delicious and safe. I had a mild cross contamination reaction to the onions, which is weird, but not enough to ruin my food. Definitely approach the sides carefully. If you’re celiac I’d ask for a closed serving from the back. Great stuff!

Pretty tasty barbecue. I didn’t get any side dishes because of the obvious cross contamination risk. Meat and sauce are all gluten free, sausage is the only one contains dairy so overall it’s pretty good for dairy intolerance!

Very high chance of cross contamination as everything is severed cafeteria style and the severs were grabbing some gluten and gluten free food items with their gloved hands. When I got up to the sides station, I told them I had a gluten allergy and they didn’t understand. They insisted I try the mac n cheese, which is marked vegetarian on their menu, not gluten free. Fortunately, after going back and forth another server came over and told the worker that it wasn’t safe for me. She assisted with the rest of the encounter at the sides station. I only grabbed sides that a serving spoon would be needed to grab. The meat is cut at a completely separate station and all meats and sauces are gluten. It’s been about 30 minutes since I’ve finished eating and so far, I feel fine. Eat at your own risk.

The food is good. But it’s up to personal discretion to eat here due to a high chance of cross contamination. I was nervous to eat here because the food is served cafeteria style and all gluten free stuff is right next to non-gluten free items. Luckily, I had no reaction eating here and the food was good.

All of the meats and sauces are gf. Most of the sides are gf as well but they are served “cafeteria style” next to some non-gf sides so your personal level of comfort with that may vary. Everything gf is marked on the menu, which is displayed on the walls. Everything was very delicious!

All the meats are GF and cut at a separ station. Most of the sides are GF, but are served on a line that has non-GF deserts. (Dang, that cobbler looked good though) Sauces and rubs are GF. Fabulous BBQ!

The best gluten-free, dairy-free friendly barbecue. I am extremely sensitive to gluten and dairy.
There is potential for cross contamination in the sides and the meats.
We skipped the sides and told the person cutting the meat of our sensitivity. He was so nice!! New knife, new cutting board, fresh cuts of meats. So far beyond what we expected. Can’t thank them enough!!

As other reviews have stated, the side station seems to have potential for cross contamination, though most of the sides are gluten free. I felt comfortable having the potato salad and beans. The meats and sauces are all gluten free and are prepared at a separate station. I had no reaction here and the BBQ is GOOD!!

Amazing BBQ!! The items are marked GF on the menu and the staff is knowledgable, however it is kind of a cafeteria style line to get sides and all GF and gluten sides are served in the same spot. I would say it’s a bit of a risk, but I am pretty sensitive and I was completely safe eating here. The meats (almost all) and sauces are GF. The sides that are GF are marked. The place was packed when I was there so there wasn’t a whole lot of time for questions, but I requested the GF sides on a separate tray than gluten sides and indicated I have an “allergy” (I know celiac is not but sometimes saying allergy is the only way people understand). The barbecue was some of the best I’ve ever had and I had 0 reaction. I loved this place a lot and cannot wait to return

After reading the reviews I was very cautious but the staff were very helpful and were able to confirm that their meats and sauces are all 100% gluten free. There were posts about the Worcestershire sauce, but they were able to confirm it is a gf Worcestershire. The cafeteria serving style for the sides made me a little nervous about cross contamination, but so far no reaction! Long wait during the lunch rush but well worth it!
Yes
Just went here last night 10/26/19
This place is beyond amazing! After reading some reviews here I made sure to ask about the sausage. They changed their recipe so the sausage no longer contains gluten. All their meets are gluten free and their sauces as well! I think the only things that weren’t gluten free, were the Mac and cheese and the corn bread. Other than that, everything I ate was safe and I had no adverse reactions! I have celiac disease so I have to ask the grilling questions and they were more than accommodating and happy to answer them for me. Their brisket is hands down the best thing I have ever had - my boyfriend agrees! And their coleslaw... omg! Amazing! We also got the shredded beef and that was so amazingly good as well! I’m tempted to go back for more today before we leave back to Seattle tonight 😆
Yes
Only 4 options of SIDES ONLY!!!! Not a Single MEAT OPTION is GF!!!!!!
No
The food is delcious and it is great that they say what sides are gluten free and what isn’t. But this place shouldn’t be trusted. A lot of people think that the W sauce they spray on the meat is the problem, and it might be. But the way they serve the meat is ripe for cross contamination. Common cutting board, common cutting knife. It’s hard to tell what the issue is honestly, but do not go here if you have are a sensitive celiac like myself. I’m currently dealing with all sorts of issues right now after eating here. All I had was the beef ribs and rice to keep it simple - but I got glutened bad. The counter clerk told me all the meat was GF which I know wasn’t true since their sausage isn’t GF. Figured I’d be safe with my choice based on reviews and general intuition but I was wrong. Proceed with caution at this place.

I hate to be one of the dissenting voices in saying this place is not celiac friendly, but I'm quite sure that I got glutened here. When I got up to the counter and asked to confirm that the meats were free (as they are all listed as being gluten-free on the menu), the server told me that most of them were sprayed with Worcestershire sauce which contains gluten. I wound up getting the pork ribs and turkey which she said were the only ones that were not. Even then I still wound up feeling sick after ( so that maybe because I made the stupid choice to try a bite of the other meat that my friend got, in the hopes that the person at the counter was misinformed and they were gluten-free as stated on the menu). Really tasty but I don't feel safe returning.

All meats were gf. All sides are marked to know what is gf. Delicious. Brisket was wonderful !
Yes
Extremely great brisket. Most things GF.
The food was great but the restaurant has cockroaches. Not the most sanitary and safe place to eat.
No
most sides are gf and all the meat except sausage. I told them about cross contamination and they brought out a new brisket, a new knife and a new cutting board to avoid cross contamination with the sausage. They were so accommodating and understanding. The creamed corn was incredible! I will be back next time I’m in Austin for work! The most important thing is that I didn’t sick!
Yes
Tried the pork ribs and brisket. Tender and very tasty. Peppery rub is awesome. Green beans were great, pinto beans okay. The sauce lists distilled vinegar, which I usually avoid because no way to know if wheat or corn, but I tried it and had no reaction. The Original and sweet tangy were both addictive.
The only thing with gluten is the mac n cheese and the bags of bread. Everything is safe!!! And oh so delicious!!!!
Yes
Amazing. Many sides and meat options. Don't eat the sausage. He sauce is gfree. They are really helpful, it's delicious and I highly recommend.

Excellent BBQ. I asked about sausage & was advised it had gluten. Sauce is GF.
Yes
Love a place where they don't even have to think about what's gf when asked! Sides - green beans, beans, even creamed corn was safe. Meat was all safe with the exception of the sausage. Bbq sauces were for sale - I checked the ingredient list on the original and the tangy, both were safe. And EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. Seriously best beans I might have ever had.
Called to get glutenfree Info. She told me the side options , several! Bbq is smoked and uses Worcestershire which is glutenfree. Yay She was very short on the phone! Not the best atmosphere but great bbq!
One of the owners was very kind to show me and discuss all ingredients for each dish. There were many gluten free options. Unfortunately I have allergies also to soy and cow's milk. The only side I could eat was brown beans, but that was fine because I was going to get to eat BBQ. The service is cafeteria-style and after getting my side + a bag of Ftritos I arrived at the cashier and meat order center only to find gross cross contamination. All meats are placed on a wooden chop block and the same knife and serving blade was used on all meats, even the ones which have gluten in them. I ate beans and Fritos and iced tea for lunch.
No
Very tasty with plenty of gluten free options.
