Gluten Sensitive

Overall Rating

Review

This is one of my go-to local favorites. Delicious food & lots of options. I can eat almost everything on the menu, with modifications. The curries, pad woon sen, spicy basil, spicy eggplant, and tom kha gai soup are some of my favorites and are all gluten free dishes. The drunken noodles and many other dishes can be made gluten free with modifications. Just make sure to tell the server so they can add a note for the cooks. I have non-celiac gluten sensitivity and have been eating here since they opened. There is no separate menu, but the staff is very knowledgeable. You will want to avoid anything deep fried (if you order tofu, make sure to ask for steamed tofu so they don't deep fry it in shared oil). The sushi bar is also very accommodating if you ask for GF and does usually have tamari/GF soy sauce on hand (although I no longer eat soy). Unfortunately I don't think the pho here is safe, I believe they add hoisin or something to the broth.

Symptomatic Celiac

Overall Rating

Review

In my experience, the staff at Thai Time have been pretty knowledgeable about gluten and the food is really really good. However, it seems the staff aren't as knowledgeable about other things. I asked multiple times whether certain dishes were vegetarian and was told they were, but I then found out that just about all dishes/sauces contain chicken broth or other meat products and people had to speak directly to the owner to get this info. Even though I didn't get sick the few times I went there, it's not a good sign that the staff can't give accurate info about what's in their food. I may have just gotten lucky. Try Mai Thai instead!

I have no idea how this made it on the list. I ordered what I thought would be safe choices based on the reviews here and got super sick. Good food but like 1 star cause not celiac friendly. Turns out, maybe, celiacs shouldn't take the gluten free advice of people who don't have celiac disease. Gluten "friendly" maybe 🙃
