Minimal wait for a dog-friendly patio table for dinner on Saturday night! Delicious food for our party of four with a variety of tastes. Confirmed that French fries are 100% gf and allergy safe. Also had a really tasty quinoa burger and salad! No reaction, and I’m very sensitive to cross contamination. The view at sunset was also stunning!
Overall we had a positive experience and did not get sick (celiac) but I found the communication lacking. There is no GF menu, and while they have a gf fryer, they will not call it GF. They say it’s only for French fries..and is therefore “gluten friendly.” I’d have felt better if they could have spoken more in celiac/allergy terms and confirmed it is a GF fryer, but multiple servers didn’t use that language which I thought was odd. Luckily the meal was safe. I would go back, but make the celiac needs explicit.
Had lunch here with friends and although their menu does not have gluten free marked they had a lot of options. The waiter was pleasant and helpful pointing out what was gluten free and also specifying what was celiac safe. It was great being able to enjoy the happy our menu as the bucket of fries are celiac safe! I had the Seared Shrimp & Scallops which comes with lobster fried rice, best rice I’ve ever had! Highly recommend!
Most items on the menu can be made GF or are already GF. Got the shrimp tacos and they were incredible! All ingredients in the shrimp tacos are GF. Also got French fries (dedicated fryer) and they were the best French fries I’ve had in a while! I definitely recommend! Plus there is a great view of the water from the restaurant
While there is no separate GF menu the staff was knowledgeable and willing to check with chef. They have a dedicated fryer for the french fries but the rest of the fried items are not safe. I got a burger on udis bun with fries and the brownie sundae all was good and did not get sick. Not a huge selection for GF but better than the average place.
Gorgeous restaurant with great GF options. The separate fryer is NOT guaranteed against cross contamination.
The atmosphere and view from the outdoor seating at The Boathouse really can’t be beat in Kennebunkport… which is why there’s always a wait to get in. And although the menu doesn’t list anything specifically as GF (except a GF brownie sundae dessert), they have a printout with all the options that are gluten-free or can be made gluten-free (as well as dairy-free options too). They have a separate fryer for fries, and offer GF buns, so I almost went for the lobster roll with fries (all GF)… but after a couple lobster rolls elsewhere earlier in the week, I opted for the Seared Shrimp & Scallops with Lobster Fried Rice and it was delicious with a kind of sweet & spicy glaze. Rest of my non-celiac family also enjoyed their lunch as well.
Excellent food and service! Almost everything on the menu can be made gluten free and servers knew exactly what modifications were possible. Went twice on a recent trip because I felt so safe there! Had a lobster roll and fries the first time and the lobster fried rice with a salad the second. All good options!
The outdoor seating on the deck was fantastic. Our server was very knowledgeable and able to answer my questions regarding the menu. The menu is not marked gluten free but server was able to tell me exactly what was and wasn’t GF.
I ordered the scallops and shrimp with lobster fried rice and my husband and I split the lobster spring roll and wings.
The lobster spring roll was very fresh and flavorful. There was a gluten free brownie sundae available on the menu but we did not try it.
Had a burger on udis roll. They said they had a dedicated fryer but I got a side salad with white balsamic instead of the fries. All good. Server was knowledgeable about ingredients in dishes etc.
After finding this establishment through the app, my family and I were hopeful but were left very disappointed. I ordered a basket of fries from their “designated frier” but ended up with severe stomach pain which I usually only get with large amounts of cross contamination. NOT celiac friendly.
What a find!! I will be a lifetime patron of this place:)
We started with the lobster spring roll and Bob’s wings. For our meal my husband and i split the shrimp & scallop over lobster fried rice and the turf&turf. They were both so fresh and bursting with flavor. For desert we had the brownie sundae and it did not disappoint.
So many options! I felt completely taken care of and in good hands. Our server Kali was top notch!
Sensitive celiac here; this is celiac safe. I got the GF lobster roll (cooked in its own pan), which was not the best lobster roll ever but pretty tasty. The fries are fried in a dedicated fryer. I recommend calling ahead to get a table outside, where there are nice views of the water, rather than inside.
Gluten free options. I had the club with fries. They have a dedicated fryer. Good staff. Fun on the water :)
Staff is knowledgeable and chef makes moderations to dishes to make the gf. Best food with a view in Kennebunkport. Views and atmosphere are Amazing
