Had a dedicated GF menu which was nice. Can't go wrong with a "make your own burger" type menu. Got 1 lb bison burger on their GF bun with avocado and lettuce. Side of shoe string fries. Was very delicious and didn't have any effects from either dish. Don't think this place is celiac friendly but it does cater very well to a GF clientele. Will return.
I want to be clear that the fryer here is NOT safe. It is a shared fryer. This was confirmed by at least three employees (one of which was a manager). Please be safe! The staff gave conflicting answers and made be very uncomfortable. I am also a former health inspector and found the place to be quite filthy. This didn't leave me feeling very safe at all! There were crumbs in my water from either poor dishwashing practices or other contamination. I actually chose to forego eating there while the rest of my non-celiac party ate.
I absolutely love this restaurant! The burgers are fantastic and the buns taste like real buns and not like the typical GF bun. Loved the sweet potato fries too! Our waitress was great and knowledgeable about GF. Now if only they would open one in OC!
My husband and I absolutely love this place. We have been in LA for about 10 days and have eaten here 3 times. They have delicious gluten free buns (that are clearly lactose free, as we are both very sensitive) and also offer Daiya "cheddar". Their burgers are so delicious that they mute the terrible fake cheese taste; it's actually worth adding to the burger. Try one with pineapple, jalapeño, bacon and bbq! Their regular fries are safe, but the sweet potato fries are where it's at! The only gf beer they had available is Omission (not safe for Celiacs); however, they offer raspberry and pear ciders that are delicious and not too sweet. All in all, dining here has repeatedly been a wonderful experience that left neither my husband or myself feeling ill after indulging in a meal we rarely are able to enjoy. Last but not least, the staff has been very friendly and accommodated. 5 starts for this place!
Dedicated gluten free menu and knowledgeable staff. Bacon cheese burger, fries, and drink for $15. Great taste and got right in for lunch on Saturday at 1 pm.
Incredible place and a great find in downtown LA. They have a complete, dedicated GF menu. Will be back next time we are in LA. Note: full non-GF menu too.
Ate lunch here. Separate GF menu but a lot of options on regular menu as well. I got a bison burger with sweet potatoes fries and they have GF beer but only on brand. The food was great, but I would not consider this a one $ waiting but more like a $$.
Safe fries!!! Dedicated frier for regular & sweet potato fries. Ask for a GF menu. I think the bun is just an Udi's bun. I much prefer to get the burger bowl with a big pile of lovely greens. The fries are really good, both kinds. No one got sick. Organic bison as a burger option. Kind of pricey for a burger joint but good quality and safe so worth it overall.
gluten free beer available. gf hamburger buns are amazing! staff is friendly and knowledgeable. ask for gf menu at front.
GF bun was pretty good. They have a dedicated drier for their regular and sweet potato fries.
Fun atmosphere! Great food!
Reliable and have a separate fryer for the Fries. Servers not uniformly knowledgeable but if you are patient and work with them it helps, for example got different answers on whether the pickles are GF. But after three or four visits our Celiac son has not gotten glutened yet and that is our standard. Only thing that would make a meaningful improvement in our view is getting a better bun. Shake Shack and some other places have figured it out; there are much better versions than Udi's out there (sorry Udi's!).
My daughter was so excited to get a gluten free hamburger on a bun that tasted good and didn't fall apart when you picked it up. Customizing your burger added to the fun experience. We ate at the bar and Katerina was super friendly. It is definitely a great place to try!
I took precautions at this place and my order was most definitely gluten free. I stressed the importance of celiac to my waitress and she assured me that I was in good hands. Later that night I was extremely sick, and we called the restaurant to make sure everything I ate was gf. Turns out, the bread that the waitress had given me was gluten sourdough bread. Just want to let you guys know so you're extra careful eating here. However it was a little while ago so things might have changed.
Had lunch here yesterday with 8 yo GF son. Full GF menu to create a burger and also sandwiches and a few other items. Dedicated fryer - great shoestring fries! Son loved it, no problems. Rest of family enjoyed menu too. Staff was very knowledgeable. Would eat here again!
Very knowledgeable. GF burgers, buns and fries.
Wonderful food!! Definitely Celiac Friendly!!!
Love the chili cheese fries (which are safe as they have a separate gluten free fryer)! The HD Chicken sandwich is also really great on their gluten free bun. This place has a good amount of gluten free options so you can go frequently and mix it up each time by creating your own burger or, if you're like me and have favorites, it's also a good and safe place to go regularly and get basically the same thing each time 😊 I personally find it really nice to have a good local place I can safely eat at regularly.
Seriously fantastic food and the service staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Dedicated fryer, so I got to have sweet potato fries! I also had the "tuna burger in a bowl" (a tuna patty atop a bed of organic greens). It was absolutely delicious! I really wish I had access to a restaurant like this at home. Can't wait for the opportunity to eat there again.
We were looking for something that was close to the Sondheim theater 🎭 and would be pretty quick and not super expensive (remember this is Times Square). My husband and I both had turkey burgers and enjoyed them. We were handed a coupon for fries when we walked up to the door and they were very good - shoe string style. I'm GF and they had a separate menu for me The GF bun was very tasty. We finished off with root beer floats. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was clean and well lighted. I would check it out when you're in Times Square
Ordered gluten free bun, and clearly received sourdough bread. When I complained I thought this wasn't gluten free, the waitress was rude and snippy at me and refused my table service the rest of the night. No compensation, nobody sent it back to the kitchen … there are many decent Counter locations nearby, this is not a good one.
Gluten-free, easy to customize menu and a conscientious server! (I mean a legit GF menu - separate, pre-printed menu with only GF items, not a regular menu with some options marked as GF-able.) Super selection of burgers, salads, sandwiches, and (for the adults) cocktails and (not GF) beer. They have two fryers; our server said one is supposed to be reserved for GF but she had her doubts so she went to investigate herself, before we could even suggest it. She reported that the two fryers are next to each other and, while the chefs try, she couldn't guarantee no XC, so we didn't chance it. (She has a family member w celiac so really understands.) Overall, a solid and well-meaning effort, but I'll probably write corporate to suggest that they separate or put a partition between the fryers. Still definitely worth checking out, but proceed w caution on the fries.
We eat here all the time. They have gluten free buns and bread. Awesome gluten free menu - actually one of the best I've ever seen! We love their milkshakes, chili, burgers, and sandwiches. My favorite meal is the banana split milkshake, sweet potato fries and gf grilled cheese. Yum!!!!!!
great place for a Newby to this gluten free thing like me
The strawberry lemonade was good. Service sucks, the wait time was long. My bison is gouda burger was given to another table. I never experienced anything like this before. I had to put more money in the meter. I thought 45 minutes would be plenty. So disappointed
Knowledgeable server and dedicated frier for the fries!
We are moving from California to Idaho. On our trip to purchase our home, we went to the Counter for lunch with our real estate agent. It was awesome! The servers were quite versed on the gluten free and inquired about the extent of sensitivity and said all items were isolated to try to prevent cross contamination. It was so good, my husband and I went back again the next day!
ate here with no ill-effects for GF husband. we all enjoyed our meal once we got it. we called in the order and we're told 20 minutes but it was almost an hour. on the plus side, everything was ready at the same time and the right temp. convenient if you are downtown.
So many options, good food. Expensive for burgers but fantastic location if you're doing the tourist thing in NYC. This was our third visit. It's very noisy.
