Nice that there’s a fun interactive gluten free restaurant but wish the food was a little more healthy. We tried multiple things waffle fish chips sandwich, fish n chips, waffle fries, fried chicken, salad with fried chicken & only one drink the rest were waters and it was $91.00 + tip. Sadly we’re used to paying a lot for GF food but we wished we might have eaten somewhere we felt it was more clean eating. I also never eat fried and the salad was the healthiest item other than the fried chicken on it. Playing board games is $7 pp so the experience will cost you. Again nice idea and points for keeping board games nostalgic.
Being newly Diagnosed with Celiac, I was stoked to find a GF restaurant near home! I’ve never had a Japanese chicken sandwich but it was delicious! And GF! My son and I had fun playing games, but I’d go back just for the food!!! Now that I know I like the savory waffle sandwich, I have to go back for the sweet!
Make a reservation in advance if you want to make sure you have a spot to play games
Ate here in November 2024. Had an excellent experience. I had the “What the Fish” which is cod fillets and waffle fries. My husband had the “Chicken Coup” waffle sandwich. We both agreed that it was tasty and the portions were filling. I also ordered a mochi waffle base as a dessert to go and enjoyed that as well. Would recommend this restaurant especially when visiting the Golden Gate Park as it was a short walk from the Botanical Gardens.
I really didn’t expect this place to be so delicious, and I am so happy to have been very, very wrong. My husband and I stopped by for lunch and both ordered meals with the chicken bites — they were juicy and flavorful, with a subtle sweetness from the mochi flour. Wish we had more time here to visit again!
Visited San Francisco from the U.K. and this is a great place to grab something gluten free and safe if visiting golden gate park. So many menu option choices and the waffle fries are very unusual and a nice change. The melted cheese waffle sandwich was great and the next night I got the dessert waffles from here as a takeout with Uber eats delivered to our hotel in fisherman’s wharf for dinner (as it’s a bit sketchy around there outside after dark).
We love board games and I was hungry. So this location was the best of both worlds. We were here for 4 hours and had a great time. The food fits the location and the people. You can be sure that it is gluten-free because everything is gluten-free. Great pastime - for example on rainy days, but it gets crowded in the evening. Big recommendation and nice concept! We would love to come back.
This place is amazing! They serve gamer food while letting you play board games. I learned the sweet waffles are also dairy free, but the savory ones are not.
The fish and chips were delicious, the waffles were crispy and delightful, and the waffle fries were such a treat.
Unique experience but good food. We went in hoping for a quick bite to eat and were surprised at the overwhelming options of games. The kitchen is dedicated gf and the savory waffles were solid. The only gluten in the facility is beer on tap and cookie crumble topping at the coffee bar, which is separate from the kitchen. I had the reef- fried cod, pickles, onions, cole slaw and then fries on the side. A good 100% safe stop in SF.
Super cute place, I highly recommend if you’re in the city with friends. I was in San Francisco for work and came by myself, and even though the food was good and safe, I would only come again if I had a group. The food is delicious but the real star of the venue is the gaming.
All sweet (mochi) waffles are GF and vegan. I did a 'build your own waffle' to avoid dairy-based toppings. Got a chocolate waffle (it's 2 quarters of a round belgian-style waffle) with peanut butter, banana, raspberries, and coconut-based whipped cream on top. So yummy!!! Maybe a bit too much sugar for my current diet; next time, I would drop the coconut whipped cream. Also got a decaf almond-milk latte. Mmmmmmm. The place was packed with groups (including some little kids, but mostly college-aged adults) happily playing games! If you are going here to eat AND play games, there's a $7/day charge for gaming in addition to the food prices. Oh, and they want us to bus our own tables, but it's not obvious. All the locals know it. :) The staff were friendly and helpful, despite being busy!
Although there are some items that contain gluten (beer) or were processed in a facility (some toppings), the kitchen is 100% GF. Glutenous or cross contaminated items are prepared separately and can be excluded from the dishes. The chicken bites were good, but not as exciting as I expected. The mouse trap was yummy, and the plain mochi waffle with strawberries and coconut whipped cream was so good, and so rich. Fellow celiacs tested various dishes with Nima and got all smiles!
Update in 2024: I’ve now been told that the furikake is celiac safe
Great experience in a fun setting. The food was tasty and the menu is nearly entirely gluten free. The staff is knowledgeable about celiac. I had the ‘reef’ savoury waffle sandwich, with cod fish filets, coleslaw and pickles, with a side of waffle fries. The restaurant has a dedicated GF fryer. Everything was delicious and fried perfectly. I also had a strawberry milkshake which was great, all their ice cream in gluten free. My companions who do not have celiac also enjoyed their savoury waffle sandwiches. There are a bunch of games, and although we did not play, it looked like a fun time.
Fantastic gluten free food that felt very safe to eat. Fried chicken sandwich was incredible. Service was super nice as well!
One of my favorite places to stop in the city! It’s a great place for casual games where I can relax and trust that none of the food will make me sick. I just don’t know if the sandwiches or dessert waffles taste better! Even gluten eating friends enjoy eating and playing here
I’ve eaten here countless times! Always feels safe and is a great go to for someone with Celiac like me. Their waffle sandwiches are all made out of mochi and the waffle fries are cooked in a dedicated fryer. My favorites sandwiches are the king of New York, the tribond, and the chicken coup. My partner doesn’t eat meat and there are plenty of vegetarian options as well.
I've eaten here a few times and I absolutely love it! I will make my family drive two hours into the city just to have my birthday party here. You need to make a reservation on their website and read through the guidelines if you want to make sure you have a spot to play when you come. It costs a bit extra to reserve in advance but it is worth it since they don't have time limits for tables so it could be a very long wait if all the tables are in use when you get there.
The food is incredible and completely safe for celiacs, I'm a big sucker for waffle shaped food. I'm also vegetarian and lactose intolerant and unfortunately they don't have a vegetarian, dairy free sandwich option. I just order the level up with portabello mushroom and provolone cheese and deal with the fact that I have a lactose intolerance reaction to it. I wish they had the option to add dairy free cheese instead. You can sub coconut whipped cream on the desert waffles and plant based milk in the drinks. My favorite is the letter jam drink with soy milk. I seriously dream about that drink, it's so good! I always get the waffle fries too which are to DIE for. Literally, I am dead. If I lived in SF, I would go here every week.
This is actually a game boutique more than a restaurant (at the time I have been there at least). I went for a brunch and had an amazing waffle with waffle fries (hummm yummy !! Unusual for celiac). The place is not really cosy to eat I’d say, but food was safe and delicious !! She told me there was only gluten in a drink with Oreo
Cute spot for board games and tasty sweet and savory waffles. The whole menu is listed as being gluten free. There are some items, like battered and fried fish, that may not be so be sure to ask. But otherwise, the savory waffle sandwiches and sweet waffles are great! Good coffee and tea menu, as well.
I got the munchkins (fried chicken with furikake) and the battleship waffle (black sesame with condensed milk, cream and strawberries). The chicken was delicious!!! I haven’t been able to eat any fried chicken since being celiac so this was a real treat! And the seasoning/sauce on it was delicious. The waffle was nice but not amazing.
Oh my gosh! This was legitimately the best meal I’ve ever had my entire gluten-free life! I legitimately would drive the four hours back to San Francisco just to have this again. I had chicken and waffles, fried fish with waffle fries, and a banana salted caramel waffle for dessert worth every penny. I still think about it all the time and place is dedicated so you can have everything!! I had to question and triple check because it did not taste gluten-free. Tasted like REAL food!
