Pretty disappointed in this place. Read great previous reviews so I was expecting the staff here to be knowledgeable about gluten free for celiacs and cross contamination. Their menu lists “GF” next to most things but when I asked the waitress if the corn tortillas were separate, fryer for chips and taquitos separate, she said “I don’t think so” but frankly seemed very unclear on what I meant. I asked if she could check with a manager or someone else on staff, stressing to her the emphasis of “allergy.” She did and came back saying both the manager and chef said it’s a shared fryer. I chose to order a few tacos and when I asked if the beans were also GF she said “I think it should be fine.” Overall didn’t feel reassured that the kitchen actually avoids cross contamination for celiacs but luckily I didn’t feel sick (albeit after eating fairly plain tacos). Wouldn’t go back again unfortunately.
All GF options were clearly marked. As with most traditional Mexican, the majority of the menu was naturally gluten free. They do use both wheat and corn tortillas, and I had to impress upon the waitress the importance of the ‘allergy’ part of celiac, until she confirmed with the kitchen that the tortillas would be fried separately. Taste was great and portions were amazing!
