The Local Scoop

We were so excited to try this place, based on the reviews. We arrived with a large group and explained that my son and I have celiac disease. The scooper explained our options and that she would scoop fresh ice cream from the back. We allowed everyone else to order first so the scooper could do just one hand washing and glove change. After everyone else had already been served, the scooper informed us that they had no GF flavors available to scoop fresh in the back. Our only option was to choose the GF flavors out front, which had already been scooped using a shared scooper. Obviously, this isn't an option for people with celiac disease, so we couldn't order. My child had to sit and watch everyone else enjoy their ice cream since it had already been scooped. I wish the scooper had told us up front we couldn't be helped. We could have give across the street to Jenny's.

Lots of options! Allergens clearly marked and they will scoop from the back for you. Amazing service.

The staff here is incredible. So friendly & helpful. They go to the back to scoop my ice cream from fresh buckets to nearly eliminate contamination risk (I am celiac + allergic to wheat & tree nuts). My options are sometimes limited, based on what they have fresh in the back, but I always have an option for something delicious. I usually get a scoop in a cup, but they also offer GF cones.

Delicious!!! Very easily marked which items are gf and not. They have 2 different type of gf cones as well.

They really seem to be careful about cross contamination. If you have a medical reason for not eating a particular thing they will go to their back and get a scoop out of their freezer stock. I emailed the staff and they said they have a very rigorous process for cleaning and making sure to keep free of cross contamination. They also have really tasty gluten free cones!

They were very friendly and had several dessert options that were sensitive to my gluten and dairy issues. They even had a choice of gluten free cone or cake cup🍦The "I can't believe its gluten free" flavor ice cream was decadent. And dairy free!
