The food was great, however, they had very little knowledge on gluten, despite having GF options listed on the menu. Only pancakes were labeled that they could be made GF. I ordered a dish with eggs, bacon, cheese, potatoes and tomatoes and I just wanted to make sure it was GF but was told it cannot be made GF. I asked what in the dish contained gluten and was told “idk tomatoes?” Spoke with the manager who said they would not know what contains gluten but her best guess was the potatoes. I wound up ordering the dish anyway and was fine, but I would be cautious especially if you are very sensitive. I am not sure about cross contamination at this location. The GF pancakes were delicious and came with an umbrella as to not get confused with the other pancakes on the table.
Many Original Pancake House locations offer gluten free pancakes. Please speak to your server about taking the proper precautions to prevent cross contamination, if necessary.
I used to frequent this place years ago before I acquired a severe gluten sensitivity. Back then, it was a great place. It’s gone down hill drastically. I recently went there with my family. My niece, mother, and I all ordered the gluten free pancakes. Surprisingly, we all got sick. The place was dirty and cross contamination was clearly unavoidable for them. Beware and be careful!
The BEST gluten free pancakes! And their omelets are incredible. . they are baked and fluffy and like no omelet I have ever had. The waitress we had was awesome and very knowledgeable about gluten.
Knowledgable staff, delicious GF pancakes cooked in separate pan with separate spatula. We love it here!
Was glutened by their food today. It was my first time there, and asked them about their GF pancake prep, and was told they cook them on a separate cooktop. I ordered those, plus 2 eggs and bacon, and told them about my Celiac. I’m pretty sure what came out were regular pancakes. They didn’t smell like regular pancakes, and my son said they tasted different than his wheat flour pancakes. But, I was violently ill later today. Disappointing.
We’ll be back! And they do “take out”! But for this app, I would not have considered going here for GF food, since it certainly doesn’t sound safe. It is safe! Server explained GF is clearly marked on the menu (& it’s almost everything!) and is served on yellow plates - always make sure that happens. For naturally GF food like eggs, make sure to tell the server you need it prepared GF & celiac safe. My omelette was huge & fluffy (more like a round egg bake, not thin & folded over) & I took 1/2 home. It came with 3 full sized GF pancakes which were delicious. My son gobbled up the GF chocolate chip pancakes, a staple he hasn’t been able to have since pre-diagnosis. It’s sweetened, whipped cream made it perfect for him. He also had the chicken chipotle crepe & was impressed at how good it was, & it was spicy, not bland. Non-celiac daughter raved about her raspberry French toast. Receipt properly showed what needed to be GF, and it was affordable! Like I said - we’ll be back. They were only serving the “breakfast menu” this Sunday. I’m curious what their lunch menu has on it.
