they take extra precautions and are celiac friendly. great savory crepes
Great GF offers! GF Pancakes are super tasty! Good GF toast, etc. my waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable. Loved the experience!
Great food. Knowledgable staff about Celiac and cross contamination. Will be back!
Incredible food and service. Have been here lots of times and have never been sick. 100% recommend you go here for great and safe GF food!
Great food great portions. Celiac friendly food comes out on a red plate. Great system of seperating it from gluten food. Small wait but worth it.
Great food. Everything is clearly labeled. Did not get sick. All gluten free comes out on a red plate!
BEST GLUTEN FREE BREAKFAST! My daughter and I both have celiac, and we had yet to find a restaurant to serve her gf French toast. This place knocked it out of the park. I had the strawberry crepes and was also in heaven! They prepared our meals on dedicated gf equipment, too. The service was fast and friendly. We'll be back for sure!
Great GF pancakes! They roll their sausages in wheat flour, though, and those are cooked right next to the bacon, so make sure to ask for a clean grill if you order bacon and are celiac. They seemed happy to accommodate me. I did not have a reaction the one time I ate there.
Great gluten free breakfast. I have gotten sick here a few times.
I really like this local Breakfast chain. They have a wonderful GF menu. They serve all of their GF items on Red Plates to ensure the staff knows of the allergy.
Great gf menu options and knowledgeable staff! Wish we had this chain in Iowa!
Their GF items are spot on! Delicious food and very friendly service. The hashbrowns are amazing. Omelettes are HUGE and are definitely enough to split. gF Pancakes take care of your cravings for real flapjacks. Great!
Awesome pancakes!!! I enjoyed the Strawberry pancakes and turkey sausage immensely!!! Highly recommend this place, I love they color code the plates so you can be assured your food is gf!!!
Outstanding! GF pancakes (made from Pamela's mixes) served on a red plate for allergy awareness. Hash browns were not only gf, but crispy and delicious!
Best breakfast place to go with a gluten allergy. Almost every dish can be made gluten free with no charge. Crepes are fabulous and so are the hash browns.
I had to go through several different staff before the manager came out to help. They eventually gave us a server who had a better idea of how they cooked the food and certain ingredients. The majority of the GF menu is made with Pamela's products so they all have dairy in them. I was able to have the French toast (GF, DF) because they use GF bread dipped in an egg batter. If you only have to avoid gluten then this is a great option.
Very accommodating! No up charge for GF substitutes!
Great options . Staff is knowledgable and accommodating!! I had the pecan pancakes!!! Yum!
Very busy! But the GF menu is great. Its so nice to be able to have breakfast out. Food was delicious. I am not having any kind of reaction so no cross contamination here
Fantastic gf pancakes, crepes, omelettes, etc. great service.
This place is phenomenal!!! Very knowledgable and the food is GREAT!! Best breakfast in a long time, lots of options too!! Awesome!!!
Great food. Well trained servers.
I can have what I actually want at OPH. Ooey, gooey maple syrupy goodness away from home. Imagine the joy! One of my favorite places to be...the servers there are top notch too. Thank you OPH. OPH omelet is a fave, as are the apple crepes. Choc chip or bacon pancakes great too.
Wow!! So good. Very careful about cross contamination. The pancakes are superb! A must try.
Amazing and totally clean prep! They serve the GF food on a red plate so you know for sure the cooks got the memo.
This was one of our favorite places before a Celiac diagnosis. It is SO nice to still be able to go there as a family. Nobody (no mater what they can our cannot eat) will be disappointed!
Amazing breakfast! Gluten free batter for gluten free pancakes, crepes & French toast.
Very understanding about GF items, lots of choices, knowledgeable staff, and the food tastes great. Any of the pancakes are tasty and good texture, I just wish they had GF Buckwheat. The only draw back is their popularity means a lot of rude and entitled people who don't like to wait and take it out on other customers and staff. Go on a weekday to avoid the passive aggressive suburban soccer mom's from hell.
Maybe it was the server I unfortunately had but I did not feel safe to eat here beyond a bowl of fruit. The gluten free pancakes are made on the same griddle; “we clean it off”. The waffles are made in the same waffle irons as non GF waffles, “ we clean that too and use it”. I’m truly happy fellow Celiacs have had success here but I find it to be too risky; thereby unsafe.
I can’t say enough about this place.. awesome gluten free pancakes for a decent price-bonus- they serve coffee labs coffee which is really good (local). You can get add ins like banana or chocolate chip and a few others. I highly recommend this place.
I go there and get the banana split waffle every time, great knowledgeable staff.
My husband and I ate at the Original Pancake House, on Parmer Lane, for breakfast Sat. morning; it was our first time to eat there. I had three “Gluten Free” Original Pancakes which were so delicious!! They were nice and thick, and had substance to them. The soft whipped butter and warmed syrup was a nice compliment to the pancakes. I also had 2 thick strips of turkey bacon, which were a bit over cooked. My husband enjoyed his breakfast of Eggs Benedict w/regular bacon, and a half order of Buttermilk Pancakes. The coffee was piping hot and yummy. I wanted to compliment our waitress, Daniela. When I told her that I had to eat “gluten free” because I have Celiac; she seemed acknowledgeable about what I was saying, and showed me the GF items on the menu, and explained the cooking process in the kitchen area, which made me feel, at ease. Thanks! We will definitely be back!
Not safe for those with a serious gluten allergy or sensitivity. We walked in and walked right back out after inquiring about their cross contamination. Menu says on it shared kitchen and shared cooking surface. Asked the waitress if they could cook on a clean, separate surface and was told no they cook all the pancakes together on the same pan.
I called ahead to ask about a GF menu. Hostess said they have GF pancakes. I decided to meet family here for breakfast. While ordering I asked about pancakes and server was unaware of procedures for prep, only aware that they do offer GF pancakes. I also asked about their egg dishes and if any of these could be prepared GF. Her response - “we don’t put milk in any of our egg dishes.” I then decided to just have coffee. GF pancakes might be fine for someone without Celiac, but as a Celiac I would not eat food from this restaurant.
Really good pancakes. Didn't get sick. Staff was knowledgable.
Used to love this place! Have eaten here so many times, but today may have been my last. I went to the Wells Fargo championship after here and that was a huge mistake because I was SO sick and absolutely humiliated in front of so many people. Projectile vomit all over myself. Ruined the day for me and my hubby. BE CAREFUL eating here.
Staff was knowledgeable and knew exactly what was made in a separate fryer from gluten- good place for a celiac!
This place was wonderful! I was diagnosed with Celiac 5 years ago and haven't had a decent pancake until now! It was delicious and the service was fantastic! They knew all about Celiac and knew how to make sure that everything came out just right!
We were very nervous about eating here as there was only 1 review. We called ahead and were informed that the staff would clean the griddle before cooking any GF food. The waitress was not very knowledgeable but promised to be careful. The side of bacon needed to be sent back b/c she forgot to indicate it needed to be cooked separately. Overall the food was fine and my daughter did not get sick, which is the most important aspect of eating out for her.
I have eaten at two Original Pancake House locations in the Twin Cities. I like how many options they have for GF - not just a couple of menu options I didn’t feel like I had to miss out on anything when ordering. They definitely have trained their staff on food allergies and have defined procedures in place. Gluten free meals come on a different colored/rimmed plate and when they serve it to you, they verify “gluten free pancakes” or whatever you ordered. I had great meals both times and had no reaction afterward. I will go again.
Had a great experience here with my 4yo daughter who has Celiacs. The staff answered all my questions and I felt confident eating here. Also best gluten free pancakes I have tried yet.
Staff was TERRIBLE. Completely lied to me and continued to screw up my order. Gave me extra food after messing my order up, and then expected us to pay for their mistakes. Menu for gluten free sucks as well, but surprisingly the food was decent so if you’re lookin for bad service and mediocre food, this is the place.
Awesome breakfast. Really hard to find a safe breakfast place but this is it. All GF orders come out on a special plate. All GF orders are made in separate prep area and grill. Blueberry pancakes are great. Will be a regular here.
Went here while visiting California, after looking at many different places to eat I found The Original Pancake House and it seemed the best for celiac. I had the gluten free chocolate chip pancake and it was very well made and I could not tell if it was gluten free or not. The staff were all very kind and accommodating, they listened carefully and understood the precautions needed for celiac. I would recommend this restaurant but as always make sure to let the staff know if you have an allergy as they take it seriously. I didn't not feel ill afterwards.
If you are Celiac, this is not a safe location to eat at. All cooking is done in the same equipment as the gluten items. No separate space or dedicated waffle iron. Yes they have a gluten free menu but that's because they have ingredients that are gluten free but that's all. Major risk of cross contamination and getting sick.
I had high expectations reading the reviews before coming here but was very disappointed. I explained to the waitress that I have celiac disease and they need to use new pans and utensils etc. I ordered eggs, sausage links and hash browns and confirmed with her they were all gluten free. It came out on a normal white plate (pretty sure their GF food comes out on colored plates). I was hesitant but starving so I ate it nonetheless (obviously should’ve followed my gut and been more careful). My receipt did not have an allergy alert or anything so I know she didn’t tell the kitchen. Well I definitely got glutened as I’ve been in the bathroom since. Very disappointed with the service. I will be calling tomorrow when they open back up to let their manager know and hope this doesn’t happen again. Also they don’t have a separate GF menu so it is very confusing to know what is GF and what isn’t, the only thing labeled as available as GF is their pancakes, waffles, and crepes and not the naturally GF things like eggs, potatoes etc. I really hope they get a separate GF menu to make it more clear for those of us with celiac disease and uncertain about their menu.

Many Original Pancake House locations offer gluten free pancakes. Please speak to your server about taking the proper precautions to prevent cross contamination, if necessary.
