The gluten free "ancient grains" pancakes were good, not great, and they were the only thing on the menu marked "GF". The waitress told us that the omelets were not gluten free, although she could not tell us why. I ended up getting plain eggs, plain bacon and fruit. If other people in a group want to come back here, I would go, but I'm not going to choose it again.
Many Original Pancake House locations offer gluten free pancakes. Please speak to your server about taking the proper precautions to prevent cross contamination, if necessary.
Love their gluten free ancient grain pancakes and bacon. Hubby likes the gluten free ones better than their regular ones even though he has no issues with gluten. 2X2X3 for me. Two eggs any way you like them, two strips of bacon and 3 gluten free pancakes.
I don’t know why this place has such good reviews. My gluten free pancakes were raw, and the “tropical syrup” was just orange peels in syrup. The service was terrible, and we had to wait fifty minutes for our food. Even then, they didn’t bring out half of our food until we were already done eating. Will not be returning.
We’ll be back! And they do “take out”! But for this app, I would not have considered going here for GF food, since it certainly doesn’t sound safe. It is safe! Server explained GF is clearly marked on the menu (& it’s almost everything!) and is served on yellow plates - always make sure that happens. For naturally GF food like eggs, make sure to tell the server you need it prepared GF & celiac safe. My omelette was huge & fluffy (more like a round egg bake, not thin & folded over) & I took 1/2 home. It came with 3 full sized GF pancakes which were delicious. My son gobbled up the GF chocolate chip pancakes, a staple he hasn’t been able to have since pre-diagnosis. It’s sweetened, whipped cream made it perfect for him. He also had the chicken chipotle crepe & was impressed at how good it was, & it was spicy, not bland. Non-celiac daughter raved about her raspberry French toast. Receipt properly showed what needed to be GF, and it was affordable! Like I said - we’ll be back. They were only serving the “breakfast menu” this Sunday. I’m curious what their lunch menu has on it.
Gluten free pancakes served on a separate plate. everything is made naturally. good friendly service . pancakes sold separately but can be part of a package with eggs sausage bacon. save a few $$$
No gluten free menu. When I asked, hostess said pancakes could be made with Gluten Free batter but might be contaminated; I took a pass on pancakes. We ordered a Greek Omelette and an aged White Cheddar omelette with hash browns. Both omelettes were extremely over cooked and barely edible. When I asked our server if this was their normal preparation, she said “we’ve been really busy and maybe the griddle was too hot”. No offer to adjust bill or replacement Omelettes. We were on a tight schedule, so we just paid and left. These were the worst omelettes I have ever eaten in any restaurant. Take your business elsewhere.
Asked waitress if their GF pancakes were cooked in a separate area & she said, "Not necessarily." Not impressed with that & I am a very sensitive celiac so pancakes here weren't an option for me. Omelets & potatoes were delicious though!
GF pancakes and crepes! All GF items marked on menu. GF meal is ALWAYS served on a colored plate, while others come on white. I have eaten here several times now and have been safe every time. As a super sensitive Celiac, this means a lot to me.
So many options on their breakfast menu. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. My food came out on a special red plate indicating allergy/gluten free order. I had the pumpkin pancakes and my daughters had the chocolate chip pancakes. Both were delicious and I have had no sensitive celiac issues!
Our server, Radion, went above and beyond to help ensure that my food was GF friendly. Very caring and encouraging young man! They let me know that the food isn’t gluten FREE but is gluten free FRIENDLY. Ample GF menu. We came twice.
GF food is prepared on the same grill as the regular food and there are no extra precautions in the kitchen. On gheir website they make it seem like you could realy eat gluten free pancakes here, but that is clearly not the case. I wouldn’t even be sure about something like the egg dishes they serve.
Staff was accommodating on making my meal GF while saving us $ on combos because my wife is not GF. Pancakes seem to be the only GF special item and they are delicious! Typically get the eggs, sausage, grits, & GF pancakes and have no gluten sensitivity to any of those items.
My husband and I have tried eating here on several occasions. Each time the staff seems less and less knowledgeable, and takes our allergy concerns less seriously. Most recently the manager came over to explain the allergy friendly meal process including identifiable multicolored plates. Our food came out on regular plates and we were told they don’t have colorful plates anymore by the waitstaff. After getting sick yet again from this locations it is needless to say we will not be coming back.
Seriously ? These pancakes are HORRIBLE ! Completely uneatable . I chocked down one to be sure . But , I just can’t . 🤢 If you think theses are good GF pancakes you need to get out in the world . Wow just shocked someone liked these . I make better at home all the time and have had far better numerous places . I assume the regular pancakes are better . The 1 Star is for the GREAT service and descent coffee .
Waitress was knowledgeable, but of course that's hit or miss in such a busy place. I asked where the GF pancakes are cooked and she went to double check and I was told they have a separate grill for gluten free. I had the two by four, which is two eggs and four pancakes. I also had an order of hashbrowns which I asked to be cooked on the GF grill just in case. The pancakes were delicious! So much so that I had to double check that they were indeed GF. They arrived with a little toothpick flag in them and we're noticeably different from my husband's gluten pancakes though. The waitress told me they have another celiac customer that brings her Nima tester in and has never had a problem.
The Original Pancake House in Aliso Viejo, CA is not celiac friendly. The menu lists gluten friendly pancakes with a note that they are not for celiacs. When I asked the server if the griddle could be cleaned off before making them, she said: No they won't do that. But if you are not celiac and just want to eat GF pancakes, they are good.
The gluten free pancakes were good. They had a few gluten free items and they cook it separately. A different person brings the GF food to the table so I knew it was the GF food. My son never got sick from them. I would definitely go back.
We are from Columbus, OH and frequent the OPH in Columbus. This location doesn’t hold a candle to that one! No GF waffles, only a couple GF pancake selections, and the pancakes unfortunately taste GF (the ones at the OPH in Columbus don’t taste GF). As a disclaimer, I probably would have enjoyed it more had the location in Columbus not already totally exceeded my expectations.
Delicious gluten-free pancakes. Though my waitress thought you could only order blueberries or bananas as add-ins, I see get reviews discussing more options. I docked a star because when they served me, I double-checked that they were gluten-free. They said "no" and quickly took them away. They were super apologetic and brought the correct ones out shortly after. Always confirm!
Staff was knowledgeable and there were plenty of gluten free options! I went with a large group from work and was concerned about my food getting mixed up with others. That didn’t happen though! They put there gluten free food one different colored plates! I ordered strawberry crepes and the were delicious! Best part was I have celiac disease and I didn’t get sick! Will eat here again!
Very understanding about GF items, lots of choices, knowledgeable staff, and the food tastes great. Any of the pancakes are tasty and good texture, I just wish they had GF Buckwheat. The only draw back is their popularity means a lot of rude and entitled people who don't like to wait and take it out on other customers and staff. Go on a weekday to avoid the passive aggressive suburban soccer mom's from hell.
Maybe it was the server I unfortunately had but I did not feel safe to eat here beyond a bowl of fruit. The gluten free pancakes are made on the same griddle; “we clean it off”. The waffles are made in the same waffle irons as non GF waffles, “ we clean that too and use it”. I’m truly happy fellow Celiacs have had success here but I find it to be too risky; thereby unsafe.
I can’t say enough about this place.. awesome gluten free pancakes for a decent price-bonus- they serve coffee labs coffee which is really good (local). You can get add ins like banana or chocolate chip and a few others. I highly recommend this place.
I go there and get the banana split waffle every time, great knowledgeable staff.
My husband and I ate at the Original Pancake House, on Parmer Lane, for breakfast Sat. morning; it was our first time to eat there. I had three “Gluten Free” Original Pancakes which were so delicious!! They were nice and thick, and had substance to them. The soft whipped butter and warmed syrup was a nice compliment to the pancakes. I also had 2 thick strips of turkey bacon, which were a bit over cooked. My husband enjoyed his breakfast of Eggs Benedict w/regular bacon, and a half order of Buttermilk Pancakes. The coffee was piping hot and yummy. I wanted to compliment our waitress, Daniela. When I told her that I had to eat “gluten free” because I have Celiac; she seemed acknowledgeable about what I was saying, and showed me the GF items on the menu, and explained the cooking process in the kitchen area, which made me feel, at ease. Thanks! We will definitely be back!
