We had a great experience here. I ordered a gf burger, and it was delicious ( no gf bread/rolls though). My boyfriend enjoyed a regular burger and said it was the best one he's ever had! Staff was great and enjoyed sharing tips for visiting the rest of the island! Would highly recommend for an affordable and safe pub-type meal San Juan style!
The beginning of our service definitely would have gotten 1 star. We sat at the bar to eat and I immediately asked the bartender, who was our server, what he would recommend. Keep in mind, we only came to this restaurant because of the great reviews on this app. Well, the bartender was incredibly rude and disrespectful, he kept saying "we are not gluten free here " and would just shrug his shoulders. It was obvious he didn't want to have to be troubled by me. I kept pushing and asked to speak with someone who could help me...he then got one of the kitchen staff, but tgen had to translate for us. After a few minutes of eye rolls and such from him, I was able to get food ordered. I ordered the plantain nachos as someone had mentioned on this site that they were GF...however, I was told they were not by the staff. I was finally able to get them to make them GF by frying the plantains in new oil...all my idea by the way...my God, it was like pulling teeth! So, why the 5 stars?? Well, the food was very good, also, I didn't get sick, and while eating the manager came to check on us and share some insider info on places we should see before leaving the island. His name is Ryan and he was wonderful. He definitely turned a negative experience into a positive one. I also informed him of the "problems" I had with the bartender and he assured me he would be talking to him when I left. All in all, I would absolutely eat here again...just save yourself some trouble and ask to speak to the manager when you first get there.
The food was very good! We had great guava flan for desert. Joel was our waiter and very helpful. He made sure with the kitchen that my meal was gluten free.
Very good great food always making sure its gluten free
I'm on vacation in Puerto Rico. Great Mofongo with pork! I had piña colada, nachos made with plantains, Mofongo with pork belly and Guava flan. Everything was great!!! They did not have GF menu, however, the staff was very knowledgeable and went to verified my order with the chef. 10/10 I hope to go again before my vacation are over.
Went to "The Parrot Club" while in San Juan. I wanted to try something off the beaten path that was not a chain restaurant. The waiter new what gluten free was and was very helpful. I had the Cabani Burgar without a bun. I did not have the fries because they were fried with the other food with flour. I substitute the fries with beans and rice. It was all very good.
