Chef came out to talk to me about my order. Wait staff and chef very knowledgeable about avoiding cross contamination.

Not sure where the previous reviewer came up with 25% gluten free on the menu. Much less by my count. And simple things that should be, like fries, aren’t. Two stars for trying, -3 for major lack of selection.
Gluten free options are marked on the menu. It’s about 25% (ish) of the standard menu. I had Carolina style chopped bbq, green beans, and cole slaw. It was good and the server was really reassuring and accommodating when I told him I have celiac.

Famous for pulled pork bbq and ribs. Some GF sides available.
Only eaten here once and didn’t get sick. Ran in for some takeout today and the hostess bagged my meal separately from my husband’s. Nice that they took that extra step.

I didn't get sick but I can't say I loved the food. The BBQ turkey had so many little bones in it. I'm worried about children eating it and swallowing them. Not okay! The potato salad reminded me of an old fashioned potato salad my grandma makes and I enjoyed it.
I love barbecue and I was disappointed here. As the most popular and praised BBQ place in the area, it was sad to taste to dry brisket. Even the sauce couldn’t compensate. The appetizers were good though.

LOVE that their main menu depicts what is gluten free (and also labels vegetarian options). Both sauces were gluten free and delicious. Our server was great and didn't hesitate when I asked him about gluten free. I had the brisket and collards and green beans. They serve biscuits and hush puppies to the table so just let them know if you don't want it served. I heard the pulled pork was incredible, and is also gluten free. Would come back!
Quite a few barbecue options. The server confirmed that everything is separate in the kitchen. I did not get sick.

Everything is amazing. The BBQ, the brisket, the ribs, the soup, the sides.. They will even sub out ice cream if you order family style dinner. Bourbon ice cream is to die for!
This was a huge let down. After taking care to order gluten free they didn't write my order with any sort of allergen indication and included some breaded product that was likely not GF. We ordered the Big Boy meat platter. My partner liked the pulled pork well enough but it was a bit spicy for my taste. I tried the chicken, brisket, and ribs but the seasoning wasn't anything to write home about.
Great bbq. Menu is clearly marked with lots of gluten-free options.
Perfect BBQ food. Meat is tender and flavorful. Really like the brisket and baby back ribs. Most sides are gf; just ask.

My plate came out with hush puppies and a biscuit on the meat.

I've eaten at The Pit a few times without a problem but this time someone got careless in the kitchen. Halfway through my side of gf Brussels, I found a few green beans from the (not gf) green bean casserole. Later, I felt the effects of being glutened. If I go back, I will just get the meat and a salad. The sides are just too risky in my opinion.

Excellent! Servers were knowledgeable and helpful. Had a great meal and was at-ease. I only suggest that you cover your own utensils to avoid crumbs from the bread served to the table.
PS -make sure you try their ice cream!

Before GF, one of my favorites. Now with GF, still a good choice, with a limited but clear and worthwhile menu.
