They are quite knowledgeable and accommodating. Your food comes out with a red allergy flag and waitstaff and managers are diligent in checking. That being said, quite limited options and I would say overpriced for what you get (but that's River North, right?)

Gf items are marked in the menu and they also offer gf pasta. I got the vodka pasta with gluten free noodles and my dish came out with a marker on it for gf. Very knowledgable staff that take allergies seriously! Great place to come with friends or co workers. Very lively ambiance but not super loud. I would go back!

Went here for a work lunch and got the gluten free vodka pasta. It was one of those times where I was shocked at how good the pasta was and couldn’t believe it was GF. Staff was super knowledgeable and helpful. Would 100% come again!

They make sure the manager talks to you and put red flags in everything that is safe. Delicious food.

When I came back with my teens who are celiacs who do not like a good steak as I do I realized how limited the selection is. Also we got a different waiter who quite frankly seemed pissed off to be serving celiacs however he did double check everything!!

I had a great meal at the smith! Everything was delicious and the server was really knowledgeable about gluten free. Nice to have another regular go-to option in river north!

I had the gluten free vodka pasta and it was so good, I didn’t get sick and I had the leftovers for dinner. I went with a group of coworkers but I messed up the reservation date, they were still able to accommodate us during the lunch rush and the service was prompt. I imagine they have other items that can be made gluten free but I saw the gluten free pasta option on the menu and wanted to order quickly so I did not ask about other options.

Felt extremely comfortable eating here. Server was very knowledgeable and did not hesitate to check on GF status. After I ordered, the chef came out to double check. All of the staff were very proud of the ways they accommodate allergies. All celiac safe items were marked with a red flag. Choices were a bit limited, I had an excellent steak and sautéed baby spinach. Bummed that the smashed potatoes were prepared at the pastry station, so they were a no go. Also, they had fabulous looking desserts, but none were GF (except ice cream).

Fun, nice place to eat! The location is perfect because it’s on a street that is dedicated for restaurant seating (no cars!), so it’s a fun atmosphere/area. Has an okay selection of celiac safe options. Loved the oysters, shrimp cocktail, and enjoyed the salmon. All of my dishes came out with a red flag on them, marking my gluten allergy. They also have gf pasta available!

I also have an allergy to alliums so I spoke to the server about gluten free and my allergy and he wrote everything down and brought over his manager to talk over the menu. We decided on a steak with a mixed greens salad! Super delicious. Would come here again!

I had delicious gf penne vodka here. The main thing I saw was a variety of pastas (4 options) but I’m pretty sure they have gf buns. Pasta was done perfectly, they did a good job with it. Meal came out with a red flag in it for allergies and the waiter was aware. I will be back!

Lunch was a little disappointing at The Smith. Some items are gluten free, unfortunately the shrimp & grits were not, but the cheddar jalapeño grits were, and they were really tasty so it worked out.
