Delicious food! We had the mac and cheese bites, steak sliders on gluten free bread (not a bun), and bacon cheddar fries. Will definitely be coming back.
This was a wonderful surprise. Lots of comfort food to pick from. Such a fun place, great music. Had the cheesesteak and fresh cut fries! So good. Took home a mac and cheese dish for lunch the following day.
I am a freshman (from South Jersey) at Montclair State University and I was just diagnosed with Celiac at the end of August 2017. Completely changing my diet and moving away from home to start college just a couple weeks after my diagnosis was a big challenge. Fortunately, the dining halls on campus had "great accommodations" for Celiacs. At least, that is what my family and I were told. I don't mean to talk poorly about MSU's dining (which absolutely stinks), but it drove me to find good restaurants near campus, that were Celiac friendly. Fortunately, one of the first places that I found was The Spot. I went the first time with my family and we all fell in love. My dad did some research and found out that the owner has Celiac, so of course it would be a safe option for me. Since September, I have lost track of the amount of times I have gone to The Spot (without ever getting sick). I've probably been more than 30 times. The prices are reasonable (by a college student's standards), the atmosphere is very friendly and chill (you can always expect good music), and the food is absolutely amazing. I've had almost everything on the menu and I often get a second entree to take back to my dorm for the following day. I have brought a lot of friends with me and they have all fallen in love too. I bring my girlfriend to The Spot for date nights (pretty much every Friday); it's a great place to relax and destress after a long week of classes. She also loves everything on the menu (we always like to split GF tots or GF fried mac bites). One other great thing (for me at least) about The Spot is that I can either Uber from MSU's campus and get door-to-door service, OR I can take the train (for $2.25) from campus to Walnut Street Station, which is only a block away from the restaurant. If I could give The Spot six stars, I would. I highly recommend trying, whether you have Celiac or not.
NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY. Cook everything on the same grill top and use the same waffle maker for both gf and non gf items!!!
This place is the bomb! We had the fried mac and cheese bites, the buffalo wings, and the BBQ chicken mac n cheese. We also had funnel cake for dessert! Everything was delicious! The waitress told us that there is a whole separate dedicated gluten free kitchen space in the basement and I didn't get a reaction. I will be back and I'm bringing my friend who also has Celiacs
Good quality Comfort Food. Had breakfast amd thoroughly enjoyed it. Was told owner has Celiac so they are very Gluten Friendly here. I Love that most ingredients are locally sourced, antibiotic free, and non GMO as well. We'll be back! Knocking off a star due to another visit that should be an embarrassment to the owner. we may give them another chance as they are trying to make improvements but....they likely lost our business.
Almost all of the menu is available gluten free, I had the traditional mac and cheese and it was to die for, I will definitely be back here again!
Great food! great atmosphere. everything can be made gluten free except the challa French toast. Depending on your server your experience can vary greatly, but the food is always on point.
I have both a gluten and dairy allergy (dairy being my primary allergy). They definitely understand gluten issues, and if that is your only allergy then you will be fine. I let them know I have both allergies and still got sick. It happens often since many places are educated on gluten intolerance and not dairy. My reaction was on par with a dairy reaction. So if you also have issues with diary, I wouldn't eat here. Other than that, the place is super cute and they use sustainable locally sourced ingredients which is cool.
Many good options for GF. I never had a reaction. Been there a dozen times recently. Service can vary greatly and is sometimes poor. They need to focus on consistency!!
We've eaten here several times and gotten food delivered and it's consistently yummy and safe. Sadly, my kid does not like their chicken fingers very much. But he loves the gluten free funnel cake, so I can usually bribe him with that treat.
