We have gotten pollo asado and carne asada tacos for years. Even with the cross contamination mentioned in other reviews, it’s been okay for us. The salsa bar doesn’t appear to have any gluten ingredients, and we use more than half the condiments except for the 2 highest spicy salsas. Depends on the gluten intolerance/sensitivity, but even as a pretty gluten-sensitive diner and diagnosed celiac, we haven’t had any problems when asking the order to be made with corn tortillas

Don’t eat here if you have celiac or a strong sensitivity. They warm flour tortillas on the flat top grill among other cross contamination risks.

Cross contact will be an issue here. Food is amazing, but there is lots of cross contact and it is not very safe

Update: April 2023
The person working the counter and the cooks would not give a confident answer on if the corn tortillas contained flour. Maybe they are fine, but the lack of confidence made me order something for the kid, and nothing for me.

Okay so let’s start with the good. These carne asada tacos are life changing. Like, they’re the real deal Southern California tacos that you’ll tell all your friends about when you go home to anywhere else in the world. I lived here in SD for over a decade, in a world where I didn’t know I was allergic to wheat, and these tacos brought me back to the carne asada burritos I miss so much. Also, my teenager asked to eat here two days in a row. Haha. I also do think they cook the corn tortillas in a dedicated place. And they’re homemade.
The bad: there are no substitutions. You want the breakfast burritos with corn tortillas? That’s gonna be a no. This was a huge bummer for me. It doesn’t matter who is working the cash register, you’re not gonna get that breakfast taco (unless the menu changes).
So- good for lunch and dinner. Amazing amazing amazing tacos.

They know what you can eat as far as gluten free goes. However beware…. Cross contamination is huge here!

Great tacos! Almost all tacos GF except Baja and Sonora. Chips are GF but do share a fryer with gluten ingredients.

Corn tacos and flour tortillas were cooked in separate areas. They also appeared to use separate parts of the grill for different meats/seafood. I got a shrimp taco and had no reaction.
Not a dedicated gluten-free facility but all tacos are served on corn tortillas and all meats are gluten-free. It’s always very packed from open to close so be prepared to wait!
