There are gluten free labeled options on the menu, but when we asked the waitress and mentioned celiac, she said there is a lot of cross contamination in the kitchen and they can’t guarantee anything is gluten free. She was very nice and took the time to go back and ask the kitchen, but they confirmed they would not provide gluten free food.

Usually, hit this place when in FLAG. Love the funky atmosphere and location. They understand celiac and seem to take good care during prep. I would recommend keeping it simple here. Great for brunch.

I loved it here. Sat outside in beautiful weather, wonderful wait staff and I had the Almond Flour Pancakes with maple syrup and I loved it. I’ll go back again for breakfast tomorrow 😎

I was so excited to find this place but it was not good at all and I don’t feel like it was safe for severe intolerant and def not celiacs. And we couldn’t even eat our food at the restaurant because of all of the flies. Absolute ridiculous amount of flies- live ones and even more dead ones just on tables, chairs, window seals, so gross 😰

Delicious breakfast! The server was extremely knowledgeable and listed precautions they can take. She marks all allergies clearly on the ticket and informed the other employees of our allergies. They had GF bread, buns, and tortillas. They change gloves before working on allergy orders, and wipe the area. There is a chance of cross contamination, but they took precautions and I felt comfortable eating there. Had the fried egg sandwich and loved it.

Told the waitress I have celiac when ordering and needed clean cooking surfaces and utensils, glove changes, etc. Got my food and my Nima sensor found gluten. Spoke to the manager and she informed me they cook everything on the same griddle but do try to wipe it off before cooking food for someone who says they have celiac. Never ended up getting food that was actually gluten free, so I wouldn’t recommend if you have celiac.

The menu has designated GF items and there's toast and wrap options. However the toast is made in the same toaster as normal bread and the kitchen may take the GF allergy notice to heart but my server failed to do that and even when I sent my food back she brought it to the table with the same problem. I decided not to send it back a third time and just eat the parts that didn't touch the bread.
It's a great atmosphere, I'm gonna say it's more of a gluten friendly establishment instead of gluten free.

What a wonderful eclectic vibe! Their fence is beautiful paintings of different owls- super friendly staff!! There are so many gf choices to eat here- both breakfast ( served all day) and lunch. The gf bread is 3.75 more but it’s very good and doesn’t fall apart at all. I got the BLTA and they pile on the bacon-my husband got a grilled ham and cheese with artichoke, basil pesto and tomato. They were both very good.

Yummy food! Usually good customer service. They are always willing to answer our questions & check on ingredients. Make sure you let your server know about your allergies, so that they are cautious. Lots of GF options like toast, pancakes, etc, but it may be hard to find things on the menu if you have extra allergies such as egg or dairy.

Noticed that many options that would normally be gluten free (omelets, Cobb salad) were not noted as GF. I asked our server and she said the only thing that was GF was the almond cakes, but they could make substitutions on some things. When she came back I asked about an egg dish if I got it with no toast, she told me that "obviously" the potatoes would also need to be substituted. I told her it wasn't obvious, most places that have GF options have GF potatoes. After all of that, my eggs still came with toast and had to be sent back. Super surprised after all the positive reviews on the app, so maybe just a new server?

Amazing food. Got the almond flour pancakes and loved every bite! Server was well-informed on celiac disease and the protocols used by the kitchen to keep everything safe. This was a return visit and I certainly anticipate another visit the next time I’m in Flagstaff.

Once my kids had the almond pancakes, another bacon, eggs & toast. Server was very knowledgeable and helpful- told us they toast gf bread on a designated part of the griddle. I was so happy to add Toasted Owl to the “safe” local spots my family can eat!

They offer gluten free options. The server understood what celiac was. Told me there could be cross contamination but that they will cook my food on cleaned pans. I ate a breakfast burrito. Gluten free tortilla with eggs, bacon and potatoes. The potatoes are baked.

We went here while on vacation today (9/3) and were served by Omar, he was very knowledgeable of what items can be ordered gluten-free. I went with the almond pancakes and boy was I NOT disappointed, it was HUGE and I happily finished it quickly. If we ever come back this way again we’re definitely coming here.

After reading many positive reviews we decided to try this place for my daughter who has celiac disease. I asked the hostess when we checked in, who didnt seem to know much but she turned to another girl who told me the kitchen is not separate but they do their best to prevent cross contamination, and will make a note about celiac disease. The waitress seemed knowledgeable about It. Unfortunately, my daughter threw up after the meal so I would not recommend this place for celiacs.

I come here often. They have two locations in Flagstaff and are the only breakfast place I have found that I can eat at safely. They are trained on Celiac and always ask if it's preference or Celiac. Almost anything on the menu can be made gluten free. They have bread, tortillas, and even pancakes that are gluten free. My favorite is the fried egg sandwich, highly recommend. They are quite expensive especially after the raise in minimum wage. However, it is worth it to me, to have a safe breakfast out.

this place was incredible!! very knowledgeable servers and staff, and tons of gluten free options. everything could be made gluten free, besides the french toast. the gluten free pancakes were almond cakes, and they were delicious! the rest of my family (not gluten free) got the french toast, a breakfast bowl, and an omelette and loved them all! the place itself is adorable and has a great atmosphere!

Terrible service. We ordered take out via ChowNow, and when we got there, they had outdoor dining. I asked if we could sit on the patio when our food came, and the hostess said, "NO." Not anything else. No "Oh, I'm sorry, no," or anything conversational. Just NO. So I said, "Okay, we'll know you have the outdoor for next time," and pointed to show her where I was going to be sitting in the waiting area.
45 minutes went by, during which I asked her twice about my order, and she acted like it was some big imposition to check on the order that I'd already paid for.
She finally called my name, and I went up to the hostess stand, relieved that my order was finally ready. But no, first she turns to the other hostess and says something, and the other hostess says, "Just tell her no." She says, "I *told* you that you're *not allowed* to sit on the patio." I wasn't sitting in the patio. I was sitting in the waiting area with other people waiting 45+ minutes to get their pickup orders. I asked if my order was ready yet and that was why she had called my name. She shoved the clipboard at me and says, "Then WHY is YOUR NAME on the waiting list!?!?!!" The guy behind me says that *his name* is the name on the waiting list, which was the same as mine. So, he gets seated, and I'm still waiting for my order.
I asked 2 more times for her to check, and she went back to the kitchen and *never came back to update me* BOTH TIMES.
Finally, I went up to the hostess stand and was like, "According to the ChowNow app, it was ready 15 minutes ago. Where is it?"
Another guy took over for her and went and found it *in the pickup area* where it had been sitting *for 20 minutes* and WAS COLD. I had asked at least twice during that time.
The COLD gluten-free almost pancakes were dry. The egg whites were rubbery. Not pleased with the food. Definitely NOT pleased with the service. I tipped $5 via the ChowNow app for handing me my food, and I will never tip ahead of time again. I will hand people cash for even halfway decent service, but this is ridiculous. What a bad experience.

The food was delicious for me and my non celiac friends. The service seemed chaotic for some reason this morning. It made me nervous that my food wasn’t safe but in the end I didn’t have any reactions so I’d recommend going here!

Such a great cafe, I went when I first came here in search of an apartment and now it’s become a staple for us! Great food, especially the breakfast burritos (huge tortilla which is amazing for gf). Never had any problems getting sick and I am both celiac and have a wheat allergy! 10/10 highly recommend, and the staff is super nice about taking precautions and will substitute bread/tortillas for anything you want.

So yummy & Celiac safe!! I got a chorizo breakfast burrito, and a blueberry gf pancake!

Excellent food, knowledgeable staff. They asked me specifically if I was Celiac or just intolerant, and then guided me through which items were safe. They have a separate food prep area of us Celiacs. Their GF burritos are amazing!

Service was amazing. Both gluten-free and non pancakes were absolutely amazing. Great food for a reasonable price.

The GF toast was good! A nice thick piece. I asked what brand their thick toast was and they said Canyon Bakehouse, which I know, but did not realize they made a thick sliced bread. This place had a lot of character and they were careful to make sure the toast didn’t touch anything else. No reaction from this restaurant.
My 6-year old has Celiac and a severely tree nut allergy. We went to the other location and they made her something that wasn’t even on the menu. Their gf pancakes had almond flour (which she is allergic to), so they made her French toast with their gf bread. She was absolutely thrilled because she never gets French toast out! She loved it!! We were very thankful—it is so hard to accommodate kids because the menus mostly cater to adults. Thank you!!

Awesome atmosphere and the breakfast was REALLY good! The gf pancakes were a hit with the kids and our daughter (celiac) didn’t have any issues after. Highly recommend this place for breakfast.

Great gluten free options! And my waiter let the chef know I also couldn’t have any dairy in my burrito. The bacon burrito was very filling! Great coffee too. I will be back when I visit flagstaff again. I appreciate whatever precautions they took because I did not have a reaction.

Quintessential Flagstaff restaurant. GF selections are great as is everything else. Highly recommend it.

I was optimistic at first as the reviews held it was celiac friendly. The server was not sure what we could have but talked to the kitchen staff and assured me that everything was good precautions were taken. While I understand there are no guarantees when eating out, I was hoping non the less. Regardless, I ended up sick for several days after. The food was good and I am sure that those who are non celiac would enjoy the experience more than I.
No
Waiter was great, when I asked for a GF bun he asked if I had celiecs :) always nice when they know what that is.
Yes
Loved their GF almond flour pancakes! They have a hint of marzipan flavor. There was a long list of GF items on the menu like omelettes. The sandwiches could all be made gluten free. Food was excellent. For some reason their bacon was amazing- thicker and more flavorful than usual. My husband had the Flagstaff omelette which he “loved”. Wish we had found this place earlier in the trip.
Food was great. Service super slow, if you are in a hurry plan ahead. Burger was great, gluten free bun, all homemade.
Great easy going staff- knowledgeable with many options on menu for gf.
GF tortillas and toast options and a few GF-specific options on their breakfast menu.
Lots of gf options. Had the breakfast tacos and almond cake. Both were delicious!
This place has a gf pancake and usually some pastries gf! I love their food and never have a reaction when I eat here.
