Celiac Friendly! Make sure you tell them you have a gluten allergy
Stopped by here a couple times on my travels. I Always leave stuffed and happy. Have not reacted once either
my son has an extremely high allergy to gluten and this place provided an option while we travelling in Shreveport, LA the personnel were very helpful and careful handling the food to avoid cross-contamination granted there is always a risk but my son did not suffer any allergic reaction Good place and good food
awesome place! went here twice while on vacatiom and they assured my food would be made separately, and i didnt have a problem. great food and awesome prices
Asked if gluten free was preference or allergen due to procedures to prepare gluten free. Aware of how to prepare to avoid cross contamination.
This was our GO TO place for food we knew would be Gluten Free and not cross contaminated. We've been going here regularly for over three years. Sadly, as of 12-17-2018 the Granville location closed. Thanks the Chris, Rachel, Steven, Jeremy, and everyone else for making us feel safe and at home while dining here. You will be greatly missed.
I have been here a few times now and have been pleased with the food and service. Each time I have told the staff that I have Celiac, and they make sure to put a note on my order so it gets prepared in a separate area of the kitchen. I have had no issues with contamination and definitely enjoyed my meal! Who knew grilled cheese could be exciting again.
The person who took my order seemed a bit unsure when I ordered a GF sandwich, but when the cook saw the order she asked if it was preference or allergy. She instructed the cashier, who I believe was probably new, that he had to ask & put allergy in the order so she would know to clean everything. She told me my order would take a bit longer because she had to clean her work area first. The sandwich was delicious and I didn’t get sick. Would definitely go back.
I have celiac and ate here twice without issues but the third time I got sick from the American cheese. I was under the impression all cheeses were gf, that was not the case and I was not informed otherwise. So be sure to check Tom + Chee’s allergy menu online first!!! But great food the mozzarella and creamy tomato basil is my favorite :)
Have been here 3 or 4 times and the staff each time is great. Affordable and delicious food. Haven't gotten sick. I get a grilled chicken cheese sandwich with lots of fresh veggies on gluten free bread. The tomato soup is gluten free also. Really like this place!
Excellent lunch, dedicated gf griddle, and staff is knowledgeable about what cheeses and other items are certified gluten free. I come here every time I’m in the area. My only complaint is they used to make their own gluten free bread but now they use a commercial bread, but I understand that it’s much easier to use a prepackaged product. I recommend the pesto turkey grilled cheese and creamy tomato basil soup
I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1 because we have eaten at other Tom + Chee and were very impressed. Today, however, not only did all 3 celiacs in my house get very sick but I was very upset at how I was treated. The general staff seemed confused and uninformed. Not what I am used to here. Also the manager gave me a ton of attitude when I asked him to change his gloves. Kept glaring at me. So, I started watching the kitchen. It was then I noticed most of them aren't even wearing gloves. So...I would not eat at this particular location if cross contamination is an issue.
Celiac safe options!!! Quick, easy, and extremely tasty! Was able to confidently eat hear 3 times during my trip. Really appreciated the staff's knowledge and help with questions and they knew thier stuff when it came to cross contamination. Very sensitive and did not get sick!
Amazing grilled cheese and tomato soup! I eat here all of the time and have never gotten sick. You should definitely give it a try.
Kitchen manager explained to me how they mark the order as “allergy,” which cues one person to handle your order. They have a dedicated grill for GF sandwiches marked “allergy.” She even advised me the American cheese has gluten, and steered me to the Wisconsin Cheddar. I haven’t had grilled cheese since diagnosed 9 months ago. It was SO good!!! And no cross-contamination. I left great the rest of the day.
We ate here during a quick trip to Atlanta. The gluten free chicken bacon ranch sandwich and tomato soup were amazing. The way they prepared the gluten free food separately made it easy to relax. Food was delicious!
This place was surprisingly amazing! I recently moved back to this area and wanted to try something new and chose to go here on a whim. I ordered a pepper jack and pepperoni grilled cheese on their gluten free bread. The staff made sure I wanted the sandwich made on a separate grill, which was amazing. The food was also fantastic, a little greasy, but still delicious and did not make me sick. Would definitely recommend this place! Haven’t been able to eat a sandwich out in a long time. Very impressed.
I wish I had the same experience so many others had. I have celiac and was so excited to try this place. My husband and I walked in and an employee was on her cell phone talking wiping down tables and nodded at us. We stood at the front for awhile until another employee from the kitchen yelled to her that we were there. She came up and asked what we were ordering. I asked what the gluten free options were and she said “um soup and bread”. I said I’m sorry it’s my first time here I have celiac I meant what sandwiches can I have or do I need to do a build your own?” And she rolled her eyes and said I don’t know. The same person in the kitchen then directed her to give me a printout of ingredients that were ok. She again rolled her eyes and said “here” handing me the paper and then greeted another customer that walked in. I was so uncomfortable not just by the rudeness but if the staff wasn’t aware of gfree options or how to handle questions like that I didn’t want to risk getting sick. I thanked her and handed the paper back and we left.
I was nervous about trying this place. I am celiac and I loved this place after my first visit. They are knowledgeable about GF and keep everything separate. Best part is there is no upcharge for GF bread. I have been there now many times and it is always awesome.
Excellent food! Great for Celiacs! Son had a great sandwich with gf bread and fries are safe! Separate prep area! Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
I'm visiting from out of town and stopped here for lunch, I was thrilled that they are very celiac friendly. Their tomato soup is gluten free and they offer a gluten free bread option. They make sure to ask if you want the sandwich prepared separately and on a different grill. They appear to be very careful with the food!
They are eager to accommodate, but placed bread beside my GF meal. be sure to ask that they not add bread to your plate.
Great place, have a separate area for the gf sandwiches and can actually watch them make it. Also gf dairy free tomato soup. Delicious and safe
Update: I previously gave this place 5 stars. I went in today and they recently changed the menu. The two teenagers at the counter said there was no longer a gluten free menu. They said that I could just order anything with GF bread. There is clearly lots of menu items not gluten free. I asked about the soups and they said... all soup is gluten free... isn't it? I said I would go somewhere with a gluten free menu. They laughed and said it was fine with them ☹️. First Review: Wow, Wow, and Wow. I have celiac and they made me an amazing Grilled Cheese and soup!! The rest of my family loved their meals also... The grilled cheese on a donut was a big hit with the non-celiac folks! We will definitely be back!
