They have a GF menu with lots of options!
best tacos and they have a separate gf menu.
The food is nice and greasy for when you have that craving...but I also feel a little sick after I eat here. Although, the quality of the food can definitely be a factor, I always feel semi glutened, so I'm suspicious about cross contamination.
Great queso that is GF, lots of options!!
Great tacos! Gluten free list of foods makes it easier to make informed choices. Queso is to die for, and gluten free unlike a lot of other restaurant queso.
Not much selection, have to build your meal based on a list of separate ingredients. Place was dirty when I went. The table had a broken leg and almost threw my food when set it down. Food was very mediocre and just not worth the risk of cc.
This is one of my favorite go to places. It's one of the few places I can eat out for basically fast food prices. Service is almost always great. I'm celiac and I never have any issues... OK there was that one time when they brought me my taco with a wheat flour tortilla but it was obvious and I sent it back immediately. That was only one time out of countless times eating at torchy's tacos.
I'm a sensitive celiac and have good luck here. Really tasty.
Several GF options, but a lot of cross-contamination. I've eaten here twice. The first time I felt off, like extremely mild contamination. Then the other night I was horribly sick by the time we left. It's two days later and I'm still having major reaction. I very clearly told them it was an allergy, and was reassured they would be careful.
Lots of gluten free options!
Although not as many options as I would like, they have always been helpful when notifying me of questionable ingredients and even taken special time to make a taco-of-the-month for me! I will say I have gotten sick a couple of times at various locations, but that is also the risk you take when eating out. (Celiac for 12 years)
Love their breakfast tacos!
Good selection and was asked if gf was due to allergy or preference. When I said allergy he noted that on the ticket as well as went back to the kitchen to advise them to change gloves.
The chips aren't GF, even if they say it's OK, they are NOT safe for celiac (no dedicated fryer). Other than the chips, you can order a lot and not get sick, you just need to check with the manager. Some of the UT students who work here are clueless about celiac disease (nice kids, just not trained). If you do have celiac disease, the manager will help you to figure out what you can eat, and will be knowledgeable. They also take precautions for cross contamination if they know you are allergic, and not just a lifestyle GF person. My wife has hyper-sensitive celiac disease, so Torchy's made her nervous the first time. After two times back, she's never been glutened or sick. I give four stars because even though they are celiac able, a lack of GF menus and staff training makes it unfriendly to persons with the disease.
While the food was delicious, as a person with Celiac disease, this was not a good place for me. They do have a gluten-free menu but don't have a designated GF food prep area and apparently my food was exposed to gluten somewhere in the process. I would recommend being very careful ordering here if you need to be absolutely sure to eat gluten free.
Really tasty tacos and chips and queso and they have gf menu online, but I was mildly sick after both times I ate there, so there must have been cross contamination but it was mild. I've had way worse reactions from restaurants, this just made my stomach a little upset for about an hour. I'm very sensitive though, so if you're less sensitive you'll probably be totally fine. Friendly staff, great margs, and the food was really good.
I am GF and DF. They have a GF menu and very knowledgeable staff. I highly recommend this place!!
Celiacs beware! Sorry celiacs, Torchy's in NOT gluten free. After eating there several times and the managers saying their food is GF, one manager said absolutely not. I spoke with the VP of operations, and over an hour with their culinary chef in charge of the menu. They cook GF ingredients on the same flat top grill as gluten containing products. They cook chips in the same dryers as flour products. Kitchen designs are too small for seperate prep and dedicated cooking surfaces and fryers. I recommended they change their menu to say gliuten friendly; not gluten free - TBD. Will not eat here until they resolve these issues. Too bad; food is amazing!
Delicious food and lots of GF options. Staff is well-versed and can help you make safe choices, modifications where needed.
Ask for the GF menu from the cashier and be pleasantly surprised by the many choices. My son has Celiac and will projectile vomit if there is cross contamination. We all had chips and guacamole (excellent), he had the GF green chile pork taco and I had the GF Independent taco (veggie). Everything tasted very fresh. The entire family enjoyed it!
server had to take food back to kitchen as they had not followed allergy instructions plus it was just not that great would not eat there again
If you are celiac or very sensitive to gluten, do not eat the chips and salsa! The corn chips are fried in a fryer that is NOT a dedicated gluten free fryer.
The food was amazing and manager went out of her way to make sure that my food is gluten-free!! Awesome!!
Came from Nebraska and was nervous about traveling and food allergies. The staff took the time to make sure our visit here was the best. My husband says he wishes he would have ordered 2 wranglers instead of just one! Thanks Torchys for making our vacation a little more relaxing. If you have a dairy problem make sure you order your breakfast taco without eggs.
They made a lot of changes regarding their gluten free choices to the point of putting gluten free/ food allergy alerts on the tickets/ receipts when ordering. In the past the cashiers were clueless even if you ordered off the special lamented gluten free menu which caused problems when your order came out unsafe (and you find out why after eating). Still there mobile app is gluten friendly even before that got updated. I would call in my an order specifically mention it needed to be gluten free and always got help or a callback when something could not be such as their monthly taco of the month. This is why I will keep going back to this Torchy's.
I've heard a lot of hype about this restaurant, I found it to be ok. I ordered the green chili carnitas taco which came loaded with meat, the flavors were good. I also ordered the sauce dip with tortilla chips which I later found out I couldn't eat since the tortilla chips shared a fryer. Thankfully I was made aware of this after ordering, it shouldn't be on the gf menu to begin with, the Angry Orchard hard cider made everything ok again. Other than that, the service was good, atmosphere was welcoming.
Many tasty GF tacos with its own GF menu. Staff are always friendly. These are made-to-order so it's not a quick in and out, but worth the extra 5-10 minutes. Only problem is sometimes our orders have been wrong, so check your bag before you leave. Also keep in mind their chips are not Celiac safe.
Being gluten and dairy free reduced the grande burrito to a small handful of food. The counter person did not offer a GF menu. The person on the floor asking how things were simply answered, that's what left when you take items off. I don't prefer to pay $8 for 'dinner' only to have to go home and eat again.
