I spoke to a woman at this establishment and was very thorough with my questions. She was very confident that they could accommodate and offer me celiac safe food. She brought my food out with the server and made sure the right food went to me. I got sick soon after and have been really sick for the past three days. Another lesson that confidence does not equal ability to offer something 100% gf.
Have gone twice now. First time asked staff for a gluten free menu and was told there wasn’t one. Tried to ask staff about items containing gluten, then ordered what I thought would be safe. My avocado taco arrived deep fried in some crumbs that I assumed were bread crumbs. Tried to order corn, a poor sub for a taco, but it was so salty it was inedible. Asked for refund and staff said manager would “ do it later”. Staff very rude. Refund never happened. I went home hungry. Complained on corporate site and got a gift card. Tried to go back many weeks later, was shown the one menu with gluten free choices, very limited and what I got was mediocre. Never going back. Lots of better taco restaurants in Phoenix to choose from.
Ordered the Baja shrimp on Uber eats and marked that I have a wheat allergy (celiac). They sent me my tacos on corn tortillas but the shrimp were fried:/ I know they can do the shrimp grilled because I’ve gotten them at the restaurant in-person before. Very careless, why have the option to mark wheat allergy if they’re not knowledgeable on it?
Food is delicious! Their menu is ‘gluten conscious’ and NOT gluten free - keep this in mind! I spoke with the cook and he went over what would be the safest for me. I had the democrat taco and the hillbilly queso. No symptoms and I am very sensitive to any cross contamination. Be safe, friends!
