Server was very helpful. Good food choices. The complimentary chips are fried in dedicated fryer. Just watch out that you don't fill up on them before your meal. ☺ They also worked well around my dairy sensitivity.
Knowledgeable staff and great food. They even modified a dish so my son could have their shrimp tacos. Service was wonderful as well.

two words: separate fryers! the chips were gluten free, the staff was knowledgeable and the food was AWESOME. there are tons of gluten free items on the menu. highly, highly recommend this place.
Cook chips on GF oil. Ate here twice. Amazing food. Extensive menu. Needs better reviews. This is our third Hawaiian island and best restaurant and experience.
They cook their chips in the morning with clean oil. The soft shell fish tacos were great! Menu was clearly marked for gluten free entrees. The rice and beans were very flavorful. They even have a gluten free beer for those who can have it.

GF items clearly marked on each menu (a rarity in Hawaii) however, don't get super excited. You for sure have to reiterate to your server about your allergy. Also ask them to *fill out an allergy ticket* and give it to the kitchen. Management and most chefs take the gluten allergy/celiac seriously. If all is relayed to the kitchen properly you should have an excellent meal. My favorite menu items- 1) Chicken Tinga or Fish Tacos- the salsa, cilantro crema and seasonings are sublime! 2) Ensalada Sabrosa with fish- literally the best salad you'll ever have and IT'S HUGE! 3) Rellano Poblano (breakfast item) the sauce is amazing and the pepper cooked perfectly. Do not eat the chips if you can't handle cross contamination. They claim to be cooked in a separate fryer, but aren't always depending who's doing the preparation. I have seen first hand the intermixing being done...just don't risk it.

Great GF options and if you eat downstairs pretty reasonably priced too. My Celiac son had the carne asada tacos and loved them
45 minute wait followed by warm ahi on gluten soggy and stale chips. menu was also not what was posted outside
Had chips and salsa. Said it was gluten free on the menu. Definitely had a reaction. Then saw these reviews that chips are cooked in same oil? Fantastic. Thanks for ruining my vacation! Clearly they are not knowledgable about what qualifies as gluten free. The food was just ok and totally not worth being glutened over. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else
Our server was rushed and not knowledgeable about ingredients. We asked several questions of several servers and even talked to the manager. They still have the chips labeled as GF. THEY ARE NOT! They are fried in the same oil as flour items. We strongly are suspect of the rice and beans as we got sick. Too bad. What we did have was wonderful. Fish and Steak tacos. Lots of meat. If you go ask a lot of questions before you sit down. They are busy. They seriously need Glutenoligists like us. Anna And Renae. this place could get a better rating .

Chips and Fries are not gluten free ! They are marked as having no wheat but everything is cooked in the same fryer , so not gluten free. Not sure why the other poster said they were gluten free, we asked and were told NO . I asked why were they marked on the menu and the server said he didn't know. Our meal was a disappointment , small portions, big prices , beef was fatty ....no chips . We won't be returning .
Excellent gluten free menu and gluten free aware servers! I was pleasantly surprised by the number of options available. I had the gluten free baja tacos from the downstairs menu, gluten free chips and salsa and a gluten free margarita. The owners make every effort to make all menu items from scratch in house, with fresh, local ingredients. Our server was knowledgeable and when asked about items that she was unfamiliar with, went to the kitchen to check. I'll return for more delicious gf food!
