They know what they are doing. They ask if GF is an allergy or a preference. If you are celiac, the kitchen takes extra precautions to avoid cross contamination. They have GF pita bread (potato and tapioca flour) that was great!
Never have an issue here and I’m a very sensitive Celiac. I was told, however, not to order the pizza because it is cooked/prepared on the same surface as the regular pizza. Everything else is clearly marked and they even have gf dessert!
What a great meal! Servers were knowledgeable and friendly. Overhead the manager telling the kitchen staff to make sure to wash hands and change gloves for our meals. Would highly recommend. Have been back several times now.
Gluten free pizza was awesome and GF lasagna could not believe all desserts were gluten free and SO delicious. Daughter is celiac no problem
Wide selection of gf overlapping with vegan and vegetarian fare. Their menu has a disclosure so I did take a digestive enzyme just to be safe.
Great variety of gluten free food! Staff was very knowledgeable and even used an allergy button to alert the staff. Measures are taken to prevent cross contamination. Food was a bit pricey for the size but full of flavor.
I'm celiac, I had a very bad reaction after I eat the lasagna. The manager and the sttaff were very kind and supportive, even they didn't charge the lasagna, but it was contaninated with gluten
Amazing food! Such a treat! I wanted to take advantage of a hamburger bun but liked the ingredients in the quinoa inside out sandwich better. So my knowledge server suggested giving me the grass fed burger with the hummus, tzatziki, tomato, cucumber, red onion, avocado, and feta. It was AMAZING! The server only offered me side choices that were GF. The sweet potato hash and the kale salad were both delicious. There was a $2.50 charge for the GF bun that I didn't know about, but there was no extra charge to customize my burger. Not cheap, but it was sooooo good!
The food was delicious and full of flavor. my new favorite place to eat. I had a burger and my date had the lasagna. I can't wait to try other things on the menu.
Multiple gluten free options in entrées, mains and desserts for lunch and dinner. Loved every meal there❤️.
Perfect GF tacos. 100% recomendable
Really yummy gluten free food. Lots of options and a staff knowledgeable about cross contamination issues. I highly recommend it.
Delicious food without guilt, both because it's GF and also healthful in other ways. GF chicken sausage pizza is very light and tasty, and the Spring Vegetable salad complements it well. Try the Tempranillo red wine from Spain's famed vintner Marques de Caceres, a real treat.
I had the turkey lasagna and it was soooooo good! Nice and warm and it felt good and like a grandma's meal :) and the lemon tart is literally, I'm not kidding, one of the best things I've ever eaten!
This place was awesome!!! So many options.... Don't bother with the flourless chocolate cake, but the lemon tart was amazing
Delicious, great service, Celiac safe!!!
Absolut top Restaurant
Yummy food, good service and atmosphere.
GF items clearly marked on menu. Waitstaff well educated on What living a GF lifestyle looks like & CC issues. Food is seasonal, so menu changes. Amazing food! Fresh, healthy, delicious! Mushroom GF pizza was perfect.
Very unusual and delicious!
Excellent menu with many options. I had the turkey lasagna and it was great. My boyfriend (not GF himself) had tacos and said they were very good. For dessert I had the cranberry almond cake and while it was pretty good, it was TINY for being $7. Wish I knew that before I ordered it, not worth the money in my opinion.
Awesome place! I have celiac disease and am lactose intolerant so it's hard to find options. Many gf choices that are also dairy free. Portions are a little small for the price though.
Huge selection on the menu, all food is locally and seasonally inspired (and delicious), and my waitress was very attentive and assured me that everyone in kitchen was careful to avoid cross-contamination. Would definitely go back!!
Very gf friendly. Great food. A little pricey but you get what you pay for.
There are several GF options, from appetizers to entrees to desserts. All options are clearly labeled on the main menu and the staff are highly conscientious of GF needs. Food was very fresh, healthy and flavorful. And the flourless chocolate cake hit the sweet spot.
Love it. Great location, stellar service, wonderful array of healthy amazing food. Great consideration of food allergies.
Always fantastic! Great gluten free options and never feel guilty as all if the food is fresh and healthy. I can't wait to get a True Foods at home.
The gluten free menu is great and the selection is diverse. From the quinoa inside out burger to the gf pizza to the lemon tart dessert, this restaurant is a must visit.
Amazing menu with safe, delicious gf options! Excellent knowledgable server too.
This is my absolute favorite restaurant! I love the turkey lasagna! It is gluten free and absolutely delicious! If you are over 21 the cucumber/fruit margarita! I highly recommend this restaurant!
Bison burger on gf crust with kale salad and sweet potato hash = awesome! Service was excellent! Waiter caught that my burger had mayo (and I had asked for none) before I did!
Love true food. They have a great menu and they are super careful about gluten free and dairy free. They always do a great job accommodating me. I've had their GF vegan pizza and eaten here for breakfast and everything was delicious.
Amazing good and great GF options
The servers are SO knowledgeable I feel celiac safe here!
The hardest thing about True Food is they have very few options that are vegan AND gluten free, the menu is ok but not great
Lettuce cups...awesome Everything else on the menu...you must have once. Great service. Comfortable atmosphere. And oh yeah...it's popular among the locals. Always a good sign!!
My favorite GF restaurant. Many GF dishes and a tasty rotating seasonal menu. GF desserts. Good cocktails. Everything I've tried has been good.
Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. But most important I had the best gluten free pizza I have ever eatten at True Foods.
Staff was extremely knowledgeable about cross contamination and their gf items were clearly labeled. They assured and reassured me that they’d change gloves, ensure clean surfaces, no fillers in their sauces, etc. Unfortunately although I felt great about my order, it tested positive w/ the Nima and I couldn’t eat. Thankful to have been spared a painful glutening but sad to see that even w/ all their assurances of a safe meal, gluten was still detected. Our waiter was very apologetic and seemed embarrassed at the fact that although the manager came and apologized, he didn’t give a discount or comp my husband’s meal or even offer a different plate even though I had to sit there unable to eat. I asked them to remove my plate off the bill and they did. Sad experience overall for someone w/ Celiac but thankful for my Nima.
A little on the pricey/trendy side, but dang is their food good. The menu is clearly marked with what is gf. Their gf pita is on point. This place has a healthy vibe, but if that’s not your thing don’t be wary, because the food is so tasty.
I had a margarita on the rocks and beef tacos that were ok but not anything to write home about. The beans, however, were delicious. I ordered GF and stated I had celiac. Unfortunately, by the time I left, I felt bloated like I’d experienced cross contamination. We had high hopes that day we visited (2/24/2018), but we won’t be back.
SO AMAZING! They have plenty of gf options... including desserts and the staff is so knowledgeable. I was even able to eat there on my whole30!! I have celiac and am highly sensitive; have eaten there 3 times now without the slightest problem and the staff is so kind and understanding.. not awkward at all. such a great experience.
Food was good and gluten free items are labeled on the menu. Staff is very knowledgeable, but my charred cauliflower appetizer did come back gluten positive on my Nima Sensor. Manager was very nice and had it remade “correctly.” Also had their pad Thai, and nothing I ended up eating made me sick.
OMG THIS PLACE IS A HIDDEN GEM of this app bc it was crowded but their food is AMAZING. Totally celiac safe, this is the kind of place that knows what they are doing. All the staff were knowledgable and had menu items marked. However they can also make other items gluten free through modification. They have gluten free pizza crust and pita as well as buns and bread. This was our first time there but true food kitchen has already made it to my list of all time favorite restaurants (which is EXTREMELY selective let me assure you). they have a ton of dairy, vegetarian, vegan and of course gluten free options. But whether you are a die-hard carnivore who believes vegans are a blight on this planet to an exclusively raw food proponent, there is something at true food kitchen for you. I had the phanaeng curry with chicken and a chance to sample the entrees of my dining mates, the Moroccan chicken and inside out quinoa burger. We also ordered the cauliflower appetizer I forget what the exact name was. All three were excellent. I would order the curry again right now even though I am so full I doubt I’d be able to keep anything down to be frank. Anyways phanaeng curry was an infinity-out-of-ten, the Moroccan chicken was excellent as well, I didn’t think it was good as the curry but still the kind of dish that changes your life. The quinoa burger was phenomenal as well. The cauliflower starter had some sort of sauce and it was partially blackened and on the same level as the curry, which again has made it to my list of all time favorites. Finally, as the culmination to a heavenly, otherworldly experience, we had for dessert the squash pie and a blueberry muffin with ice cream. The squash pie was amazing. Enough said. I wanted to rewind my life after I ate it so I could eat it again. And again. And again. We will 100% be back, probably tomorrow for brunch if I can convince my family to go. If you haven’t tried this place, you HAVE TO GO. there are so many menu options in all different sorts of cultures and cuisines and as a celiac it’s amazing that places like this exist.
The food itself was really tasty, but I did get glutened by the quinoa burger. I think this is probably a wonderful place if you’re avoiding gluten for intolerance reasons or as a personal choice - they have a lot of fun health food options on the menu and the staff is so sweet and friendly - but celiac folks, especially the super sensitive, should probably grab a bite elsewhere. 😕
1st visit to KOP True Food Kitchen but have always had great experience at other TFK’s in Scottsdale and Fairfax. Only thing missing on the their menu was a Bison option to add to entrees. I had the GF fish(Bass) tacos. Would have give 5star but service was slow even for the appetizers which included a side of roasted carrots and GF minestrone soup.
Super knowledgeable. Tons of menu is naturally gluten free. Very popular and good to have a ressie. Love this for celiac.
Waitress knew about GF needs when I asked questions. She did say all pizzas are cooked in the same oven. (Not sure if it’s a convection oven). I ordered the charred cauliflower appetizer. Very light and good with a slight hint of lime. I had a fish taco and a steak tacos. (Order tacos and you get two - fish or steak or both) Came with a side of baked beans in a cup. Came with sour cream and avocado and shredded cabbage on a GF shell. They don’t offer sodas but offer drinks such as a squeezed apple drink which I had. Very good! Had a flourless chocolate dessert also very good!
The absolute best for GF. Roughly 30% of their menu is gluten free, and most of their dishes can be made so on request. They also asked me if my gluten free request was a preference of an allergy - and I formed me that as it was for an allergy, they would alert the chefs so strict gf procedures could be followed. I had the charred cauliflower, the shrimp curry, and the squash pie for dessert. Everything was amazing and I’m so so thrilled to have found a restaurant that takes gf so seriously.
So many gf options (much more than is noted on the menu, tbh) and I've yet to have a server who wasn't super caring and on top of it. Plus, a manager usually walks the food out when I've told them I have celiac to answer any questions and ensure the food is safe.
I had Roasted Cauliflower, Roasted Heirloom Carrots, Fish Tacos (sea bass). My husband and I shared 2 desserts: flourless chocolate cake and squash pie. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The desserts were sweet but not heavily laden atih sugar. They have many GF options that are clearly marked on the menumMy belly was happy and calm after this meal and I woke up feeling great...a clear sign that I wasn't glutened unintentionally.Highly recommend.
I've eaten here twice & had reactions both times. I gave it another shot due to such rave reviews & now I'm sitting here in pain and wishing I never had! If you are celiac/ sensitive to cross contamination I would avoid it. There are so many great places to eat in San Diego that are safe!
I hate to leave a negative review, but I've eaten here twice now, and I've gotten sick both times. The thing that bothers me about this place is the amount of items on their menu that SHOULD be gluten free, but aren't. (Salmon??) Our server explained that they couldn't be easily changed and retain their flavor. I guess my conclusion is that they just aren't very focused on gluten as an issue in their kitchen.
Really good food. Seemingly Celiac safe. Very loud inside. Sometimes difficult to deal with host/hostesses to get seated.
Fantastic. Staff friendly and very knowledgeable about gluten. Bartender knew every ingredient in alost every dish. Even the soy sauce in the tuna tataki appetizer is GF tamari! 2 weeks ago I had the fish tacos, excellent. Last night i had the baked chicken. It was a culinary treat with cilantro pesto. Entire menu is very healthy.
Ate here last night, food was tasty and the waitress was very knowledgeable of Celiac. I had the Chared Cauliflower appetizer, which BDW was delish, the baked chicken and the antioxidant beverage. No reaction at all....will definitely go back!!!!
